  1. Thanks Wonky. Your life sounds good. We are not musical but love to listen to live music of any sort. A friend loves the violinist Joshua Bell. She is in stage 4 cancer and close to death but still made it up to the proms to see him. Music is that important to some people.
  2. Think maybe it is a case of 'more important than life and death' Enjoy the celebrations
  3. I want a bench for the garden Malcolm. When can we buy them.
  4. Here's the thing Eggy. Dylan went electric and people complained. Music is subjective but sometimes the LP /Cd you don't much rate turns out to be your all time favourite. Keeping an open mind, we feel music is a great educator and we subject our kids and now Grandkids to music we enjoy. Amazing how they now turn the tables. The music scene in Ireland is brilliant wonky, you are lucky to be part of it. Listening to Synergy we often felt someone had raided our music collection!
  5. We have been to Kelvingrove and Edinburgh today. All feature in the film. When I go to buy a Proclaimers cd I may have to ask for a plain brown paper bag. Seem to remember making fun of one of my kids who bought their record.
  6. I Wanna be Yours, appeared on the GCSE syllabus around 2000. Hence a whole host of new followers. One girl in front of us said that was the best of nights.
  7. Look out for an advert for McCains chips. Mostly it seems an ad at the cinema. Very good with the man himself. The Article Monkeys use his lyrics on their latest cd. The film they showed at the Tyneside was called :- 'Evidently John Cooper Clarke' We think it has been on the tele, maybe worth a look on U tube etc
  8. Our Mums old houses are great for memories. Mine brought to life a bride doll that I was not at all grateful for in the past and stands as a testament to remind me of her love
  9. She was a favourite of John Peel. She looks like a school teacher.
  10. Yep and she is not the Trembling Kind!
  11. Has Malcolm been abducted on the item he unveiled. Not a magic carpet or a stairway to heaven.
  12. She is on tonight at The Little Theatre Saltwell Park Gateshead. Off to try and get tickets. Have not been to this venue before.
  13. They had him with Frank Sidebottom in the film Wonky. (Playing at the Leadmill .) The Tyneside had John Otway film and questions the other week. Seems he turned up 'Pi----d' John Cooper Clarke was a really funny and unassuming individual . He came across really well. We have followed him since the 70s.
  14. Crikey these medical people should carry a health warning. 'Taking the recommended dose could seriously damage your Health' Hope your well soon Wonky and do not need any medication.
  15. She looked a right 'Clip'. Where did that come from?
  16. Look up the Happy Cats Travelling Sessions at Charlton's Cambois. Research has them with such a loyal following that people get a bus from Bedlington to see them. They are so good people dance on tables. One of my favourite tracks of all time is Heart of Saturday Night Tom Waits. It seems that is one of the songs they sing! Must get to see them. They have played Sour Grapes in Morpeth. Amazing I have only just heard about them. Obviously mixing with the wrong sort!
  17. Excellent Malcolm. A simple idea that is both useful and a brilliant advert for Bedlington. The perfect weather for your unveiling. Hope to see them multiply!
  18. Brilliant film. Edinburgh looks great The proclaimers music is a bonus. It seems locally there is a group called The Happy Cats who do there music and more.
  19. The Tyneside cinema hosted a film and then questions with the man himself. The great thing is it was here in Newcastle and networked live to other venues. If you have never heard of him. I recommend 'I Wanna be Yours' for starters. Then Chicken Town and Beasley Street. They even talk of him being a National Treasure. The Article Monkeys are fans!
  20. At least you have not lost your sense of humour!
  21. The Bedlington History Society on Monday featured the Battle of Flodden and the background to the event by a guy called Chris Burgess. He was an excellent speaker and it was a talk everyone with any interest in history should have attended. Sorry, due to a technical hitch I could not mention it sooner.
  22. As I remember telegraph poles and old pianos all helped the bonfire pile. Picture frames to keep the fire going in emergencies when your potatoes were not quite ready. I still have fire starter tendencies, now it is all about renewable energy. Annoying the neighbours can be a problem.
  23. They wittered about IOS 7 02 but solved the problem by claiming it was something to do with an insecure site and a cookie issue. They tried the two app versions in the phone and something clicked. Either way back to normal on 3G. Fascinating but irritating. Keep thinking about Fawlty Towers and hitting a car with a twig because it does not work!
  24. My education is lacking here Brian. Tell us more about the leagues and the play offs. Who should we support, from a distance.
  25. I have not posted for a while due to technical hitches. Maybe we should have a section for illness, death or other. Pete maybe just sick of us all. Homesick or sick of home.
