EU membership is a truly excellent way to promote intercontinental harmony, and bury all those little past differences of viewpoint. Peace in our time! And... whatever you do Basilski, don't mention the war! Oops, you just did! I bet Mutti Merkel will be hopping mad with our Polish friends when she sees this! Some others in Mutti's entourage on the cover have... err... "been here before".

Apologies to The Spectator for ripping off more of their text than is reasonable under copyright law, but a significant number of people on this thread need an excuse not to face reality. Full article

Probably totally unheard of to current generations he was arguably much more significant to UK (and indeed World) popular culture than the celebrated Brian Epstein, had a much longer run, and covered a far "broader range". He was also a bit of a character, of the sort that would have been highly un-PC these grey days. Telstar: The Joe Meek Story was shown on TV over the holiday period, so he was already on my mind when the sad news broke. Though... in other parts of Europe it has never been greener - at least in the last decade. This is just as well as (due to the economically failing EU) there has been a massive return to the land, where people are growing stuff for own/local consumption. Anyone fancy some oranges?

In politics (and the law) you ask questions to elicit a response that demonstrates the weakness of the position of the opposition, and their misunderstandings. You aren't looking too hard then: present day politics is mostly a "State of War" within the parties! A rep score of 0 is still a rep. It's there in the profile for all time. This is la-la-leftie-land supposition, where sixteen year-olds and even babies have the life experience of mature adults. Reference those hilarious trade union block votes of the past for a taste of how things are supposed to work. Back in the real world If you aren't interested and/or can't be a**ed to vote then you don't count! That one got Red Arthur because he knew that he couldn't carry the NUM membership into his strike to overthrow the government. Half a million votes is as good as it gets on gov.uk just at the moment. 98% of the propositions even I can't be bothered to vote on! I actually know of no one who is "anti-immigrant". Adopting a sane immigration policy is not being against immigrants, or even against immigration per-Se. Nor is it against asylum seekers who are genuine asylum seekers. Back in the 1990's mass immigration started being used as a tool by Labour to keep up its fading working class support. We need to counter this cynical political manipulation of our population by calling a pause, and because of the clear and present danger presented by world Islam there's no time like the present. No one will benefit more - from say a five year pause - than our existing immigrants. The penalty for inaction will be major bloodshed!

So EuroCam has just come back from the hot-air summit in Paris, where he agreed mythical billions to combat a mythical problem, and what do the UK government REALLY do? Well... if you were hoping for more encouragement to do anything practical to reduce air pollution - like fit solar panels - you can forget it, as the return you can expect from any spend is being reduced from 12.9p per kilowatt hour to just 4.39p from February 8. If you want any further proof that politicos talk a load of hot air then consider the CBDRILONCWRC principal that has been agreed upon. What's that when it's at home, you may well say? Well, to the people without real jobs that means "Common but Differentiated Responsibility in Light of National Circumstances With Respective Capability.†After the group photos, the sound bytes, and the mutual back slapping, that reduces to: we will all do whatever we see fit to do to get re-elected, because we are all a load of two-faced establishment plonkers conning our respective electorates! Yes, we are all supreme examples of group-think. And that group-think demonstrably works, because we are here and you are still keeping all us non-jobbers and our veritable armies of lesser non-jobbers in the manner to which we've all become accustomed! Under your burden of real-world problems you'll have completely forgotten about COP21 by the time COP22 comes around, so we elites have a huge opportunity to save the world, again! CBDRILONCWRC, or "Common but Differentiated Responsibility in Light of National Circumstances With Respective Capability.â€CBDRILONCWRC, or "Common but Differentiated Responsibility in Light of National Circumstances With Respective Capability.â€CBDRILONCWRC, or "Common but Differentiated Responsibility in Light of National Circumstances With Respective Capability.â€

http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/630682/Couple-missing-lotto-jackpot-glitch-APP Somehow I've no sympathy with Edwina Nylan on missing out on her thirty five millions. If she'd bought any other kind of smartphone it's more than likely she would have had sufficient funds in her account for that ticket purchase to complete. Though I'm sure Apple will compensate her from their trillion dollar cash pile as a simple gesture of goodwill!

