  1. Yeah it's not quite finished because the content writers were being impatient Keep in mind as well that this is purely an image revamp on the forums front, functionally it should be identical... for now.
  2. Another local family business that's been there as long as anyone can remember looks about to shut its doors for the final time. J R Johnson's Footwear in the Market Place "“ synonymous for generations with Clarks Shoes "“ is reported by Bedlington.co.uk stalwart HP to be having a Closing Down Sale. At one time a thriving business with branches at all points North - even in alien Ashington "“ it will doubtless leave yet another boarded-up shop front on the Front Street. Proprietor Clive Johnson inherited the chain from his father at a time when Bedlington still had a thriving small-business community, and it's a matter of local amazement that he has bravely battled the odds for so very long.
  3. This is also untrue.
  4. It might be one of those space saving swimming pools that disappear when you turn your back on it.
  5. Because the majority of protesters in London today don't even know what they are protesting against themselves. Interestingly it was amusing to watch how many are wielding expensive top of the range Canon DSLR's and Sony video cameras produced by "The Man"
  6. Yes but there are two seperate things at work here, the cost of oil and the tax. Whilst the price of petrol may have fallen since last year this is because of a fall in the price of oil back to "reasonable" levels. A fall in the price of oil does not mean that the tax levied on it should be allowed to increase. Increasing the tax on fuel at times of low oil prices is a very easy way to slip in a tax increase without people noticing, do it on the same day as another major news story and it's even easier.
  7. Conveniently on a day where the media is pre-occupied with the G20 summit.
  8. Is this somebody jumping the gun on April fools' day?
  9. Lead is just a standard CAT5 patch cable if you need a new one make sure you don't get conned into buying an "official XBox one" for a tenner or whatever they charge.
  10. Made me chuckle a bit that did.

    XBox Live

Is anybody using XBox Live? I'm pretty limited in the games I have but i'm sure I could beg steal and borrow a few more?
  17. If you had 3 words to describe Bedlington what would they be? I realise this has the potential to end up as a typical town bashing but it's for a serious purpose so please try not to be too predictable and keep them positive. These could be adjectives, landmarks or any other word you would associate with the town.
  18. I think I read somewhere they have a minimum 6 month lag period for privacy reasons.
  19. Yeah media player 11 will run on standard XP installs. "Genuine Advantage" validated of course I agree though Channel 4 definately needs to rethink its player, unfortunately their business model and reliance on traditional advertising revenue prevents them from doing this.
  20. Could be Vauxhall. GM are in major troubles at the moment. Not sure there would be 6000 employed at Vauxhall directly, could he be meaning indirectly through suppliers as well?
  21. Likely foxes. They sound very much like a "strangled howl" http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/thefoxden/call.wav http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/thefoxden/sounds.html
  22. A dog was found today at 4pm in the car park behind Bedlington Front Street Post Office, pm me if you think it might be yours or you know who's it is. Update 24th February 2009: Owner not found, now at Longbenton Cat & Dog Shelter if anybody would like to re-home a Staffie bitch pup.
  23. Could a moderator please move this post, I think it belongs in the jokes forum.
  24. It was an accident just up the road from Keenleysides. Apparantly one fatality. By the sounds of it a car was turning right at the junction or the little car park not sure which across the oncoming traffic and there was a collision with a motorbike. All heard second hand from people close to the scene, nothing confirmed.
