  1. But is Nuclear not a fossil fuel so are you not contributing to the problem not solving it? also as i said before what do you do about the waste, can't bury it, can't dump it at sea, can't store it underground, so what do you do with it? I'm not pro nuclear because of all the problems there has been over the years with it and the problems with waste, i would to also have a planet for future generations, but would not like them to have any health problems due to Nuclear like cancer, had enough of that with the lose of one family member to it, dont want anyone else to get that horrible disease.
  2. I think the college is still doing evening classes for computer training but you have to travel to Ashington, but I think the high schools pulled the plug on the computer evening classes because they were not popular but don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure.
  3. 1) So we can dump nuclear waste in your back garden? 2) How long will Nuclear fuel last?
  4. People are quick to condem coal mining, but people have to think if coal mining had never happened bedlington would be 10 times as small as as it is now if it had not been thanks to collieries same with Ashington, Ellington, Lynemouth, Blyth and many other towns in the local area. I am proud to say I'm from a mining family, to say I am the son of a miner and from a mining town.
  5. So you would like to see a nuclear power station at cambois or lynemouth and what about the waste is that not more "Dirty" then coal and also Nuclear is unsustainable, Fact Clear coal technology, over 200 years of coal reserves around the UK, so how is it unsustainable?
  6. If anyone would like to see any other skills on the document come to Bedlington, please comment.
  7. Well ladies and gents the news has now been confirmed. Lloyds TSB will no longer be in Bedlington, it will now be the Co-op Bank or just TSB. See page 5 of the attached document, about half way down. Verde_transferring_branches.pdf
  8. But sometimes it stops opencasting i just took active farming as an example same as housing.
  9. But you have areas where coal is that you cant get at with open casts or drifts, like Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Ellington, Lynemouth, Newsham and many others where there is housing, active farm land and others so open casts and drifts will not work, so only thing left is shafts, but there needs to be a political will to resurrect the British Coal Mining industry but the tories will never do it because of history with the NUM.
  10. Answer: He had his knighthood took off him so he is the odd one out.
  11. I don't think the cost is a problem because if it was why would mining companies in the 1800's pay for it and the state pay for it up into the 80's, the last "new pit" to open i think was Wistow Colliery in yorkshire in 1983, so i don't think the cost is a problem.
  12. My dad found some Asbestos sheets a while ago and got them damped down with water and then bagged them up, sealed the bags, labeled them and contacted NCC and told them he had asbestos in the bags and some blokes from NCC arrived and took the asbestos away, like vic says things like asbestos, PCB's and other old building matierials are a danger but only if handled incorrectly there dangers are a bit over exaggerated.
  13. When i went pass in the afternoon there was a bloke, there by himself so i guess he was there by himself all day.
  14. No, but i would like to see the footage that was taken by the person with the video camera near the bottom right, a nice bit of bedlington history along with your photos foxy.
  15. It was not even what i class as render, it was just paint on the stone work which was flaking off what i saw of it when it was being taken off.
  16. I don't understand how they where allowed to do that as it is a risk to their health and safety and the public's health and safety.
  17. I have seen the consequences of years of working in a colliery to, many of my family have seen/live wih the consequences of working down pits: vibration white finger, Osteoarthritis (miners knee), deafness, to name but a few. But all my family agree if they where still young and the pits where still here they would be down them and i would as well, but that is my personal opinion, like keith and malcolm say no point in arguing/falling out over.
  18. I have no warning points but would like to know what they are, as they don't sound like a good thing to have.
  19. I think we will have to wait for our MP become energy secretery, as he is already parliamentary private secretary to Harriet Harman. Next step a position in the shadow cabinet?
  20. Yes malcolm your right, we have all gotten off on a rant that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.
  21. Note keith that she was on the Executive.
  22. No it is straight politics, the NUM had to much power for the tories liking, so how did they deal with trade unions with to much power, make the work force redundant so there is no point in them having union membership, stops the members stop the money, can't call a strike without money, make the unions have no power.
  23. It is a good camera i have one it is a great camera you should get it.
