Hi Bill, sorry about not reading it right, asked my dad there was nobody called Jimmy Foster worked on the Shaft at Bates, there was Ronnie Foster (Shaft Fitter) and Les Foster but no Jimmy.

I just was not sure with the photo's as my Dad went to Westridge, But he was sure the 1970 photo was not at Westridge, but i remember it is ford castle as i have been before and the steps are the same.

A sad moment was announced today (18th February) that Richard Briers has Died after battling a serious lung condition for several years. I would like to say that i am a fan of Richard Briers performance's in all the films and TV Series he was in, he was one of the best and he will be sadly missed, Rest In Peace Richard Briers.

Anyother one from me may grandma's uncle was on leave and fell down the stairs at his home and broke his leg and got told he would be exempt from active duty and would not have to return to the front, however he refused and returned to the front once his leg healed, he returned to the front and then he was killed after stepping on a landmine, his name is among the many on Ashington War Memorial.
