I thought the purpose of tonights meeting was to give the results of the "feasibility study", which I thought it did very well. What most of the residents of Bedlington would like is a full blown sports centre, and it seems to me that there are never going to be enough people to use such a facility at the prices it would have to charge to make it viable. As the guy from KKP said, their brief was to provide a "feasibility study" not a "desireability study".Not happy with meeting re: sports facilities tonight. No further forward in my eyes and it was said the community centre is to close??? It seems to me Bedlington never gets the full cake.. it just gets the crumbs or nowt at all! The residents are speaking up though as everyone has had enough! More rants n info to follow!!

Couldn't believe my eyes this morning, Northumberland County Council managed to put two letters, one to hubby and one to myself IN THE SAME ENVELOPE Is this the start of more cost saving economies?

My copy is unreadable.Sorry if you don't have a copy of office. Seems the old bill haven't heard of PDFs Still, it's one step up from the typewriter the NYPD have.

I think the building which was demolished to make way for the council offices was a workhouse. Maybe someone can confirm this. Was there ever a workhouse or something similar in bedlington?

Yes please, me too.How about a free mouse mat for all of us that can not enter this competition because we no longer live in Bedders.

Yes but you can always "sit on your money". There will always be a "better product" come along, or the prices on the "obsolete" stuff will fall.

The Community Centre used to be the library!!This is my own opinion and not a Town Council suggestion...
As there is apparently a question mark over the library too, I wonder how feasible it would be to move the bookshelves from the library to the ground floor of the community centre, with the bar area being the main part of the library (and the librarian working behind the bar), and the children's library in the youth room. Then potentially you could have a library on the Front Street, opposite the new Market Place, guarantee the future of a decent looking building on that side of the street, keep the use of the room on the top floor (I don't think there's any other room of that size available in Bedlington?) and sell the land that the current library building is on.

Not really, I think I may be what was once called a "Durham Pit Yacker" having been born in County Durham. Does living in Bedlington for nearly 30 years count?True. You really are an ex Bedlingtonian then!

So why should it be off for everybody because one person didn't like it?you can't. it's either on or off for everybody until I get a few spare minutes to add a toggle.

I think people may have travelled a lot further than that. From what I remember it was for miners from the whole of Northumberland.Great video Cympil.
I wonder how many people in the crowds had travelled from Blyth / Ashington / Morpeth etc to be there.
It's a shame we don't have events like this anymore.

According to "New Banter" fourgee posted here at 10.37 last night - can't see anythingWe've had information that this issue and the results of the poll are likely to be produced at the next Town Council meeting. If you haven't already voted in the poll you should do so without delay to make sure your opinion counts.

Just hit refresh a couple of times.
Hitting refresh doesn't work for me, and I did it four times.

This is the North East of England, not the Canaries. An outdoor movie screen would be pretty good but perhaps a little unrealistic.I hope the lightings up to scratch.

Hi Ian, like 3g, I also have met you, and your mum several times. If I can find them, as we have since moved house, I have some photos of you taken at our house in Bedlington as a baby with your mum and maternal grandmother. PM me if you would like any more information.
And yes, your grandfather was a wonderful man. He always had time to stop and speak to everyone, whatever age, and was always good to our two children.

Everyone be careful what you are doing with your Credit Card on the web. On Monday I visited this website http://www.acaiberryexclusive.com/ and entered my credit card details, but changed my mind about making a purchase and exited the site without completing any order, or authorising any transaction. On checking the card account on line yesterday I found that a small (£3.72) charge had been made from "focuscleanse".
I queried this with the card company, and they initially told me the card had been used, as the chip had been read. I knew I had not even been out on Monday, and the card was with me. I also knew that I would not have used the card for such a small amount, unless it was on the internet.
If you Google "focuscleanse" you will find many similar complaints worldwide, and the BBC Watchdog programme is also taking an interest. How many people would have even noticed such a small charge, or bothered to query it if they had.

I clicked of the blue Tesco Mobile banner at the top of the board and was offered a free SIM and "countless other benefits"! Must be the not-as-global-as-they-want-you-to-believe anglo-saxon created recession of something.
What "amazing deal" were you offered recently?
