  1. all dogs should be fitted with them electric collars so you can zap em when there misbehaving!!!

your not too far from the truth...

apparently you can now buy a collar that sends a shock to the dog if it is misbehaving via remote control. apparently its been tested in the USA on dangerous dogs there, and has been used as dogs attack people to subdue the dog, and is very effective.

unfortunatly its not very nice for the dog, and rely's on the owner making sure battery's are charged, buttons are pressed etc...

not a method i condone tho...

  2. Wey,i don`t know much about winnings but you seem to...so...if i had put £2 each way on the horse that came in third, what would i win? (i think it was 40/1)

what was the total bet? as £2 each way would cost you £4 (£2 to win+£2 on 2,3or4th)

i'll assume it was a £2 total bet, making it £1 each way. now, since it came third, you win on the £1 each way bet and not the win, which is quarter the odds. so £1 on a 40-1 each way bet that comes third would give you £10, plus your stake, so you should be looking at £11.

i may be completly wrong tho, so dont quote me! thats just the way i was told it works, i'm not a betting man as a rule!

if it was £2 each way, and total bet was £4, then i would expect £22 back...

  3. One thing you can't get where I live is a good leek, you can buy them in the super markets but there not as good as home grown in Bedlington.
Last time i had a good leak in bedlington was on a saturday night, and i got a free room for the privilidge! Like everything tho, some police officers have a sence of humour, some dont....
  4. Just seen your photo with that little un with the BJ Tshirt  is that your bubba?
oopps! thats still there aint it!

(Note to onesself: remove pic as soon as this is posted)

Nope, its a pic i use for my msn pic.

as is this other one that will be in the BJ's place...

  5. My horsey won. I'm £43.25 richer for a £1 each-way bet! Wayhey.

    Hmmmn, £43.25 on a 33-1 win with a £1 stake each way?

(£1 on 33-1=£33 plus stake=£34 divide by 4 to get 1/4 odds for each way bet=£8.50?)

you must have taken some pretty good odds young lady, as i believe the winner started at 30-1!

was it 173-1? or am i working this out wrong?

    Well done that...erm...(wo)man!

obviously, keep the £3.25 for housekeeping and we'll see mr hair in the pub later with the rest!

  6. I was only young then but I remember me and some other lads getting the wood from thoes houses and carrying it home.
    THEIF!!!!

lol, anyways, i was down there today, noticed what looked like a bricked up doorway, but with some of the bricks taken down... i went and had a look, but as i neared, the dog started growling...

i went further, looked over the wall, and there was a bloke curled up snooring with empty cans all around him.

    i hastilly retreated! :blink::mellow::o:mellow::blink:

  7. does it have to be pics loaded from elsewhere? or can you add them from your harddrive?

just when i click the 'upload picture' it gives me a prompt for a web address instead of the usual browse button...

  8. Animal activists are the sort who would rather not see the fox shot at all!

Oh, and for the record, I think the horseracing is cruel too

i dont disagree with horseracing, i dissagree with the kicking and the whip.

i think someone should whip and kick the jockys twice for each time they do it to the horse.. bet it wouls soon stop!

  9. Shouldn't you be blaming online shopping then?

    No, i shouldnt.

Online shopping has evolved because todays working class individual has not got the time to go to the local markets, as their at work when their on. if women did not work, then they could go to the markets, and they would be buisier.

now its just dole wallers and old people that go there, with the exeption of a few that dont work thursdays daytime...

where's the money in that? the dole wallers have nowt to spend, and the old dears cant carry much!

its the old dears with cars and the ones that dont work thursdays that keep the market alive!

  10. In Bedlington we have the space for a super size market, shame that most is took up by car boot.

However combine the two and our market day could be huge, other towns have car boot fairs which are massive namely run by Nobles, and other towns have large markets.

Bedlington has the population for a bigger market surely if we had more traders it would bring more business to the local area and make our market worth visiting :)

Bedlington Market used to be huge, the trouble was shops like somerfield, asda and tesco have priced the market stalls out of buisness.

Very few people actually do their shopping at the market now, which is a shame considering the heritage.

i blame womens rights....if you buggers diddnt go out to work and let us men earn the crust, you would have more time to shop at the local markets, instead of 'online shopping' and superstores.

    BRING BACK THE CORNER SHOP!

i know the one up my way (near red house farm) used to be packed with goods, and if he diddnt have it, he got it for you for the next day, even had an off licence erm, licence, and if i remember right, rented videos!

now its a pokey little shop run by an old woman with dirty nails (i speak as i find!) with hardly anything in it.

    Damn Shame it is too!

  11. PS I saw a one of their stall holders supporting our local businesses, he bought a can of red bull and a tin of deodorant from Somerfield.

    Obviously not french then (ooooooOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!)

i passed the market today too, and i too was impressed by the turnout. we should do more to bring the people of bedlington back onto our front street. Any ideas folks?

  12. Page 2 of the News Post Leader tells a terrifying tale of a postman who had his bag (not a euphemism) bitten by a dog (in Bedlington). The owner claims it got loose as her child let it out and is therefore not to blame. The postdude claims stress. The court ruled that the lady must pay £250.

Really I don't think this story is worthy of page 2 news (or even a thread on the Bedlington website). But if I had to make judgement I would say the owner is to blame for having a mad dog.

    What do you all think?

I'm sorry, but as a dog owner i feel it is my personal responsibility to make sure everyone is safe from her.

if she bites anyone, i would expect to have blame bestowed upon me, unless of course the dog is defending me, my family, my property or itsself.

and even if it was defending its self, i would still expect nothing more than a growl and for her to run away, rather than attack another living soul.

My opinion is, the owner is responsible for

a ) keeping the dog under control

b ) educating the child on the importance of not opening the door and letting said dog out

c ) ensuring the dog is not violent, and if it is, either have it re-trained or put down.

It is also my personal opinion that if any of my pets shows aggression to a human, unless prevoked, that that animal will be put to sleep without delay. who knows what it might attack next!

    Anyone else got an opinion?
