  5. Brett, Nice! Can you stitch in the 'Nail' and allow me to use it? Maybe compress the middle of the Gap site to get the Nail in?
  6. Any 'unexpected growth' that hadn't been factored in, said BoA, could very easily cause the bonds market to crash. Might cause debt to be repaid more like! Which mighty organ of intelligence has Wor Dave called in to help privatise the Royal Mail.................BoA????
  7. Two cracking pictures there Brett.
  8. No but actually holding everyone responsible for their posts seems an idea catching on!
  9. It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side,he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared. But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold? 'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?' 'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.' The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find. Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.' 'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied,'The Indians are collecting a massive load of firewood'
  10. Aye Brett a Newcastle one at that!
  11. Happy Australia Day Brian, Time to stoke up your outside oven.
  12. Keef1, get your own picture.................5th blog down! http://bedlington.journallive.co.uk/
  13. http://www.journallive.co.uk/northumberland-sites/bedlington-northumberland/bedlington-news/2013/01/25/sacking-after-75-000-fuel-thefts-at-northumberland-council-depots-61634-32674776/
  14. The police are not divested of their powers they can still do what they did before its just there is now a dedicated team at County which is supposed to do parking enforcement, issue parking fines etc. Or the cynic in me would suggest........corral cars into paid car parks. If these traffic wardens have to be self funding does that mean if they do their jobs well and reduce illegal and inconsiderate parking they are in fact making themselves redundant?
  15. Origins of names.......... http://www.regia.org/languag.htm
  16. That exact point has been made time after time at Town Council meetings but nowt's changed? Also the fact that we went halvers with Ashington on the new stalls with the colourful covers on and where are they? Seems its too expensive to put them up these days?????????? That was two or three grand well spent then! The restoration and resurgence of small town markets is/was a central plank in the County's economic regeneration policy, I presume that's netty paper now?
  17. Parking and enforcement have been taken off the police and handed over to the County Council who now have those traffic wardens who we might see time to time. There is supposed to be a telephone number to use for 'immediate' results! The rest of it looks like I said……….can we bend over anymore? There seems to be a whole new bureaucracy involved in getting out of actually taking responsibility for just about anything these days. Small wonder when the guys at the top do it all the time! Seems we can justify high salaries and pay by mentioning increasing responsibilities but when it comes time to park the buck the only game in town is pass the parcel!
  18. Probably something like this........... "As the only developer actually doing anything in Bedlington would you like us to bend over any more?" I'd be surprised if Foxy isn't on to this one Adam.
  19. Only the Sheriff of London against now............... http://robinhoodtax.org.uk/latest/huge-day-robin-hood-tax-campaign
  20. Talking of helicopters, there was a dammed noisy one over the Top End last night. I presumed keith1 was up here walking through or keith2 was up here star gazing? Police helicopter, money well spent, keep the undesirables out!
  21. and I just 'tipped' solid oak kitchen flooring which had blown because of a water leak. Hate wasting wood.
  22. Get rid of the Tricolour and impose the Bedlington flag(?) This looks like the Clayton corner on a weekend anyway!
  23. Andrew Tebbutt... Keith. What surprised me is that no one seemed to notice that the cuts over the next 3 years are larger than the Adult Services budget plus one or two more! I would have liked to ask in that case will Health and Education still be ring-fenced from the cuts as they have been? Can't see how that will be possible especially with a saving of around £35M to find 2014-15, that's going to be a bloodbath! NCC is going to look much different over the next few years and that has already started.
  24. Only one thing for it, we declare independence from every official body currently governing us! Passport to Pimlico.........Passport to Bedlington more like, man the barricades and impose strict passport controls!
