  1. Well said Merc!

I was talking to an old mate in Asda last night who frequents Wetherspoons in Ashington his run down of the week went something like this:

Monday (His words not mine) Drunkards day because that is the day they reduce the beer prices!

    Tuesday Steak club

    Wednesday normal day

Thursday Curry club, a selection of 11 curries

    Fri, Sat money making days

    Sun Sunday lunch

He says all meals are made to order and the cost is about £4.99 which includes a pint. Also that he got gammon steak 2 eggs an' chips £2.99. Needless to say he loves the place!

I will be one of those who goes for a 'lookie',but I get the feeling that it will not be a pub that I could sit in all night!

Forgot to add he says they have a panic button under the counter to summon police if things get out of hand or the old gadgies kick off :dribble:

  2. Well ladies and gents... I guess time will tell after the crack the seal on Tuesday. While we are all entitled to our views, I'd just like to make the observation that Wetherspoons is a VERY successful business and I am sure they have some very clever people who have spent a long time deliberating over this investment, which must have been significant. They must be convinced the demographics work and they must be confident that the numbers stack up otherwise lets face it, I am sure there are 1000 other run down pubs across the land that they could have pumped their cash into.I say good look to them and if the place ends up as a family type pub/ bar... so be it! I for one will be sampling their grub and beer my earliest possible convenience!

I am sure they have some very clever people who have spent a long time deliberating over this investment, which must have been significant.

Hillbilly, they are so very clever and they must have deliberated a long time with Bedlington in their thoughts, they must have really done their home work on Bedlington, I mean they invited that MP bloke to open the place. And you will never believe this, but I was yukked off their facebook page for telling them so,and for pointing them in the direction of a few FACTS about said Muppet. There were also quite a few others had posts removed for telling them the same thing, hard to believe that eh! :dribble: So yes I agree that they are very clever people. On saying that everyone is allowed one mistake, I hope this is the last one they make. Good luck to them and their up coming adventure!

  3. Strange coming from admin that one! I care BA about politics and radios but I still have my pennies worth. It's not the winning 3G, that's important, it's a bit of fun and the opportunity to whip *** that's important :dribble:

Didn't expect that word to show up so I've starred it out myself :P

  4. I wouldn't like to be sitting at those tables if the place was even only half full, can you imagine the hassle of people keep bumping into the backs of the chairs trying to get to the bar! Or even trying to get to the bar and squeezing through the tables and chairs. It's not even open yet and some 'drunk' has already left his coat behind! :dribble:

  5. Andy, I see where you are on about now! Mostly your lot of parkers are from W/End? Yes they are very considerate how they park at the top of that road as well! As for recording no plates mmmmm, I had the bright idea of taking photo's and of taking video recordings of the traffic and parking issues, but was gently reminded that there are a lot of school children about at the time!!! So that idea went straight out the window!

Monsta, to completely block off Bennies entrance at Ridge Terrace is simply silly :dribble: Now if they were to put some of them plates in at the entrance, you know the one's I mean they allow you to enter but pop back up so you can't exit, now that would solve one little problem. Maybe we need lots of little ideas instead of looking for one big idea to solve our problems! :)

  6. I think there is a fair case for lights at the crossing at the top of Glebe Road. As it stands at the moment it is very dangerous for pedestrians especially if they are crossing on the netto side, if a bus/lorry is waiting there drivers views are obstructed and are the buses/lorries waiting for traffic or are they letting pedestrians cross. Locals know about the crossing and are careful as they approach the crossing in such circumstances. Strangers to this are not so careful and I have witnessed some very near misses. Also I think people, especially children, need to be made aware that they do NOT have a God given right to step out into traffic when using crossings!

  7. Andy, If any body can exceed 20mph at school times they must be driving on the path! But I know what you mean. It's not the point of them dropping off their kids that bugs me, it's where and how they park. Never mind half on half off brigade, it's the full car on the road brigade on both sides of the road, that bug me, then they insist on getting their kids out of the car on the side of the traffic! They seem oblivious to the mayhem they are causing and would be the first to shout if some one took their door off! Is it a game they play to see who can park nearest the school?

  8. Well the police were at the entrance to Bennies on Wednesday and Thursday as well as West End school and the Red Lion roundabout. They were there at school times, what for I don't know. Maybe to monitor the situation. Well seen they weren't there on Friday! People parking on the yellow zig-zag school keep clear signs also parking opposite them, they were also double parking along Ridge Terrace, they also, I say 'they' I mean one inconsiderate 'Blimp' decided in her wisdom to block the back road, no in or out for 35 mins while she dropped sprog off and had a chat with all and sundry. So we obviously can't have a police presence every day the cost would be astronomical, but without it we are at the mercy of the 'Blimps'!

  9. Beavers have been extinct in Britain for 400yrs. Chris Packem says reports of the first breeding pair are true and have been filmed. This was shown on Autumn Watch last night, now if they ARE EXTINCT in Britain then they can't be here can they Monsta? I mean they can't have been released into the wild or escaped from somewhere can they? I mean they've been extinct for 400yrs in Britain. Ringing any bells yet Monsta :dribble: :dribble:

  10. Don't worry once NCC get a sniff of money they'll come calling, they'll want an in or bring in cooncil legislation to get some of your money, so be on your guard. But I shouldn't worry too much, your billionaire will have bigger and better lawyers than them!

UP Bedlington Terriers, UP Bedlington and when the rest come calling we tell them to SOD off! Well only if they don't want to invest in Bedlington
