  4. A poem just posted on the Bedlington Remembered Facebook site - Cyevlin Day at Netherton. I have tried every online Geordie translator, apart from @HIGH PIT WILMA & @Canny lass as there is one word I can't work out and that's the one in the title - CYEVLIN. I've read the poem over and over again and I can't work it out. All I can find online is :- Cyevlin Day at Netherton Jack Black 14 Aut/1978.
  5. Or even mayor of Red House Farm. You could multi task whilst door to door canvasing the area!
  6. Congratulations Malcolm. Looks like you will have to keep ahead of the game - do you get a mobile upgrade with the position? Your comment in a previous comment (different subject) :- ........its about impossible with my old decrepit phone!
  7. Champion - lets hope your actions to support the people follow your constructive criticism of those who 'do their bit'.
  8. Drove past Atlee Park this morning and I see (cos I hadn't noticed it last week) a new litter bin has been sited in the car park, next to one of the flower planters, so there are now two litter bins. Denzel speaks and a mundane, everyday problem is resolved. Must have been the Urban Northumberland Task-force (unt) Champion.
  9. Young lady - not that I know a lot about tap, or any other dance, classes but were they not the Rae Hall on Station Road above the Co-op shop that is now (Entrance to upstairs rooms) Yates Evolution Gym & Tanning Centre?
  10. Photo from Les Dixon of the band Growing Robots on stage at Platform 1 last Friday :-

  12. I now know work started back in 2015 but although I have past the old coop building many times in the past couple of years, and noticed there was work going on for the East Bedlington Community Centre, I never knew what they were planning Platform 1. Having noticed @Les Dixon's post about the gig last Friday I had a search to see exactly where the gig was taking place in Bedlington Station and that's when I found out it was the old Coop building on Station Street. My first real memory of the coop building is that's the place, The Dole Office (Department of Employment), we went upstairs in the building to sign on when we left school in 1965 and I have no idea what use it has been put to over the last 52 years. Some info I have found on line about the project are :- http://www.eastbedlingtonpc.org.uk/hall.php?id=126 East Bedlington Community Centre The Trustees of East Bedlington Community Centre are excited to announce that they have been awarded £845,715 from Big Lottery Reaching Communities (Buildings). It is the 3rd largest award to be made in England and the largest single amount for Northumberland. The award is the final piece of the capital fund jigsaw, with funding already confirmed from East Bedlington Parish Council (£450,000) and CISWO (£48,500). To read the full press realease click here. Work started on the refurbishment early in 2016 and is estimated to take around 28 weeks to complete. The Centre is managed by a committee of local people, supported by East Bedlington Parish Council who act as Custodian Trustees. Hire charges start from £10 per hour for use of the main hall. We are now taking bookings from 1st April 2017. To arrange a booking please contact Ron Thornton or Jenny Tindale on 01670 828808 Press Release 9th November 2015 - full pdf docment at :- http://www.eastbedlingtonpc.org.uk/userfiles/files/Document Archive/Public/Miscellaneous/Community Centre/press release Big Lottery.pdf Extract from the document :-

  18. The green waste bin has now been removed from in front of the train, but not re-sited . Naturally it hasn't taken those that would use a public waste bin long to notice that now there is no where for the public to deposit their rubbish. Facebook - Bygone Bedlington post :- Eleanor Mclean Well done to to council for finally taking away the bins in front if the train but not soooo good to the people responsible for not finding another bin to put their litter in ????
  19. Malcolm - I think you want to get the northumberlandgazette.co.uk told what you stand for. In the article they published, Friday 7th April 2017, - Candidates standing for Northumberland council seats -, they have said - 'The full list of candidates standing for the 67 seats on Northumberland County Council has been released' - and in their List of Candidates by ward they have : Bedlington Central: David Graham (Independent); Ruben Pulle-Daley (Conservative); Alyson Wallace (Labour); Russ Wallace (Independent). Bedlington East: Bill Crosby (Independent); Val Tyler (Labour); Johnny Wearmouth (Conservative). Bedlington West: Tracy Aynsley (Conservative); Adam Hogg (Independent); Terry Johnstone (Labour); Malcolm Robinson . Get more publicity and demand an apology in their next issue. http://www.northumberlandgazette.co.uk/news/candidates-standing-for-northumberland-council-seats-1-8481539
