  1. Never got Brand's humour, in fact I dislike the guy, but I do agree with his politics, with a small p. Watched him destroy an American TV pack of hyenas recently who were trying to trip him up on what he was saying.
  2. Synergy, like a best mate who came to stay with you for a while but who is packing their bags now to leave! Great shows, great month again well done lad and lasses!
  3. NCC Area Meeting. PUBLIC QUESTION TIME. Malcolm Robinson, West Bedlington Town Council Mr Robinson referred to the Tesco development in Bedlington and said the 'deal' had been that Tesco would acquire the 'Gap Site' and the car park in exchange for interest in the 6 new shops and offices above, which were to be built fronting onto Bedlington Market Place. As Tesco had varied the covenant on the car park and agreed to selective landscaping of the now overgrown 'Gap Site' it would seem they had taken ownership of the assets in question. If that development was cancelled were ratepayers and the Bedlington Community adequately protected in the original contract and, if so, how? Mr Robinson suggested it was a possibility that the 'Gap Site' and car park might revert back into public ownership and Tesco may be held liable for costs incurred or queried if two of Bedlington's most valuable Town assets had been given away? It was agreed that a written response be provided.

  13. Unbelievably the head honchos in Poland have just sequestrated 50% of private pension funds and brought them under state control. No doubt they can now prop up their banks a while longer! By any other name this would be daylight robbery or looting but shows the utter contempt the political class have for their electorate many of whom will now have much reduced pensions if any at all. Course the same thing happened in the UK, just ask a long serving post worker! At some point the worm will have to turn!

  17. West Bedlington Town Councilors are to hold surgeries in the first stages of developing an evidence based Town Plan. The plan will provide a vital influence in the planning process to help ensure Bedlington's voice and Bedlington needs help shape the future of Bedlington. As part of the process of delivering its Town Plan, West Bedlington Town Council will start by surveying the views of residents with a questionnaire drawn up on a range of general topics including housing, highways, health, leisure and local government. West Bedlington Town Councilors will be in the Community Centre Front Street West, from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm on Thursday 19th September 2013 and from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 21st September 2013, to invite views and comments and help complete the questionnaire from anyone who lives within the West Bedlington Town Council area. Questionnaires are to be distributed to all households within the West Bedlington Town area from 6th September 2013 with completed forms to be returned by 30th September 2013. The Council will enter all completed questionnaires with a name and address into a cash draw and the 5 winners will be selected at random. Further copies of the Questionnaire can be requested and will be available from the West Bedlington Town Council offices at the Community Centre, Front Street West, Bedlington. Councillor Malcolm Robinson a member of the Councils Communications and Publicity Group believes the survey "is a great opportunity for residents to get involved in the early stages of the Town's plan, a plan which belongs to the Bedlington community, is prepared by the Bedlington community and delivered by the Bedlington community. For once Bedlington residents will have a major say in not only the direction their Town Council takes with regard to various activities but also in the regeneration and development of our Town. I hope as many of our residents fill in these questionnaires as possible so we get a good cross representation of views.” West Bedlington Town Council is looking for a Plan that reflects the views of the community, identifies which features and local characteristics are valued, highlights local problems and opportunities and sets out what the community wants in the future. Once the results of the survey are analysed, the Council will use the results to help influence its future spending and service delivery.
