School Transport
One of the biggest problems I've EVER come across is transport costs. Be it for work, job interviews, education (ie evening classes to get further qualifications), or going out of town to buy things that you can't obtain locally - like SHOES, etc. It costs £26.50 for a weekly pass on Arriva - £5.70 for a two-zone all day ticket (Bedlington-Blyth) and if you are on JSA that is a lot of money out of your dole if you have to do it on a regular basis. And I can't see prices coming down or any concessions being made. END OF RANT!!

Bedlington Cricket Trophy
Yeah, Eggy, I know that, but they were doing work there yesterday and it looked like they were putting a kerb in front of the dirt road - which made me think they were closing it off. I passed again tonight and the kerb is small and tarmacked (?). It doesn't make sense to me - what they have done - it just means any cars that go down there now have a kerb to negotiate!!! Cheers anyway.

Bedlington Cricket Trophy
Walked passed the Cricket Club opening tonight - at Hirst Head - and saw a kerb had been 'erected' where the entrance is. One assumes the Cricket Club is no longer in use now - or there is another entrance for vehicles. Can someone enlighten me.

Rip Maya Angelou
I read I know why the caged bird sings as part of my 'A' level English Lit' and was knocked over sideways by it. The writing was so vivid and fresh. It was a joy to read. RIP Maya.

The Orwellian Dystopia That Is The Bbc
How could I have missed the obvious one - Global Warming. I wonder how many people and 'green' companies became rich on the back of that nice little scam of an earner.

I hope you're right, Mister Fox, because my bro has just rushed to William Hills with next weeks rent. (Just kidding)

The Orwellian Dystopia That Is The Bbc
Now you know why I got rid of the goggle box three years ago. The media has / have been manipulated by the government from the day the word propaganda was coined. It is mind-blowing how one country sees one event whilst another country sees it in another light. The media tells you what it wants you to believe. There are very few cases, I believe, where a journalist or reporter, can tell you the story the way it happens. If you don't believe me or you believe this as a lunatic rant, then recall the missing Malaysian airplane. It literally disappeared of the news bulletins. The public are fast becoming sheeple, not people.

Humanity?
If I saw someone fall down I would help; If I saw someone lying on the ground I would phone the authorities. To me that is common sense and decency. But we live in a society where a majority of people look after themselves and it's easier to draw the curtains and shut the world out or pretend they didnt see it. In the long run you've got to thing "What if it was me or a loved one that fell down?"

Humanity?
I was watching these the other night, funnily enough. They varied from someone dropping their wallet and seeing how many people returned it, to someone pretending to be beaten up and stabbed.

Which X Men Character Are You?
I'm clicking the button, Malcolm, but nothing is happening. (Maybe I'm the Invisible Man?) But if I had to be an X-man it would be from the original comic books....

Bedlington Cricket Trophy
My brother says the local pubs and clubs played for a trophy at the Bedlington Cricket Club. (TonyP has also mentioned something similar in LIST OF PUBS AND CLUBS.) But my bro can't remember what the trophy was called. Can anyone help?

List Of Pubs And Clubs - Bedlington District
Hi Tony, P. Syd & June's daughter was called Caroline, I believe, and she was married to Aln (Not Alan the conventional way). As for the club I'm too young to remember it.

You Know Your Are Old When...
When you get out the bath and look for the pumice stone for the corn on your foot. OR When you go out for the day and say..."I better put a jacket on in case it gets cool later on." I haven't got to the second stage yet.

Good Jokes: Not For The Faint-Hearted (Adult content)
A drunk walks into a bakery and asks the counter assistant... "How much are your sausage rolls?" She says "Two for a pound." "How much for one?" Asks the drunk. "Seventy five pence." Came the reply. "I'll have the other one then."

Fish Shop Batter
Okay folks, we all remember going to the fish shop and getting fish and chips and the free leftover batter. But what was the leftover batter called? I remember it being called something like sratchings or scranchings!!! But according to Wikipedia it is indigenous to the north east and it was called SCRAPS!!!! Not down our way it wasn't. So what was it called where you lived?
