  1. Thanks for posting those photos Maggie. The last photo looks like a Waco UPF-7, an early thirties American bi-plane, (used extensively a training aircraft, just a bit before my time!) I hope to take a ride in one next summer! There is a museum giving rides in a Stearman and a Waco! That looks like a close call in the playground in the second photo!
  2. Wishing all my forum friends and their families a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
  3. Happy birthday Eileen and Keith.
  4. I watched the lights being switched on! we saw lots of people going to the Market Place, (even tried to follow it on the radio) we don't see a lot of the decorations but what we see are very nice, the people responsible should be very proud! I watch the camera lots, see all the illegal parking while dashing into the shops! see the punters popping out the pub for a fag! (one often accompanied by a little dog on a leash!) see the early morning shop deliveries, I'm really surprised how much traffic there is! I used Google Earth to identify the shops that are so popular! 5.30am Malcom, thats just 1/2 hour before our evening news then off to bed! The down side is I can't receive the camera on my Toshiba but only on my iPad, which recently logs me out every time I leave! (its a royal pain logging in every time) Well done camera and well done Christmas lights!
  5. Happy birthday Keith hope you have a great day.
  6. tomtom, I think it would be 1958 59 ish! I expect it is no longer there! which would be a pity.
  7. Carving a balsa wood DH Vampire was my first (8 years old) then came Airfix, KeilKraft and glow plug engines, JetX engines, control line and gliders (couldn't afford radio control) Ashington ATC 1110 sq. Then came the real thing the R.A.F. (15 year old) Symptoms The Model Shop was at the bottom of Bowes St (later I lived at the top of Bowes St) and Biggles books were my favourites! "I'm bored†is a new word that came out with electronics!
  8. I can only find the small windows bellow the cockpit right hand side on the Harrow, I still think the nose appears Harrow but can't explain missing wheel spats!
  9. Foxy, I think Adam may have it, Bristol Bombay 1939-1944 but I'm still looking, It may be a Handley Page 54 Harrow, 1937-1945, the nose is "more" correct but the wheel spats are not correct! the small windows are correct, I'm leaning towards the Harrow!
  10. Tonyp, Symptoms, There is a lot of merit for both systems but not everyone in lucky to have good health all their working life (I have been quite lucky!) not all poor health is self inflicted! Heredity, FAS, ADHD, accidents etc. How could we separate them? Fact, the rich will always be at the front! is it fair? shortens the line a bit... If you could sort out the malingerers, leaches, etc from the system I think most health services would be quite successful, Q. where would drunks and drug addicts fit in the scale along with obese and smokers?
  11. I like all of the traditional carols, but only a few of the Christmas songs, I do like the late Rita MacNeil's "Now the Holly bears a berry†from her CD "Now the bells ring†I fondly remember going carol singing with my brothers and sisters, and being "the bairn†pushed to the front wi me hand oot! I make up a CD (remember them!) of very mixed seasonal songs and sing along (but only when driving alone)
  12. How much snow would you like? Got tons to spare here, how cold would you like it? It was -37c a few nights ago
  13. HPW that car with the Union Jack on the roof was brother Charles's (R.I.P.) 1931 Morris Minor! my first car was a BMW (Isetta, yes a bubble car, I went on my honeymoon in it ) Pleased to have AWD right now, 2ft fresh snow –37c two nights ago. Never thought I'd like heated seats! Yes I remember the "Yellow peril"!Speaking of radios I remember my dad and I going to get tape players, I got the Pye Auto-reverse cassette player, dad bought the 8 track!Still prefer my model T's

  23. I bought a copy from Amazon, (CDN$ 0.02 $6.49 postage!) an excellent book, at the back is the Bedlington anthem by Mary Wade, it is written on sheet music, not having any musical inclination I was wondering what the tune would be, any ideas HPW?
  24. Hi Foxy, unfortunately I can't receive channel 4, I bet it was a great program, sounds fascinating, we do get quite a lot of UK documentaries on "public television†but they are not very well publicised in advance, there often on U.S. channels. Did you happen to get the name of the documentary? The BBC website has some great links to the Spitfire etc. (we did get the England football game!)