So, you've just neatly arranged you desktop icons and turned off the auto-arrange so that they don't screw up again. Then you plug another screen into the lappy, and whoops... all your organisation is undone again! That's what I mean by Desktop Icon Hell. Is there a way of stopping this happening, and forcing Windows to stop moving things around? Because when you change screen resolutions moving fixed size icons is very necessary, but when you change back you want all those changes to be undone, and Windows fails badly here. Well, there is a trick you can pull shutting the desktop down with the Task Manger and restarting it, but it's messy and you shouldn't need to resort to tricks! Enter DesktopOK. DesktopOK is a freebie, and it does not need to be installed. You can run it from anywhere you want (even a USB stick) and it saves icon positions in a plain text file in the same directory as you put the .exe. It's small, fast, totally customisable, and you can minimise it to your icon tray. The only minor annoyance is that the German author has defaulted it to German, so you have to select English yourself. But - as it's a free gift - I say vielen dank and totally forgive him! Recommended! (I've virus checked the first - 114K - download only, and it was free of any nasties at the time of download) And... yes, I forgot to say, it does work fine with Windows 10!

Of course she does! Strictly speaking it's part of the "rep" system, so you are actually voting on the reputation of the poster. At least that's where the lasting result is delivered. Don't worry though, because it's (allegedly) a lot harder for the Corbynistas to rig the electoral system - though do watch out for those 99% statistically improbable postal votes for the opposition that are plonked on the table just when the relative piles seem to indicate you are home and dry!
-
Well to the left happiness is subverting the system, so completely frustrating the original intentions, and devaluing it to the point it has no real meaning any longer. http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/627734/Fiddle-Donald-Trump-Petition-UK-Government Personally I hope that Trump wins; not because I particularly like him, but just to see how slimy Cameron and May react when they have to face up to the consequences of their cynical popularism! There are going on for half a million votes on the petition, and in the main those people - being honourable people who believe in true democracy - will only have voted once. The faux triumphalism is echoed in the claims of the Corbynistas as to the number of votes for their "dear leader". Really easy for unscrupulous activists to take over a party that has a £3 membership fee (thank you Mr Blair), and where its opponents are quite prepared to pay a few £3 one-off "donations" just to help screw you up and make you unelectable! "Ease of use is no indication of quality or long-term serviceability", as they say in consumerist circles.

Petition to Call a Temporary Halt to All Immigration

...yes I am! But in our massively PC society no one can profile, so we have to go through the pretence that this scheme applies to all religious groups. They keep it to themselves because of misplaced loyalty and peer direction - the same as any closed group does! The answer to that final paragraph is that the net needs to be spread as wide as possible; that the groups that you mention also include significant numbers of less extreme Muslims who know a spade when they see a spade, and those groups are the people that most come into contact with potential radicals - not the general population as you so want to pretend, You mention "proof of pudding": so did we have a problem with terrorist extremists bent on bringing down our society and replacing it with a theocracy before we had a significant adoption of Islamic beliefs in our country? No matter how much the left puffs and gyrates on this one the facts are the facts - take your rose coloured glasses off and look at the Quaran, then ask your Muslim friends exactly how much of it they believe. They will hedge around the subject because the actual answer is all of it; it's not just a religious book it's a manual for life. They don't interpret it for themselves, this is delegated to extremists. This recipe for life includes the physical elimination of all other belief sets that don't conform, and the total eradication of the Jews. This is what you are making lengthy excuses for! OK, so I will now answer my own question as to where the moderate Muslims are: They are mostly here! -
Yes, they are taking a lot of liberties of late. I THOUGHT the lappy was simply upgrading Skype but when the machine rebooted I was presented with a Log in to your Microsoft account to access Skype Video dialogue box. Needless to say Skype Video or whatever was immediately uninstalled! Got a load of games and stuff I never asked for too, and apparently I own an X Box, and have all sorts of other "demo" slop I never agreed to. Oh, and I seem to have subscribed to M$ cloud storage (One Drive). Well that one came out at a rate of knots too, but remnants are still reminding me of the storage offer I simply can't refuse. I've lost count of the times M$ has changed the default search on this machine to Bing without asking, and they are frequently attempting to change the default browser and browser homepage. They now want to own all my software (oh, sorry "apps"!) through the M$ Store. I suppose that in a world that was dumb enough to let Apple get away with this and more, it's simply par for the course nowadays.

