  1. After numerous plea's from the public and many requests from Town and County Councils, this is Tescos response to Tidy up the surrounding area of their store. It should be noted that this is the main access to the Market Place and centrepiece of the Conservation Area, from their car park. Last month they were asked if they would like to contribute towards a litter bin being placed adjacent to a footpath leading away from their store, they refused saying they already had one inside the shop. One can only assume its not used!

  2. Maybe we can enlist the help of Ashington MP Ian Lavery, today he and Senior officials from Northumberland County Council will launch a Ten Year Regeneration Programme for...............yes you guessed it Ashington.

Up to Seventy Four Million Pounds will be pumped into the Town.

If anyone can help in Identifying the MP that represents  Bedlington  we could possibly launch a joint effort to make contact and enquire if he could consider something similar for our Town

Facts and figures from BBC LOOK NORTH.

  3. England out, Italy out, Suarez out?

There's another fella out after sarcastically saying he would want a kiss from the Queen of England if he scored a goal for Italy that would  keep England in the competition.

He couldn't score a goal to keep his own team in, so I wonder if he's so cocky now!

  4. Couldn't have put that one better myself Maggie,

but its not just the councillors with the majority vote who need a cracker up their a*ses  Unfortunately our MP doesn't appear to give us any help here in Bedlington, if you look at where the investment is going ie  Supermarket, Sports Centre and most likely NCC headquarters they will all come within a three mile radius of Ashington Football Club. Only way to beat them is at the Ballot Box.

  5. Well Thank you all for the kind wishes,

I'm now fifty five plus V.A.T. and the Party at Atlee Park was a real surprise :) Didn't think I was that popular!!

Seriously, here's a pic of the Big Event, I'm sure Vic, Canny Lass and co who don't get the chance to see the Town as often as us locals  like to have a peep now and again.

  6.

I can't understand it, will you still get a letter though if you ave not registered to vote online?

Depends which way you vote Adam,

I'm sure one of the political parties here in Bedlington will make sure old Mrs Smith is registered and gets up there to cast her vote, even if it means getting her out of the sickbed and taking her up there by way of Taxi or other means..... Of course Mrs Smith knows no better, she's never voted any other way. :(

In the meantime I'll just have to leave you to ponder............Which Party would do that then?

  7. Foxy, was there a regular side-car event at the top of the Hair-pin bend in the 60's - 70's?

(I'm sure this was touched on elsewhere on-site but can't remember where.)

Keith, I think the other Keith can answer that better than me, it wasn't one I ever visited.

  8. In 1966

Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest,

Atletico Madrid won the Spanish League,

Real Madrid won the Champions League

                 England won the World Cup

    By coincidence

    In 2014

Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest

Atletico Madrid won the Spanish League

Real Madrid won the Champions League

  9. I remember about a year ago an old woman was standing at the market place bus stop and lost her footing, I rushed to help her and so did the people in the hairdressers behind it, they walked her into the hairdressers and gave her a cup of tea and made sure she was fine, but i counted at least 5 people who walked by as if nothing happened.

On another case I was driving down green lane in Ashington and a car had went into the dike on the sharp left turn and I just passed in the car and never thought till I got home "Was everyone ok?" I regret not stopping to check. That is why I now carry a high viz bomber jacket, a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher in the car and will stop next time I see anything like that.

    Adam,

If its me in the dyke and you think  I need the Kiss of Life.............Thanks but :|

  10. . I stopped to help her, despite the bus driver's insistence 'are you getting on or not?', called an ambulance for her, rang her father, the only number I could find, and waited with her to make sure she was OK (she was, she's still round also and a very nice lass).

You need to be a bit more wary next time Merc, a similar thing happened to me quite a while ago and now forty years down the line,

I'm still stuck with her!

  11. Tesco don't stock enough variety of goods for the Vixen to do her weekly shop there, so she drives to Asda Blyth where she can get a whole range of goods that are unavailable in  Tesco's Bedlington store. We then have Tesco wondering why they don't have the footfall,

    Elementary Dear Watson!

  12. I'm not too sure if the retired councillors will be ready to commit themselves to living in Bedlington just yet Keith. They may want to hang on until they know the location of the new County HQ before any decision is made. I'm sure they'll not want to commute too far to fulfil the new six figure Posts that are being created.
