Web "piracy" Is Good For The Major Studios - Study Result!

You'd be surprised at what I like, Merc'. Linkin Park, some of Muse (not all!). I basically like what I like and unfortunately radiohead isn't one that inspires me. But for the record, my all time favourite songs are Is your love strong enough - Bryan Ferry & Goodnight travel well - The Killers. (It is the only Killers song I like - the rest of their stuff is rubbish.) But I do tend to listen to a lot of 70's & 80s stuff.- 14 replies

Pleased it went well, Merc, Monday's a bad night for me, too, it's my Carmen Miranda crossdressing night, and to be honest last night wasn't the kind of weather for stilleto heels and a fruit salad turban. But I might try to get up in my Princess Leia Organa wire-mesh bra and panties in the summer.

Good Jokes: Not For The Faint-Hearted (Adult content)

I've just been to a red Indian scalping party. It was hair-raising. There was a halfbreed Indian there; half Sioux and half Irish. He was called Tom O'Hawk. There was a young lad there called Colt Winchester. I thought he's a son of a gun. There was a guy reciting poetry whilst twirling a lasso. He was a poet lariat. -
Well it might be working for you two but it ain't with my computer.

Hope you got my reply, cheers Malcolm.

All you have to do, Pete, is type in the word Bedlington and you invaribly get a picture of the dog. It doesn't matter if you type anything else in you just get 50 million pictures of BT dogs. It's infuriating. I've got nothing against the dog, but if I wanted a picture of one I would have typed in Bedlington Terrier dog. AAARRRGGGHHH!

I was at a karaoke on Friday night and a piece of selophane with a ribbon around it got up to sing. It was a wrapper. -
NEW REQUEST Foxy - or anyone - have you got any photos of Doyle's Shop that used to stand at the top of the Free Woods down Stead Lane. It is a house now. Any info would be appreciated.

Billy Woollett, my next door neighbour at Terrier Close, was in the little signal box behind the chemist. He forgot his bait box one day and we took it down for him. He was snug as a bug in there with his own coal fire and kettle. (Actually I'm saying signal box it may have been something else - maybe changing the lines? I'll have to find that out!)

They get away with it on CD's by adding additional tracks - not previously heard. The reason there have not been heard is because they are rubbish and were rejected from the album when it first came out. I bought Justin Hayward's first solo LP (vinyl) then bought the CD because of additional tracks. I felt cheated because the added tracks were below standard, in fact they were banal. You could have the same argument about VHS & DVD. Why should I buy a DVD when I already bought the video years before. But then they tease you with the director's cut, followed by extended version followed by blu ray. It's a con, that's all, and they are raking money in. So I can understand the reason for piracy and file sharing, right or wrong.- 14 replies

I don't download films or music but I can understand the point of view of someone who has bought the vinyl record in the 60's or 70's and goes on Limewire or something and downloads it from a file sharing site to put on his hard drive. Why not? He has already bought the record so why should he go out and buy the CD. Why not take your vinyl to a shop and do a swap, record for CD, otherwise you are buying something you already bought years before.- 14 replies

Actually all of them. I want to see how the township has developed over the centuries. I have been following the thread on Bedla and on how Bedlington got its name, and I have a book SOMEWHERE on St. Cuthberts - but I cannot lay my hand on it! How settlements grow into towns and villages then cities fascinate me and I want to see how Bedlington grew up. So if you can post some maps on the site that would be great, cheers.
-
Yeah, I know, it's just annoying when you google Bedlington and get nothing but pictures of moon-faced lamb-dogs. I was looking for an old map of Bedlington - I know I've seen a good site but just can't find it - and all I got was the dog and the football team. I will not be beaten, failure isn't an option.
-
I am sick and tired of getting pictures of Bedlington Terrier dogs whenever I type in Bedlington on Google. Type in axe-weilding Bedlington killers and you get a curly-haired mutt looking at you. Type in Bedlington invaded by aliens from outer space and you get - dog; Old maps of Bedlington - dog; Old shops in Bedlington - dog; famous people of Bedlington - dog. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I've even spelled Terrier wrong in my rage AAARRRGGGHHH!

I was amazed at the date for the footbridge being dismantled - 1973. But I remember going to Newbiggin on the train, from that station, in the sixties, and that was the last time I was on a train until I went to summer camp at Stirling University - over thirty years later. (Still the same sandwiches!)

There was another game but I can't remember the name. The smallest one used to get on the back of someone bigger - like a knight on a horse! - and attack a similar mounted opponent. The idea was to drag your 'enemy' off the other kid. Many jumpers and shirts got ripped in these jousts. -

We used to fill in coals as well for the old folk. The games we used to play were weird and wonderful - British Bulldog, Let the rabbits out, Moont the cuddy, potsies (with muggies & penkas) - canon - with a can and stick and a tennis ball!!!! And yes, I too remember Chipmunk crisps - oxo flavour, yummy.
