When I was in Ashington a week or two ago, there were a couple of people with petitions asking the public and business owners to sign against parking charges. They left extra petition sheets in a lot of the shops, hoping that customers might sign them too. Haven't been up the front street in ages, so I'm not sure if anything like this has been happening there. I did sign the petition in Ashington though, although I wonder if it will have any effect on the final desicion?

I did hear that that they were due to re-open soon (Déjà vu). Let's hope they do a bit more than dust the place this time around.

Another thing, I've noticed that in order to place an ad you have to provide either your phone number or your email address and this applies to all sections. Not a problem for selling stuff I suppose... But I can't imagine many single people, especially single women or mothers wanting to give out their name, contact number and email address to the public (and nor would I want them too really). Is there any way of changing this so that it can all be done through the PM system or in a way in which provides anonymity?

It's horrifying isn't it, when innocent people are jailed for something they didn't do? It's also sickening when people guilty of murder are allowed to walk free among us. Whether he is guilty or not is something that should be debated separately surely – the point is, we have a person who has been convicted of committing a serious crime who has been allowed to walk free - like Ronnie Biggs not long ago – on 'Compassionate' grounds. The Scottish government have a funny way of showing compassion. Being allowed to die in prison surrounded by one's family- isn't that compassionate enough? Being sent to a country that hails you as a hero for blowing up Americans and making friends with the countries leader - that is not compassion.
