  15. I'm with you I have been checking another photo - West Sleekburn Home Guard, also 1943 - there are 71 in the Sleekburn phot but only 9 named.
  16. @Canny lass - I have no info. There are a lot of officers for a small town. I wonder how many Private's - Lance Corporal's & Corporal's there were?
  17. Had another search through all the old photos, especially those East End south side, but no luck. Still haven't had a reply back on Facebook Bygone Bedlington where I asked Janice Henderson (who named the 3 Morgan's in the photo) if she could find out the approximate year based on Sadie Morgan's DoB. Janice did comment that she would ask her relatives who had researched the family. The original photo with - buildings, then footpath, then curb, then road, then edging did suggest the East End south side as it had the single width road running along the top of the embankment that went down to the main road but can't find anything that matches - eg. North and South side :- Haven't given up - yet
  18. Now I have had a quick look and selected a few sections - looks like you have to subscribe to find anything out
  19. @Canny lass - I was just about to close down PC when I saw your comment in the BGS album about the names you are interested in. I have never researched it - @Rigger might have I input 'Home Guard 14th Battalion Bedlington' into Google search and got this site :- https://www.wartimememoriesproject.com/ww2/allied/battalion.php?pid=6994 I haven't delved into the sections of the site Nobody on the Facebook groups has commented that they have done any research (closing down now )
  20. I posted the photo on the Bygone Bedlington Facebook group and Heather Dougals's husband came up with a clearer version - his grandad is No 42 in the second photo where I have added numbers and made the names easier to read.
  21. And that's what I thought at first but it's just tat I can't track down any building with the large stone. clean cut, bricks. Still looking when a new thought pops into the head but not getting anywhere. This is some info that Janice Henderson put in a comment :- Waiting foe a reply from Janice re the approximate D.o.B. and age of Sadie so we will get a probable date of the photo.
  22. Photo posted on Facebook by David Bailey, a descendant of Geordie Graham who is in the photo, but he does not know where the photo was taken or what the event is :- Looking through all the old photos of Bedlington I have I cannot identify the buildings. As there is a charabanc in the photo and all the men are wearing white flowers in their buttonholes we assume it is a special event. In the 1920's and up to when he moved into Hollymount Square Geordie Graham and his family lived in Haig Road - they were neighbours and very good friends of my granda and granny Henderson. What was noticed by 'Shep' on the Facebook group was that two of the people in the photo used to run The Barrington Arms and from that we are assuming, as those two do not appear to be dressed for whatever the event was, the photo was taken in Bedlington. Can anyone identify the area this phot could have been taken - or the event - or anyone in the photo?
