The problem with teachers is that they never left school! They were educated in school, they were in 6th form, they went to college/university, they became teachers! No life experience, no nothing except schools and you wonder why they have no understanding of what go's on in the REAL world!

Toffo there might be no time limitations on TUPE and you are correct in what you say for terms and conditions but,(you knew there was going to be a 'but') I was employed by BT (Print Centre) this was sold off to a company, EdoTech, yes our contracts were honoured in every capacity, but it was blatently obvious from the outset that they wanted us out and their own people in, and yes on minimum wage(Con if there ever was one, but that's another story) Everything we did was wrong, all the petty things came to bare. To cut a long story short, one by one the ex BT employees left for one reason or another even managers! My point is TUPE might work in the minds of those who think it is right, but if a new employer wants you out nothing will stop them achieving this, unions, laws, or whatever else you care to mention! So I don't think these people's jobs are as safe as made out! Yes I did leave, but not before I took the Bar-stewards to court for unfair dismissal and yes I won, they settled out of court two month before the court case, they didn't have a leg to stand on. Unfortunately I can't go into details because of the documents I had to sign to get my cash. The only thing I can say is that 'It wasn't their fault!' Get the picture?

Haven't you lot realised yet, we live in no man's land. Stuff the rest of them, the people of Bedlington need to stand alone, it's the only way we will get anything, notice I say the 'people' not any of the cooncils, Parish or County. The cooncils are only interested in pocketing money, they do not have the interests of the people of Bedlington at heart! Let's by-pass them and if they don't agree well hard bloody lines they will soon get the message that we don't want or need them! They need bringing to heel, not us!

By the way. Much praise to the said bikers who are often derided as thugs!

they collect donations of eggs from retailers (Asda, Tesco, ete etc) donated by members of the public and deliver them to the kids in hospital. Used to start at Bebside Inn and was organised by The Northumberland Bikers. Lots and lots of bikes where the police turn a blind eye to riding without crash helmets, bikers do not need to donate. It usually ended with a monster session on the beer at Bebside Inn with open air bands, tattooists and absolutely no bother! Recent years saw this generosity by the bikers as a chance to cash in on it, police withdrew their free support cooncils wanted money for blocking roads off and various other things people wanted money for, so a couple of years ago the organisers cancelled the run. I don't know whats happened since but if it's up and running again some deal must have been struck with the powers that be. I can only guess that this means less money and eggs are forwarded to the kids in hospital.

I've known the time when a penny a gallon increase in petrol could fetch a government to it's knees never mind 2p 3p or even 4p a LITRE. We can't smoke in our work places, why is it then that they can smoke in their offices at their place of work? Why can prisoners in jail smoke, that is a work place for the warders, surely? Laws need to be across the board or not at all. Why when we cheat the system we are punished but, when they do it nothing happens and don't even go there about the one or two scapegoats they put up to take the can. This 'Government' should be up on a fraud charge for the lies they spouted to get into office.For Gods Sake people lets get some back bone and make a stand! I'm stopping now because I am plucking boiling!!

polis heli-chopper was hovering above bedlington for a while about 10 last night.

DDR, the problem of the buses turning into the St Bedes entrance has been discussed on here and most people said why don't they widen the entrance at the ridge farm end and build a turning circle outside reception at Bennies, thus stopping the buses having to squeeze through the St Bedes entrance! Not only is banning 6th formers a good idea but banning parents as well, is also a good idea! Also Banning anyone connected with the school from parking in and around front and back Ridge Terrace, also getting people to read road signs would also be a good idea. This is a good Sign to learn 'NO EXIT' another one is 'ONE WAY' I would say that driving the wrong way in a one way system AND exiting a no exit on the same road should get you a £60 fine and a minimum 3 points if ENFORCED by our beloved Cooncil/Polis as they enforce it on every other road in the county! :dribble:

In a way foxy I wish she had crashed into me, it would have been interesting to hear what the local Polis had to say! I say 'local' loosely as they haven't a clue about Bedlington. There were some persons vandalising St Bedes one night so I phoned the law, 45 mins later no sign of law,thought they weren't coming so set off to Netto's for my beer only to find two coppers climbing the fence into West End School!
