  4. Happy birthday gggg, hope your having a great day!
  5. Yesterday I saw two vehicles park illegally right in front of the crossing, putting on 4-ways doesn't make it legal!
  6. Well ggg or gggg I like it, G,s
  7. I like it! LIVE! It looks quite busy out there. thank you. GGG.
  8. I received my copy yesterday and have just finished reading it, excellent book. Just waiting for HPW to write his book bringing us up to the present date!
  9. Yes Foxy fond memories, I can almost smell the creosote and seaweed on the staithes, that photo must be from around the high ferry(chain)? we used the low ferry to go pick williks.
  10. Thank you Steve, that brings back lots of fond memories, at school seeing the first chimney going up and then several times working there in construction and definitely a sight saying you are "nearly homeâ€.

  18. In the book "The people's history Bedlingtonshire remembered†by Evan Martin it states "According to the Swan family (formerly Hirst Head Farm) papers, the Market Cross was erected on its present site in 1782.†In another book by Evan Martin "The Archive Photographs series Bedligtonshire†there is a photograph from 1906 titled "Sunday Best†of six miners posing on a Sunday morning in their Sunday best. On that photograph the ground is disturbed and the paving stones are identical to the picture on the right posted above by Eggy!
  19. Thats what I've seen Soak or $100 donation.
  20. I agree Tonyp, I think it is fantastic how it has grown and the amount of money and awareness it has created, but its just not for me!
  21. The terms "Oil sands†are used in a positive light, "Tar sands†are usually negative! The bituminous deposits are a major resource to Alberta, Canada and the rest of the world. Oil being produced by a civilised country using the latest environmental techniques available, while developing and implementing the highest possible standards in the World. I'd suggest not believing most of the publications coming out of the U.S.
  22. I read a statement of their accounts that said the amount actually going to research has gone up from 7.5% to 10% the rest goes to administration and advertising etc. I only donate to "local funds†for heart and cancer fundraising.
  23. Respect, Pride, Appreciation whatever its called I would think starts in the home and school, but it also comes from todays media! Councils and governments can look after buildings, roads and infrastructures but its family's, schools and youth centres that can instil pride to look after them!I think it is a minority that causes the problems like vandalism and littering. Not sure how you attract businesses to areas that don't appear to support them!
  24. I have just ordered it (used) from Amazon for $ 0.02 cents! And $6 freight!
  25. TomTom, What do you mean by "dead" ? And what would you like to see?
