  1. There was a pub in Ponteland - The Highlander? (I think), and it had a roaring fire at one end of the bar. I might have the wrong name - I know it was Scottish!
  2. A WINNER!!! Well Done Vic. (I know Mercuryg had said he knew it so well done to him, too.) So, Vic, you have won the first prize. You will represent GB in the Louisiana alligator wrestling tournament this Xmas. No, don't thank me now, thank me later...er...hopefully. I know people who would give an arm and a leg for this opportunity - and many have. So once again well done. Does anybody want some more?
  3. No, sorry Canny Lass, that's not the connection, but there is a specific one. Mercuryg says he knows it.
  4. Am I right in thinking that the Howard Arms used to have a real 'coal' fire in the bar. I vaguely remember staggering in one winter night and seeing one.
  5. No, sorry Adam, try again.
  6. You don't appreciate a lot of stuff in school until you get older. Little things like being spanked. Stuff you pay good money for in later life.
  7. Is he affiliated?
  8. Cheers, Mercuryg. It's a good one, let's see how many know it.
  9. NEW QUIZ CONNECTION What connects these >>>
  10. Cheers for clearing that up, Adam.
  11. Now there's a puzzler - I thought that was Gary Jules? I know the song featured in DONNIE DARKO but I never heard of Michael Andrews. Both versions are good, a bit like HURT - Johnny Cash & Nine Inch Nails.
  12. Nice one Adam. I bought their greatest hits CD and it was one of my better buys. My two favourites are SHOUT and this one - MAD WORLD.
  13. WAR OF THE WORLDS They have all narrated The War of the Worlds. Cedric Hardwick for the 1953 film. Morgan Freeman for the remake in 2005. Richard Burton for Jeff Wayne's 1978 musical album. I omitted Orson Welles who narrated the original 1938 radio broadcast. I thought if I had put him in it would have been too easy.
  14. NO, NO, NO - not the correct connection. Now I'm signing off to feed the cats and get my supper. Tara for now.
  15. The wait will be worth it, Malcolm.
  16. Sorry Pete, wrong answer. Believe me, there is a connection.
  17. I will post the connection at 9pm, Canny Lass. It will be there for all to see, after the news if you want. (Then you can all curse and swear and call me everything under the sun - then storm off and say "How did I not get that!)
  18. You've just gone cold, Malcolm. I'll post the answer tonight at - 9pm
  19. Getting very warm, Malcolm, but it is something specific, and I don't want to lead anybody down a false path, so I'll leave it at that. As I say, I could add one more person to this list but it would give it away. What about this cut off time! 6pm tonight or 10pm?
  20. Being a gentleman and a scholar I cannot bring myself to answer that. I mean they might have, Foxy, but that isn't the connection I have in mind. You all keep trying. (The truth is out there.)
  21. Sorry Merc' - not Macbeth. All will be revealed today - anybody want a cut off time - 10pm say! (or earlier) PS. I have your next batch of photos ready and waiting - different connection.
  22. Sorry Malcolm but not the connection. They are all actors, Canny Lass, but they have something that connects them in their professional career. As I said, I could post another actor's image but the connection would be too easy to get.
  23. There has just been a slaughter at the local supermarket. Two women started fighting over some eye-liner and it got out of hand. Dozens have been killed. Google in the headline for the details...Tesco chain-store mascara.
  24. You will seriously kick yourselves if you don't get it. And I warn you, there's more to come after this one!
