  1. One bites the dust, can't help thinking the guy is being hung out to dry as a scapegoat. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1345237/David-Chaytor-sentenced-breach-public-trust-MPs-dont-it.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  2. GGG, At least us plebs would get to vote for the country's leader. I think our Royals provide a function, I just don't think it should be constitutional. I liked your joke too Mr D. Merlin, first time I have heard the war cry 'up the revolution' in support of the establishment. Brian, you got the fox on your head or your chin?
  3. Because people disassociate themselves from the meats on offer at the supermarket and the animals they come from. So a lamb chop is a lamb chop whilst a fox is one of those pretty little dog like creatures which frolic in the sun with their cubs……….NOT!
  4. It would seem the North East have been snubbed at this year's Britain's got Talent? Yet another example of the northern fringe of England stopping at Manchester! http://talent.tellymix.co.uk/2010/news/21837-britains-got-talent-2011-live-audition-dates-confirmed-with-a-new-city.html
  5. I think its a strange concept for a 21st century democracy........
  6. Whey Ya Taak........... Beaten the Aussies in their back yard......well done chaps.
  7. I say Tarquin where's the North East, that'll be Lincoln isn't it? http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2011/01/03/north-east-tourism-chiefs-in-warning-at-start-of-year-61634-27922892/
  8. Does Newcastle have enough designer shops for Posh? http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2011/01/03/magpies-duel-with-spurs-for-david-beckham-61634-27922946/
  9. Maybe this should have its own thread.............. http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2011/01/03/northumberland-council-chiefs-upset-by-services-threat-61634-27922924/
  10. As far as I know it did change hands but between brothers. The planning for a care home has been enacted? They got permission to demolish as long as the rebuild took place straightaway. If you look at the plans which have been passed it will dominate the Market Place area as the building comes right out to the narrow footpath there. No wonder the planners lost the old school planning appeal!
  11. I don't think he is the highest paid on the NCC books.......... But you have to make savings where you can these days...... ?????????????? http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/11/11/northumberland-county-council-slammed-for-cutting-back-on-remembrance-wreaths-115875-22708115/
  12. Do we really have that many members with birthdays today? If so; Happy Birthday everyone........
  13. Hope your feet are dry Brian....................thats not a joke!
  14. Long one sorry............ Company Memo -------------------------------------------------- FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 1, 2009 RE: Gala Christmas Party I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols... feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 PM. Exchanges of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over £10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Patty Company Memo -------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 2, 2009 RE: Gala Holiday Party In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Hanukkah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on, we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians and to those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree and no Christmas carols will be sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now? Happy Holidays to you and your family, Patty Company Memo -------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 3, 2009 RE: Holiday Party Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table, you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only", you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? And sorry, but forget about the gift exchange, no gifts are allowed since the union members feel that £10.00 is too much money and the executives believe £10.00 is a little chintzy. REMEMBER: NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. Company Memo ------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director To: All Employees DATE: October 4, 2009 RE: Generic Holiday Party What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs.. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet, and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each group will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, the Grill House asks that no cross-dressing be allowed, apparently because of concerns about confusion in the restrooms. Sorry. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. I am sorry to report that we cannot control the amount of salt used in the food . The Grill House suggests that people with high blood pressure taste a bite first. There will be fresh "low sugar" fruits as dessert for diabetics, but the restaurant cannot supply "no sugar" desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!? Patty Company Memo -------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All F*%^ing Employees DATE: October 5, 2009 RE: The F*%^ing Holiday Party I've had it with you vegetarian pricks!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your f*%^ing salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW! The rest of you f*%^ing wierdos can kiss my *ss. I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die, The B*tch from H*ll!!! Company Memo -------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Joan Bishop, Acting Human Resources Director DATE: October 6, 2009 RE: Patty Lewis and Holiday Party I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Lewis a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay. Happy Holidays! Joan
  15. There are certainly mixed messages coming across with this stuff. To me it now looks like if NCC are successful in their civil case the CPS have been at least negligent if not incompetent? Its got to be in the public interest to prove this one way or the other!
  16. Bit more......... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1342333/The-700-000-golden-goodbye-Shame-fat-cat-bosses-given-huge-pay-rises-pension-boosts-just-council-axed.html
  17. Slovakia could be the spark as it mulls over coming out of the Euro............
  18. Thing is sizsells when we are all complaining about lack of facilities in our town we might just be about to have a small glimpse into why.......... Can't quite believe the CPS stance?
  19. http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2010/12/24/legal-action-over-wansbeck-council-finances-61634-27879584/
  20. Hmm foxy, it was a pretty dull place when Tudor had it!
  21. Could be some of our more local talent thought they were above the law if the front page of this weeks NPL is correct.
  22. I think you should have chosen your words a bit more wisley in the first place if you want an honest opinion OK, sorry you took it personally it really wasn't meant that way! I would question anything coming out of NCC at the moment seeing as I have a letter and a verbal guarantee by a lead officer and a leading elected member that we could use the 'Golf Club' money for a new capital project in the Town. That ain't going to happen now.............. (But if there was a decent road going into Gallagher Park that money would have been a dammed good start for something like a small multi use sports and leisure centre!)
  23. and a 3 metre path it doesnt say CYCLE path No it doesn't but it is to include a footpath so maybe a 2 metre cycleway and a 1 metre footpath?
  24. Sizsells, There are two councils, one the Parish/Town council, and there are a couple of Town councilors on this board who can answer that for themselves, the other NCC who as far as I can see have this exciting proposal for the future development of Bedlington!
  25. Isn't it just Phillipa's cycle path, the Sustrans cycle way? Thats going behind the cop shop then splitting off down to Gallagher Park and the other way across over to Front Street. So why has,nt ANYONE from the cooncil been shouting from the rooftops what there future plans are? Coz it's not the chuffing coouncil thats trying to get this stuff done! BTW sizsells I'm not questioning your integrity and the fact that you have seen this notice, only what it could mean.
