I sometimes use the local Tesco's if I need one or two things, otherwise I do my weekly shop at the Tesco in Kingston Park, just because there's a lot more choice, less chavs - and I don't have to wait in long ques (Asda ). I visit the library about two or three times a year but Bedlington library never seem to have what I'm looking for. We do have some nice outdoor spaces in Bedlington - like Plessey Woods. I agree that a map in the town centre could be a good idea. Do we have an official town notice board anywhere?

As Mobius said - install some good anti-virus software. As they are public access computers connected to the internet they should have this anyway. Stephen - the library has a coloured printer and charges a small fee for prints. They allow the use of memory sticks too - so long as they can scan them at the front desk for viruses first.

The woods around the Black Bridge area used to be terrible for this - there was more dog !*!@# swinging from the trees than there was lying on the ground. It was like a competition of who can hook it the highest. I just don't understand the mentality of the people who go to the bother of taking bags with them on their walk, who pick the stuff up but then can't be bothered to bin it properly. It made the whole place smell foul and look filthy. Otherwise it could have been a nice area.

I agree that users should be encouraged to join in; to actually post - not just to hit a green or red button as a form of contribution. If someone posts anything abusive, it should be moderated or deleted - what's the point in highlighting it?

There's no difference between the two if whoever did it didn't have permission in the first place. If I want to view 'art' I'll go to an appropriate place to see it.

Two small businesses have been recognised as showing the true 'spirit of enterprise' after teaming up to help their respective interests grow. Lisa Walker, from Cambois, who provides children's pony rides with 19-year-old Shetland pony Smurf, and Gary Smith, from Bedlington, who hires bouncy castles under the name Mr Booncy, jointly took the title at the Wansbeck Business Awards. The pair decided to pool their resources after realising they had a lot in common and they are now working together to expand their businesses. Ms. Walker said: "We've really thought outside of the box to help each other's businesses. "It's a strange sight seeing 6 feet 3 inch Gary with Smurf who is just 3 feet tall but the kids love the combination and it's been really good for our business." -

The old school which stands opposite St Cuthbert's on Church Lane is to be demolished to make way for a block of 19 flats. This has been going on for quite some time, with applications being submitted and denied for several years. Why is everyone getting upset simply because a handful of people suggested that Accolade is expensive? As far as I've read, no one has said anything about there being no need for Accolade, or that it shouldn't be in Bedlington. Suggesting that businesses fail because certain people (non-customers in this case) find them expensive is absurd. The people who find places like Accolade expensive are obviously not the intended target audience of the business in the first place so what does it matter? Incidentally, I think the residents of Bedlington have a right to have the opinion that their town is down-trodden. If so many people think that the town is down-trodden – who knows, maybe it's because it is. But having the opinion that the town isn't up to much won't stop anyone using any of the businesses up the front street if their services are needed. Businesses fail because of their own mistakes – not because of the opinion local residents have of their town. TheLedge: I don't think much of the food served at the Ridge Farm but I certainly don't think that I'm better than anyone else who eats there. I've also eaten at a few expensive restaurants that haven't been nearly as nice as some smaller, cheaper restaurants, so forget the idea that more expensive food means better food. The fact that you mark people's intelligence on how much money they are willing to spend on a starter shows a distinct lack of it on your side. Let's just accept that everyone is different.

How is it even possible to earn £25,000 tax free per year on benefits? This is apparently how much this man receives from tax payers (it was mentioned on a BBC programme) - but I find it hard to believe.

I agree, drove through Bedlington today and couldn't help but notice how odd the front street looks with a little Tesco shop sitting in the middle of a row of shuttered buildings. Also couldn't help but noticing how dead the front street looked given it was a Saturday afternoon, the place was deserted.

I don't know how it is possible to make vegetables have no taste, but the Ridge Farm succeeds every time. Honestly, if you're invited out by others and the meal is on them then go for it. But if you're planning something special - go elsewhere as the quality of food here will only embarrass both yourself and your guests. The Three Horse Shoes: I ate there for the first and last time in 2008 – Enough said. The Astley Arms: Same standard as Ridge Farm but half the price.

Jester, just keep reporting to the police no matter how trivial an incident seems at the time. Every time you report an incident to the police they will have to log it and this will gradually push up crime statistics for your area – which is the last thing the police want.

Work is set to start in February on major new improvements to the Northumberland Cycle Network. The first stage of the scheme will see the "˜Black Path' re-laid in tarmacadam with new lighting also being installed. The route through Gallagher Park will follow soon after with an expected start date in late March (See the attached plan for further details and proposed routes). The project is being carried out by Sustrans in conjunction with Northumberland County Council. The Sustrans group aims to help people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment. Brian Oliver, Chairman of Bedlington Forum, Said: "Speaking as someone who is heavily involved in most aspects of voluntary and community work, the addition of a dedicated cycle path through Bedlington can only go to enhance the progress we are currently making in our town through schemes such as the Townscape Heritage Initiative. If we are lucky enough to get a footbridge built over the River Blyth at Humford Woods and along with it, the completion of a proposed dedicated path on to Cramlington, we will then have become part of a much bigger cycle network. Hopefully in time we will reap the benefits of having "˜cycle tourists' visit our area." Aln Elliott, Senior Engineer at Northumberland County Council, Said: "There are many phases of cycleway construction to be carried out over the next three years and work will include working with the communities and schools in Bedlington to get their ideas for the project. It is hoped that the finished scheme will be of high quality and give people the opportunity to leave their cars at home and either walk or cycle more to local destinations." A full programme of work will be published on Bedlington.co.uk early in the new year allowing you to give feedback and input to help steer the later stages of the scheme. Later work is set to link Bedlington with East Cramlington via Humford Woods and will be completed by mid 2013. -
The mother of a teenager killed by a police car has said she is "disgusted" that the officer jailed over her death is to be allowed home over Christmas: http://news.bbc.co.u...yne/8425419.stm I personally think that sentences should be paid in full without this type of leniency. After all, once John Dougal is released he'll have plenty of time to spend with his family – whereas the family of Hayley will never have her back.