The stars are a vote on the whole topic, the green up arrow is not a vote on the post but a vote on member reputation (I think). I'm not sure if you are allowed to vote any one member up more than once, hence that's likely why you believe it has stopped working. All this could be history in the next few weeks as we are now overdue for a major software upgrade. The whole thing became hugely cumbersome over the years so the programming team have spent thousands of hours doing a complete top-down rewrite. The new code will be introduced here as free time is available from servicing paying customers. You might want to start your own poll. I think the permissions are set so that any full member can do this in SOME of the forums. Feel free to experiment as we can always clean up for you. I think that only a topic starter can create a poll, and my guess is that you need to create a poll within 24 hours of starting the new topic. Polls can contain multiple questions, and you decide the range of answers. It's actually quite easy, and you can learn "on the job". The moderators will "pin" any polls they think are of general interest to the top of the forum, so you get more exposure and more people voting.

Umm.. that's doe - I've noticed the left can't spell either! I put this down to teachers being more concerned with imparting lefty mumbo jumbo in empty minds than teaching the three Rs! The Sound of Music is actually so non-PC that if you explained it to the likes of Tony's rent-a-mob friends they'd be picketing the cinemas! Fleeing the Nazis is perhaps all they need to know! -

You can't be serious! With one breath the apologists for a pure evil doctrine are asking what's wrong with closed communities and non-integration, with the next we are all supposed to have full awareness of who has been radicalised inside those closed communities. Doh! The whole purpose of the scheme is to encourage those mythical moderate Islamists to come forward with what they know about radicalisation, because even the security services are struggling for information. A reasonable figure here might be 98%! This is the sort of leftie double-think that has got us into the mess we are in, and it highlights another truism: the real difference between left and right is that the left simply can't count (actually doesn't want to count)! Just about everything in the world is resource limited, but in left-wing-la-la-land there are no such limitations. That's the reason left wing governments invariably fail in economic mess. That's also the reason why all the clap-trap about the present mass immigration crisis having historical precedence is pure left wing nonsense! We've never experienced anything like this before and - because we have no strategy to deal with it - we've left ourselves wide open to cultural (and some might reasonably claim, physical) annihilation! -

Well, that's what our politicos absolutely depend on Malc: that; very short memories; and a new bunch of electors to con (the self-admitted reason Labour loves mass immigration). Now here's an interesting FACT that relates to my where are all these moderate Muslims question. Muslims make 'less than 10%' of referrals to Government's flagship anti-terror scheme You'll note that the The Express has disabled comments on this story. It's probably not one you'll find in the fact-seeking Guardian any time soon, but Guardian readers are challenged to prove me wrong. Wow, loads of responses; even requests to explain words I've never actually used! I'm looking forward to tackling the pertinent stuff. -

You are applying Western democratic values to a system which totally rejects same. But even in the case of Nazi Germany only a small number of dedicated fanatacists were able to subvert a working democracy, so your supposition that our democracy won't allow a take over is flawed. A blind eye is being turned to massive postal voting fraud in Muslim areas because that suits our establishment politicians - our democracy is a lot more frail than we are led to believe! You are also making the mistake of equating Islam with other religions. It's not any sort of religion we know of, it's a totalitarian way of life and death. The numbers game won't hack it for several reasons. Most have already been aired here, but the most significant factor is Cameron's suicidal support for Turkey to join the EU. Other EU countries have seen the danger and won't support him. Because saner voices have prevailed Turkish entry has been delayed, but it's now an inevitability. If you doubt the significance of this when combined with the EU principal of free movement, then listen to what is said in that video! Shariah law already is imposed in our country, and permitting that is one of many bungles by our elites. The fanatics are telling you and Maggie what is going to happen in that video in plain English, what don't you understand about that? Do you think they are insincere? Do you think they exaggerate? Someone please answer the question: where are the moderates in Islamic countries? The only Islamic countries that display an outward-facing moderacy are the ones that are under strict military control. In truth I think that's where we are likely heading too. We've come uncomfortably close to this before, but I think the loony left is going to give the militaristic right the excuse they've never been able to find. -

