@Jennifer Ann Atkinson - after I added your dad's name to the photo I moved the photo I had downloaded from my Download folder to the one I keep for Netherton/Nedderton when I am adding names and info to them. When I did that I found I had a folder named - Caroles - that I had created a couple of years back. It looks like I was going to try and find out some info on the photos but I totally forgot about it. it must have been the time I spent a few weeks in hospital and I hadn't remembered to do anything about them when I got back home. I had added some text to this school photo so I searched this group for a bit of the text = "front teeth missing" and that returned me a posting that Carole had made back in October 2007, long before I joined the group. Carole had posted 8 photos and a lot of info. This is what she posted for this school photo - ' 7th is a photo of some of the children at Netherton School in 1924. My Dad is front left (with his front teeth missing at the time) but I can't identify any of the others.' So I would say, unfortunately. it's not your dad. I will have a good read through Carole's comments and I will get Admin to delete the photo I added the info to and i will upload a new photo with the correct info. In Carole's comment the name Swann does get mentioned. Give me a couple of days and hopefully we will get sorted.🤦♂️ -

@MichaelDavidson - Have you ever looked at the info on the Durham Mining Museum (DMM) site? The site is ran by a charity and I believe all those that help on the site are volunteers. The site has info on all Northumberland and Durham collieries and included in the info on the 2 Bedlington collieries - 'A' & 'D' pits - are the list of owners from 1850 that you have mentioned above and then the owners from 1950 until their close = 1860s - Bedlington Coal Co. 1890s - Bedlington Coal Co. Ltd. 1947 - National Coal Board (N.C.B.) This is a direct link to the Bedlington colliery page on the DM site :- http://www.dmm.org.uk/colliery/b022.htm

@Bhx7 - have you checked back through page one of this topic? There is an image of the Rose & Crown pub. The image is showing a local Man, Matty Whinthrip, with his Horse and Cart outside the pub. The photo is from a book by local historian's Stephen B. & Evan Martin. Also on page 1 of this topic there are a couple of photos showing the wooden bridge and the steel bridge that replaced it. There are buildings in each photo and one of them must be the Rose & Crown. Hope that helps.

Small building at the end of Furnace Bridge?

Sorry CL I should have also added the names Rose Cottage. The reason why I have put '? Toll House' popinting to Rose Cottage is because there has been images posted on the Facebook group - Past Times History (previously Sixtownships) - by @johndawsonjune1955but they don't look like the images on our group of what we, at the census, call Rose Cottage. This is the image/postcard that John Dawson normally posts and you can see it is a different style to what we would call Rose Cottage :- -
Small building at the end of Furnace Bridge?
Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) replied to Joe Ridley's topic in History Hollow
@Joe Ridley - a member called @Reedy (no longer comments within this group) created a topic - Bebside Furnace 1940 - 1952 within History Hollow back in 2013. Within that topic were a few photos including one that showed the small building you are asking about and someone did ask if it was the Toll House. Reedy created the topic as his dad used to live in the area and he was documenting what he remembered so reedy asked his dad about that small building and this was his reply :- This is approximately where the two Toll Houses for the Ha'penny woods were situated :- There are a couple more photos that i will dig out and hopefully post later today. -
Small building at the end of Furnace Bridge?
Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) replied to Joe Ridley's topic in History Hollow
Joe - quick answer is :- the small building - I will have to dig out the info that other people have posted. The Furnace Bridge was not a Toll bridge - Info on all the bridges on the river Blyth = https://www.bridgesonthetyne.co.uk/furnace.html On that site there is info on all the bridges over all the bridges in our area. The Ha'penny (half penny) Woods did have two Toll houses. One just past the Clock House, on the right of the photo you posted, and one at the entrance to the woods from just over the bridge at the bottom of the Bedlington Bank. I will dig out some photos. -
No need to dig out your notes - I'm happy with your conclusion. Text updated but fro your work and conclusion, and the buildings on the 1922 map, I'm thinking John Dawson's Id of Fenwicks Yard could be wrong. Pitty I cant's make out that sign that the text is pointing to

The Seven Sisters and The Bandstand = my childhood. I was born 1948 and in the late 1950's spent days in the river next to the Bandstand. We were forever rebuilding a small dam across the river from the Free Woods side to the Bebside side where there was a wide slab of rack that was used to dive from but the dam was necessary to make the water deep enough to dive into.

@Canny lass - checking through the images that others have posted on various sites, and I have saved a copy, there is one photo that shows some buildings across the road from the Prince of Wales, and up a bit as in your map, and I have added a tag - Rennick's Yard as that is what @johndawsonjune1955 had commented when he posted the photo in 2015. From the census records could Rennick's Yard be linked to the Arcade?

They have been asked if any photos or info but no response at the moment
