  1. £500,000 plus VAT plus the price of reparing the walls around the car park, the last time I went passed there they were falling down. :D

Every other month you get a car hitting those walls, they might as well just give up and knock them down completely.

  2. smart price tea and coffee, panda pops, stewing steak stotties and the left overs from tesco or raided from greggs bin.

If Piggly Wiggly's has closed, the Market Tavern might be the only option for people wanting a cuppa and a beef stottie.

  3. We've been fleeced by NPower too: very much in the same way as Junior Bedlingtonian. A few years ago and over night our payment account went from £250.00 in credit to -£800.00 because they did not do a meter reading for 2 years.

It was a nightmare trying to sort things out with them. They were demanding money via their arrogant, disrespectful and thick minded minion brigade employed to deal with such matters. And who I might add, do not know or understand the meaning/concept of customer service. They were one of the worst customer services I have ever had to deal with in my life.

It took a couple of months to sort out and in the end I had to go above the minions' head to get things done, getting everything checked and double checked, and make arrangements for payment. As soon as that bill was sorted out and we paid in full we happily dumped them - never to return.

If they didn’t check your meter for 2 years, then that’s their fault and surely you shouldn’t have had to pay that money. The same thing happened to someone who was on Watchdog and they managed to get the company to scrap the debt (think it was British Gas?). It's amazing what they'll do (and how quickly they'll do it) when BBC's Watchdog gets on their backs... but for the rest of us, we just have to struggle on and usually end up paying the price for their mistakes!

I've wrote several complaints to Npower now without success, my next step is to get in touch with the energy ombudsman, which I'll do once I've had a reply to my latest email.

  4. Yeah, 'cos I always make my choice of boozer based on what's on this website.

Fair enough, I won’t "make my choice of boozer" solely on what’s being said on a forum. I'd base it on my own experience and taste, but I will give the new owner of a pub the benefit of the doubt.

I visited the Dun Cow for the first time in months because Pam (justme on this forum) came across as a nice lass and seemed as though she was actually trying to make something of the place.

  5. Now that I've switched to British Gas from Npower I've been submitting my meter readings every week... and I've seen my monthly bills drop from £70 to £33.

All I can say to everyone reading this is SUBMIT YOUR OWN READINGS! Otherwise you'll be paying for energy you don't use!

You can do it online or over the phone 24/7. If you use the phone it's all automated so you don’t have to wait in queues – just ring the number and type in your reading using the keypad – job done.

Don’t pay any more than you need to; get your meter checked and get your reading submitted.

At Last, A Personal Debris-Removal System That Will Not Cause Injury If Used Properly

Why reach for a broom and dustpan when a clean floor is just a few steps away? For comfort, cleanliness, and sculpted calves, no other footwear-mounted cleaning product can beat the Kleen-Stride. Great for back pain sufferers, too!

Let's face it. You and your pet don't share the same "taste" in music. That's why TechnoPetz created iFeast, the portable pet feeding/watering system for your MP3 player. Mealtime will never be the same for your pet with iFeast.

  7. The pubs of Bedlington are dying a slow death, I think the red lion could be turned around and made into a place to be, but this would take lots of time and money and someone mad enough to risk there cash in the venture, I hear the market tavern is now closed on a monday night, is this a sign of things to come?

It is closed on certain days, I've been passed a few times and it's been closed on an evening...

  8. i was too old to take it unfortunatly, but i did get a nice pen off them!! :D:D:D

I thought you might know something cympil...

i've heard 4 stories at work so far:

1, Manager is up on sexual offence charges relating to male staff, and has been shut to preserve evedence :D

2, Manager was caught with his hand in the till

3, The organisation that owns the pub owes the brewery thousands, which they say the manager should be liable for, even tho they told him to put on offers that wouldnt make money. The brewery have since been in to reclaim stock and other items with the aid of bailiffs!

4, the manager spent the takings installing a security system that could listen in on the conversations being had all over the pub, to stop theft from staff and collusion with customers, and subsiquently banckrupted the place :D:D:D

    Thats ASDA for you!!!

Wonder if any of this is close to the truth??

Most of that is true, like I said; it's about time he got locked up. It’s not often that I'm that bothered about what other people say or do but he really does deserve whatever crap he gets from now on.

  9. I can`t imagine anyone taking the test. I wonder who`s bright idea that was?

Are we still talking about the Red Lion here? If so, the tests are probably aimed at the young lads.

Anyway, it's about time he got locked up, the whole place ought to be locked up, or better yet, burnt to the ground!

"Ofgem has named and shamed npower over its failure to find ways to help customers who are in need with their bills. It cut off 69 homes a week during the first nine months of last year - a 418 per cent rise in two years."

"Charities-such as Help the Aged have warned older people might die for fear of turning on their heating this winter."

A spokesman for consumer group Energywatch, Adam Scorer, said: "Npower has the worst record when it comes to helping consumers in debt and the worst record on disconnections."

"Oh, how we love n power"