Yes Maggie, and all viewpoints will be equally valid right up to the inevitable day that shariah law is imposed on us all. I do not support any form of extremism, and if I was out of the screaming leftie stable I'd have to feign offence at your suggestion and sprinkle a few accusations of ..isms and ...phobias around to prove my credentials as a fully paid up idiot and contestant for a Darwin award! I'm not and I don't, because - unlike your left wing friends - I read more than the commercially failing paper for the brain-dead The Guardian! One tiny bit of extremism I've just happened on today is a statement that "Christianity faces elimination in its birthplace..." - by that well known right-wing extremist the Archbishop of Canterbury! He is of course talking about bloody elimination BY Islam. A pity it's not done to ask questions of the cleric in church, else some might be tempted to ask the supplementary of how long he thinks this elimination will take in our birthplace! Please do say a lot about the petition, as - unlike the highly censored Guardian comments section - there's no fear of ideas or fear of the truth here. And, here's a question that The Guardian won't tax its reader's brains by posing, but perhaps you could attempt to answer: Where are all these moderate Muslims you talk about in Muslim countries? Are they seen crying out for moderation there when people are being stoned to death; having their hands cut off; or are simply being treated like third-class citizens with no human rights? If all the moderates have come here because of the extremists there, then maybe we should be suggesting that they return to enlighten their Muslim brethren. (Explanation only for the humourless, PC, left: The last sentence is a joke, but the rest is certainly no joke!) Here's a very cogent explanation of just WHY we are in the mess we are in. You'll need to get over the fact that it's published in the right-wing extremist Daily Express though! http://www.express.co.uk/comment/expresscomment/628960/Elites-impact-of-migration -
Petition to Call a Temporary Halt to All Immigration
threegee replied to threegee's topic in Chat Central
You are falling into the trap of equating foreign travel and a steady trickle exchange of citizenry with mass economic migration into the domain of another culture. For centuries our ancestors never saw immigration levels of more than a few hundred people a year. Even the persecution of Ugandan Asians never saw 60,000 UK immigrants in total over the entire period - and these people were highly industrious, Christian, and didn't ghettoise. What we are experiencing today has absolutely no precedent in these islands, and it's suicidal for our culture for politicians to pretend that it's just a continuation of past trends. The figures are now so high that the true extent of economic immigration is now a state secret, and it's going to get worse! The number of us that have lived outside the UK at some stage in our lives has absolutely no bearing on this, just as the number of tourists we see in our cities in Summer is nothing but economically positive, and holds no cultural threat. Actually, true refugees always harbour the desire to go back home when it becomes possible, and/or when they have accumulated enough wealth; that's what we do too, but that's not what the present influx is about. The present influx is about cultural replacement, not about integration and enrichment. The Islamic leaders have only one goal: total world domination! Hiding your head in the sand and pretending that the situation is otherwise - like large sections of the Labour Party are really good at - only plays into the hands of our own right-wing extremists. In a democracy it rapidly becomes obvious that those extremists are the only ones who have real-world solutions. That's what is happening in France, and indeed many other countries, right now. -

OK, I answered your burkah one CL, so how about answering this: You are in the UK and a regular taxi pulls up. A passenger gets out; you try the same door and it's now locked. You complain to the Muslim driver and he tells you to sit in the back. But - you say - a passenger just got out of the front seat! That was a man says the driver, you have to sit in the back or you're going nowhere! What do you do? a ) Get in the back. b ) Go nowhere. c ) Impossible, it could never happen! Supplementary question: If you chose a ) then how long before you'll be obliged to wear the burkah yourself?
-
Another petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/114551/ Worth signing for the sake of our strained democracy, even though the militant left have corrupted the petitions system as well as seizing control of the Labour Party. See: http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/627734/Fiddle-Donald-Trump-Petition-UK-Government I do hope that no one here will be tempted to do that themselves, because it undermines the whole point. No worthwhile end is ever justified by outright fraud - which brings us right back to the subject of the petition.

Ah, well you see Sym the extremist "lesbiongaybisexualtraansgender/Muslim/Christian/black/Pakastani/et al (delete as appropriate)" also shove "down the throats of everybody else" that they are delete as appropriates, and try to represent it as the normal state of being. That's what makes more conservative (with a small c) people nervous; the throat-shovers delight in doing so, and damage their own case by constantly overstepping the boundaries of reason. Apart from that I have to pretty much agree with you - which makes me nervous! @CL: I'm glad we are both thinkers! Of course we'd all help that woman in a burkah, though a heart-attack in a sack would surely be more difficult to identify than if she were wearing normal Western dress. My Italian is indeed terrible, but then again I'm a buyer not a seller, and my supplementary excuses are that I'm English and old. Even official and qualified Italian speakers of English are awful too, and if you want a proper English conversation you seek out an illegal African in transit - which there's no difficulty locating these days. Several times though I've had to restrain myself from intervening in hillarious Italio/German dialogue, where both parties sincerely believe they share a common second language. That's just another reason why the EU is doomed to political failure, though trade, close cooperation, and mutual respect, will go on regardless.
