Keith Scantlebury Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 How it ended up in Holland???????http://www.journalli...61634-33364537/ You know, I'm sure I can remember that memorial.
Malcolm Robinson Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 Well it seems they are looking for the right place to put it Keith.........
Keith Scantlebury Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Well it seems they are looking for the right place to put it Keith.........Where's that (apart from the church that is ) If I remember rightly it was in the school hall. Matty Hall would be just the man to ask, sure he would verify it as well, that's if he is up to it of course. Edited May 27, 2013 by keith
johndawsonjune1955 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 What a fantastic outcome.A piece of history being returned to its rightful place.Really kindhearted of that family to return it.
Keith Scantlebury Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 What a fantastic outcome.A piece of history being returned to its rightful place.Really kindhearted of that family to return it. I think we should ambush them when they arrive in Bedlington John. Tie them to the school gates and torture them till the truth comes out then charge them rent and compensation for depriving us of part of our history. It could be they are on a guilt trip to return it to put right the wrong doings of their relatives. . Its good of them to go out of their way to bring it back !!
Maggie/915 Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 The Journal today page3, has an article and picture of the war memorial."Long - lost memorial back in place at last"Hopefully people can read the article on line
Vic Patterson Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 Great to see it come home! and very thoughtful of the people to return it, I don't think it would be very difficult to back track it's journey from the fire!
Malcolm Robinson Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Back where it began............http://www.newspostleader.co.uk/news/local/memorial-dating-back-to-1920-is-returned-1-5775140
Symptoms Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 I was about to suggest that The North East War Memorials Project - www.newmp.org.uk/ - might have been interested in this story but they have a slightly dated page about it already ...Does anybody know if the Memorial at the Grammar School is still there, now that the place is called the High School?
keith lockey Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 When will the memorial be displayed at St. Cuthberts?Symptoms, I'm sure I saw a memorial at the High School some years ago when I was doing night classes. (I may be wrong)But I know one wall was festooned with notables who had attended the Grammar School.
Adam Hogg Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 The most important thing is it is back where it belongs, a great thanks to the family who kept a hold of it for all these years and kept it is great condition as well.
