Am I right in saying Keenlysides at Bedlington Station opened a shop on the front street! I believe it is where Zuenziga (?) and Tino's deli are now. It was all one shop. What happened to it? It didn't last long!

Sorry Foxy - I have great difficulty in even remembering Clegg.
If your memories that bad, stick your head in the oven gas mark 9

No one voted Brown in, No one voted Cameron in - they both got in by default.
Did you forget the Invertebrate Clegg? He said after the recent heavy defeat in the elections "Its been a bad night for the Party" well I have to disagree, I was on my way out for a pint but instead stopped at home and had a great "Party" rewinding live TV and watching him Squirm.

are you the offspring family of the bells motor cycils from the 1950s and 1960 ?
No

they didn't get what they were wearing under their skirts at Moldens -
Well I'm not putting a picture of that up, In fact I'm pleased to say I havn't got one !!
-
Just had a look at Front Street east on Google Earth. Moldens and Feasters were where the solicitors are now.
Your right Canny lass. Do you think all these men got their skirts at Feasters?
-
What about Ernie Gurney the butcher ... didn't he have a shop on Front St somewhere beyond the Northumberland Arms? Did Matty Binks the plumber have premises down there as well (mid 60s and before)?
I seem to remember opposite there was a little farm or small-holding of sorts owned by the Pattersons ... I think they may also have had haulage lorries; I knew the son but at the moment can't recall his name ... I think he may have joined the cops but I could be wrong on that.
Did you forget Charlie Carr, Louie Dunn and Reeds the Cobbler?

i i think this is up to the individual to go back down the mines
Thatcher made sure that didn't happen.

It's the solicitors now.

I wish we did have a time machine, bro - then I could leave you in the fifties or sixties where your adled brain belongs. Watch my lips - Feasters and Moldens were next to the florists - roughly where the solicitors is now. You can't even remember the corner shop - Binks - between the Whitley school and the Coffin Chapel. Oh for a photo of all these shops, please, someone.
Must be your brain that is adled, Binks shop is on the photo.

I know weve discussed this on the phone bro, but im STILL convinced the shop / shops we are on about was just BEFORE you got to the Northumberland arms....ie, just after the Monkey. Thanks to the rest of the people here, the names of Feasters and Moldens do ring a big bell. I just cant remember them being around the corner from the Northumberland which is what you are saying. I KNOW the florists shop WAS something else before it became established as a florist, but what it was i cant remember. Another thing to think of bro. Why would we go there for our school trousers ? As so rightly pointed out by Canny Lass, they were the suppliers of Westridge's uniforms. It's a time machine we need :-)))
Are these the shops you mean? The florists you mention and to the other side of the Northumberland Arms was James Millnes Cycle Shop.
-
Proudlocks, was that not a bakers shop at the station, dont quote me on that as I could be way of track
Gelsons.
-
Now that you mention those names they do ring a bell. (So where have I got Proudlocks from???) But were Feasters & Moldens connected? I vaguely remember going to the back of one shop and into the other. I may be wrong on that. But am I right in saying they stood where the florists is now?
It's the solicitors now.

i have just read in bedlington history about a dance hall at bedlington station . the address was stated at the cooperative hall on station road .can any one tell me if there had been a one there i can remember the clayton dance hall but not the other one . thanking you .
That would be the Reay Hall bedies, but there was'nt any grass in there except maybe the lasses skirts.
-
How about Feasters for the Ladies and Percy Molden for the Men? Symp or Vic should remember them.

And So Say All Of Us!!!
By the way Keith I'm off on a weeks holiday but by the time I get back do you think you could explain to me what a Monkeys Chuff Is? It sounds quite interesting.

foxy - could it have been Coultas? There was a Cliff Coultas (he would have been maybe 65 to 70 now but died just a few years ago ... he was in the cops), an Alan who I knew would be 59ish now, and I think there was a younger brother Keith. Cliff and Alan (Al's nickname was Cowt) were Westridge lads early to mid 60s.
Does anybody know where Alan is now as it would be great to make contact with him again?
Your right with the name Symp but I could'nt tell you where they are now.
-
Cheers Foxy, will attempt that now. Come to think of it the Name Keith Coulson rings a ding-a-ling.
Think the name might be Coultiss
