  1. As far as I can remember this team were undefeated throughout the season, winning the league. Mr Hunt, class 6, got the lads, me one of them, to play the girls team at most dinner breaks and naturally the lads made every physical effort to win every day. Can't remember if we did win every match, probably not.

After the league season there was a Netball Rally. always held at the Bebside junior school, but unfortunately the team were beaten in the final match. John Dawson, facebook sixtownships group has just posted a photo of the winning team, from Pegswood junior school, with the comment :- '  Winners of netball rally played at Bebside July 17th 1960 Pegswood 7 goals Barrington 6 goals'

  2. The History of The Red Lion posted on Wetherspoon's web site is :-

This was built in 1902 as a replacement for an inn of the same name which stood on the site.

This was ‘an extended stone building next to a row of cottages’.

The inn is recorded on the map of Bedlington drawn in c1860.

The Red Lion is also recorded in the earliest surviving Bedlington Parish Directory of 1827, when the licensee was Joseph Younger.

  3. George Mitcheson commented on the photo that's without instruments but has numbers - 'Just come to me out of the blue! 23 is Lorraine Brown. Grandparents , Jos Tyler who always had a greyhound, lived in 9 Third Street.'

So the girl in the front row, between Lorna Naisby & Margaret Stewart is Lorraine Brown.

This is the photo, posted from Allana Smih's mother's collection on Facebook group Bedlington Remembered, of the class without musical instruments

Jimmy Bailey, Will Foster and Spratty ended up at Bedlington Grammer School playing along side Bobby Charlton .Will became a teacher and Jimmy Bailey a linesman at the Bomarsund pit along side Rex Parker Happy days hope this fills in a few missing gaps.

  7. Image labelled - 'Clifton Row in Netherton Village.............' published in the Journal, October 17th, 1992 - posted by Jim Hardy on Facebook group Bygone Bedlington.

This image is of a 2 story row of houses, whereas the first image suggests a row of cottage style with the 2nd floor in the loft space.
