    Added the names to the photo @Bandsman1966. I have seen this photo before. It's on the http://www.ibew.org.uk/vbbp-uk.htm (Internet Bandsman's Everything Within) site and has, without any proof, the date of 1920 associated with it. As you know the drum has 1906 printed on it.

    bluebarby dug out an old newspaper article and commented:- This is the write up out of a paper, probably the Blyth News, about the last time Netherton banner would be at the picnic.

    @Andy Millne - I see when the latest upgrade/reconstruction of the site has been implemented the sequence of the Albums in the Gallery>Historic Bedlington has been reversed - the oldest created is displayed first. I don't have a problem with this as I would expect that as new updates into each Album will result in the Albums sequence changing - eg. the Albums that are currently being updated will move to the top of the list of Albums so recent postings are more readily available for members, and visitors to see. That is what I am assuming but you know what will really happen. I am currently working on the latest album created = Netherton Colliery Band, created by Bandsman1966, and although I have made updates since the latest upgrade on the site but the album is still last in the list. As with the previous system will the position of albums receiving updates be adjusted through the standard reloads/maintenance etc of the system? I checked the other Gallery categories - People and Events - Places - And The Rest, and the sequence in the Albums does not appear to have been changed = latest displayed first. Hopefully it's not my actions that are resulting in the latest updated albums being moved to the end of the displayed list of albums. Eggy

    @Bandsman1966 - added the list of names from the previous image posted. The back & front rows easy but the sequence of the names, middle two rows, could be out of step. Would you like the name 'North Seaton' added to the photo? I had a check on the Brass bands results web site and there is only one competition listed for 1929 with Northseaton Workmen & Netherton Colliery taking part.

    @Bandsman1966 - Names added to the photo but unfortunately it's just a list as I can't match the names up to the faces. Is the building on the right Netherton Institute?

    Bandsman - I know the words 'Sept 1950 New Uniforms Cresswell Disaster' is written on your info but I have not included it on the photos I have added the names to. I did a bit of research and the Creswell Colliery Mining disaster, Derbyshire was on the 26th. September 1950 - a fire broke out and 80 men were killed. The fire was started at No. 2 transfer point, when a conveyor belt jammed. The belt rollers probably continued to rotate and friction on the conveyor belting produced enough heat to propagate the fire. Flames swept through the 12' by 10' roadway trapping the men behind a "wall of flame".26th September 1950. I 'Googled' to see to see if there was any info online about any tributes by colliery bands following the disaster but didn't find anything. I couldn't make out the faded writing that appears to be the name of the cup the band are dispalying so couldn't find anything on that. The only Brass Band competition I could find for Sept 1950 was The British Open but that was on the 2nd September 1950 and Netherton were not listed as having taken part in the competition. The Creswell Colliery Band were in that competition. Also in Historic Bedlington is an Album - 'Nedderton/Netherton old photos' by Carole and this photo is in it but with the info :-' This photo was taken in the garden of Howard House in the 1930s. The Colliery Manager, Mr Anthony Scott is seated behind and slightly to the right of the trophy.' Based on the names you have given, with your photo, and having seen the people in other photos 1950 would appear to be the right date. As for the way the names have been set out it is difficult to match them into the 5 rows so I have done two photos – one with numbers and an attempt to associate all the names to a number and one with no numbers and just 5 rows of names.

    This old image posted on a Facebook group and saved by one of the members but that member can't remember which group they saved it from. Suspect it will be from one of Evan Martin's many books on Bedlingtonshire - the Railway Tavern, proprietor G E O CRAIGS, with ELLIOT'S newsagents on the left of the building.

    Names added to the photo but can't match all the 24 names so just put three numbers - No 1 first left - No 10 Euphonium and No 24 last right. There are 25 faces and 24 names - I would guess that the partial face, between 20 & 21, is the one not named.

    @Bandsman1966 - have you watched the video - Footage of Netherton Colliery Village 1970 to 1973 - posted by Damian? I think I spotted one of the bandsmen - R. Bradley around the 19 - 20 min mark.

    @Canny lass - @bluebarby do you the names of these three? From previous photos, with names, I would guess that they are, from left to right as you look at the photo - Edith McClean - Elsie Grant & Ruby Stewart.

    @Bandsman1966 - names added to photo. I did a quick search in Goolge for Hammersmith Town Hall Brass Band Competition - 1959 and the site and info on the brassbandresults.co.uk site was found - Cambois Workmens & Pegswood Colliery band were also listed in the bands for this event. Added a bit of the info into the photo.
