  1. I've just followed the Google Earth Car down the Front Street (and Glebe Road!)

    How exciting!

(I will be the one in the blue car, manically trying to take a photo on my stupid camera phone... and failing)

    Keep an eye out!

And Monsta... no sticking your fingers up or showing your bum... you don't want to give anyone a worse impression of the town, do you?

I've seen it quite a few times; I passed it yesterday as it turned in at the Terrier - must have been going down the Oval way?

    :o

  2. Snooker isnt it?

at least it was at one time.

if it is a pool hall now, i don't hear much about it!

Not sure to be honest. I remember people saying the garage was going to be an old people’s home... wasn’t it in the paper at one time too?

Just found this posted by councillor Arthur Pegg on his website about the garage:

    18/01/2008

At last planning permission has been passed to develop the old Elliot's Garage on Front Street.

Apparently the site is to accommodate a 40 bedroomed old-people's home.

This will mean there will eventually be seven such homes in the Bedlington area.

I believe that unfortunately there will be only six or seven car parking places attached to the building and they are for the use of staff that will be working there, which will mean that anyone visiting their relatives or friends who will live there will have to park their car in the carpark situated behind TESCOs.

However, at least, hopefully, the home will be an improvement on the building that currently occupies the site.

  3. I'd support anything happening to it so long as it was getting used and if it's going to benefit the people of Bedlington in any way and get a few kids off the streets then even better.

One thing though - isn’t there a pool hall at the station? Not sure what else it offers besides the pool though...

  4. :lol::lol:

I think even Burnside is looking tidier than the Front Street at the minute..i wonder how many viewers that programme gets? Let`s hope their leccy dropped when it started

I did manage to see it at a friend's house... can't believe they couldn't even bring themselves to view the rest of the house because they were so gutted with the area. 'Run down' - that's exactly how visitors see our town, a rundown !*!@# hole.

But is it any surprise they felt degraded being brought here considering the first thing you see when the camera comes on is the dingy, grimy, chava ridden top end with everyone looking frigid and sick of their lives - boarded up shops and the odd crisp packet blowing about? That woman looked like she was being abused from having to be here.

It's a desperate place Bedlington; at least that's what it was made out to be on national television.

  5. Here goes for another ear bashing but another example of this being a good company to work for .... went to management today and asked to change my hours of work ... childcare issues ... reply back within the hour saying as of next week i can adapt my hours to suit my wraparound childcare ... not many companies will help out people like this

We're not interested in what Npower are like to work for on this thread. As you can see, the title of this thread is “Anyone Else Getting Fleeced by Npower”, not “Anyone Else Think Npower are the Dogs Bollicks” Maybe you should start another thread about it?

  6. There’s good and bad games available for every console. However, in terms of value for money I'd have to say Xbox 360. For game choice I'd also go with the 360... (We’re getting the latest Star Ocean as an exclusive!).

  7. Here here SeanC, you couldn't have said it any better. I too have had a bill from Npower, despite leaving them months ago (and paying my final bill to them when I received it). I refuse to pay it of course. I've complained time and time again without even so much as an explanation as to why I've been billed in the first place. I also got in touch with EnergyWatch who basically told me to get back in touch with Npower.

Not only have I had 2 years of hassle and unexplained extortionate bills from Npower (I was once charged over £350 for 3 months electric from the usual £170 for some reason) but now I feel like I've been left to 'get on with it' from the only people who can help - or at least are supposed to help!

As for what kind of a desperate company Npower is, its sheer greed to not only thieve from us on one occasion but time and time again. What’s even worse though is that they do this - and are ALLOWED to do this to the old and vulnerable.

    Death to Npower! :D

  8. Has anyone played this game yet and if so, what do you think of it? If you haven’t played it, will you play it in the future or is there anyone who cannot stand these games?

Personally I haven’t played it yet although I've seen screenshots of it and it does look good. I might play it myself but I think I'll wait and see what other people make of it first!

  9. Anyone that played Dead Space (it stole Resident Evils thunder in 2008), may like this game. Aparently the team who worked on Dead Space have teamed up with the lead designer of God of War - and also a mystery Hollywood screenwriter to complete this action game.

It'll be based on the 14th century poem "The Divine Comedy", where Dante makes his journey through the nine circles of Hell.

No release date yet as the game is still in development, but the early screenshots and concept art that are floating around the net look promising.
