  1. ive had bad experiences in ridge and sometimes you can wait ages at the bar or for your meal but if you go at the right time its usually good all round

I've had some NIGHTMARES in the ridge farm!!

spuds with hard bits in, so hard its like eating setting concrete, sprouts fresh from the vine, just doused under the hot tap, and beef i was glad for, as i needed a new insole.....

But, Alas, i believe that chef has 'gone the journey', and i was forced to eat there about 2 months ago....

it was BEAUTIFUL!!! everything done to perfection, meat that melts in the mouth, and puddings to die for!!

Me and Miss Darn have been there several times since, in the last 2 months alone! the only problem we had, was a family in with a son called 'Jakey' (appologies if you are reading this!!). this boy should have been called damien!!, and the familys attempts to calm him consisted of sitting right where they were and shouting 'jakey' every 2-3 seconds.... to which the boy replied every time!!! (not!)

i have been against smacking children for a lot of years now, but.....

Top marks for the Ridge, food was spot on!

    :blink::blink::blink:

  2. yeah but surely if youve got people parking in your car park that you own you have the right to employ someone like that??I know the sun has a big car park and people who never go in just use it for convenience even though theres 2 little car parks behind the blue bell and a massive one behind somerfield.how lazy are bedlingtons people these days??I say pedestrianize bedlington front street that would be good althought it would never happen :)

well, i have to admit, on at least 3 occasions i have considered popping in to see if any 'old friends' were in the bar (tavern), once in fact tonight, but i have refrained, as it would mean parking in the car park, and i dont really want anyone touching my car while i'm in there, even if they do remove the boot once i've 'validated' my visit. as for limits, do you(the tavern) have a clear limit marked, where 'beyond this exact point cars will be clamped'? or is it just 'anywhere on moyyyyy laaaaarnd'?

in short, it has kept both myself and miss darn from your establishment for a quick bite to eat, as i can park no problem, and without worry of anyone clamping me, anywhere else that serves food in bedlington.

  3. our beer is never warm, as the bar manager monitors the cellar temperature at all times and theres cooling fans in the cellar too :)

he actually sits there and monitors the temperature??? like on a comfy chair??? how does he use the loo? don't all cellars have cooling fans??? what if you leave the beer in a glass on the windowsill in the burning glare of the sun? will that make it warm? or is fosters on their way to patent it?

    :P:P:P

  4. You don't need hooks if it really works. I was told that ducks can't digest pork fat so they have to pass it out, then another duck swallows it...

...and after a while you get a nice Christmas decoration Bedlington could hang over the front street...

  5. One last thought on the matter, imagine if they build on the big car park, (I've heard rumours of it,) then you'll know what parking problems are.

:o what if they build a sports center with swimming pool! they would have to change the name to 'The Sports Center Tavern'

were would the market go? more importantly, where would the local boy racers go when its icy?

    this could be a TRAGEDY!

  6. A fishing line baited with a piece of pork fat and left for 24 hours or so will catch you half a dozen (apparently).

i've heared thats useless unless you add a few fishing hooks too.....

and you've got to tie the other end to something, or they run off with your rod!

  7. Any 'artistic' photographs of you and Mr Darn would be greatfully accepted.

lots of them already on the net denzel! lol

as for pete's comment, nothing less than 8megapixel please, and with detachable zoom lens if its not too much trouble...

(for denzel and emma's 'dogging' sessions in the car park at the bottom of the furnace bank @ 02.34am)

and, now that we have unlimited photo size access, i can post those pics of bedlington i was winging about 8 months ago.... if i can find them.... :o:huh:<_<

next round of photos for this section....im unsure...cant find anything unobvious to photo!!!

anyone fancy a compitition same as my 'pub quiz' but with alcohol brands? nothing to do with bedlington but fun nevertheless!

    let me know....

  8. All of the fights took place on the mud covered car park to the right of the pub as you look at it, Good times.

all tarmac'd now, but fights still occur!

Was the Maket Tavern's real name the Howard Arms or have I got that wrong?

    yup, 'twas!

  9. Lets face it, presto's car park is big enough, never found a lack of spaces there! Shouldn't have to park in tavern car park, (don't think I would anyway for fear of vandals).

However I don't think the Tavern is doing itself any favours, I agree with Pete and his customer relations comment. The tavern is coming across as isolating itself. After all, I doubt the car park is heaving with customer's cars.

i think its disgusting if its true...

me personally, i find i often travel to pubs to see friends in the car, intending to only have non alcoholic beverages.

more often than not, i end up having a swift half, that leads to a swift 12 pints...

the car gets left in the safety of the car park.

if theirs a chance of a fine, in my intoxicated state i might deduce that the risk of getting caught drink driving may be less of a risk than getting clamped, and on the way home mow down some poor unfortunate person.

i wonder how the owners will feel if that person is close to them, and if they can live with the knowledge that, although 99% of the falt would lie with me for being so bliddy stupid, perhaps some of the other 1% may lie with them for forcing me to move my car after visiting a premisis that mainly serves alcohol....

i think i would prefer my carpark filled with sensible peoples cars overnight, rather than lie awake wondering if i forced a drunk to drive.

however, as i know the owners, even tho only briefly, i am very supprised if this is the case...

they seem a very level headed bunch that would only take action on repeat, prolific offenders...but like i say, i dont know any facts, just wanted my opinion accross.
