    Whitley Memorial School

    Images added to a gallery album owned by Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) in Historic Bedlington

    The original school building was destroyed by fire in 1970. The old school building was replaced with garages and houses and the new school is still within the old school grounds.

    Update on the names - No 7 & 14 names switched. No 15 is thought not to be a BGS ex pupil but the husband of June Gruny's friend who she was staying with in Ashington for the reunion do.

    5th Form from 1958-59 school year reunion do held somewhere in Ashington. Organised by June Grundy nee Ham who lived in Ashington and attended the school from 1954 to 1961. Info from June's husband Malcolm Grundy who met June at university. Malcolm does not know the other people in the photo. Malcolm found a list of names that June had documented whilst organising the reunion. Photo posted on the Bygone Bedlington Facebook group and ex BGS pupil Janice Mathews nee Metcalf has named a few.
