  1. Please, Keith, not at this time in the morning! Very very funny. I'm pleased I'm veggie, Foxy, so I am not saddled with the burden of jockeying for position at the checkout where the queues seemed to be stalled due to irate customers who mustang around for their money back. Still, you can chew on some Tick Tacks while you wait.
  2. In the right area, Adam.
  3. I started work at Prestos at the time the Music Box opened and I spent half my pay in there - The Moody Blues records. Sylvia was the manageress.
  4. Good guess, Adam, but wrong. There is one specific role they have in common.
  5. Hi, Bill, I remember my nana telling us the only building at Puddlers Lane was the farmhouse. I believe that is the house on it's own next to where the Terrier Pub stood. The rest, she said, was all fields. We moved to Terrier Close in 1960, just when they finished building Terrier Close. As for photos...sorry, can't help there, wish I could.
  6. I'll swap you computers, Pete, because it doesn't matter what I type in - ie the Bedlington word - I get a ruddy dog. Honest, this isn't an anti-dog rant. I was looking for archaeology in Bedlington = dog; old maps of Bedlington = dog. fifty shades of Bedlington terrier dog and a handful of t'other.
  7. LADS!!!! I said Google IMAGES.
  8. OKAY VARMINTS - WHAT CONNECTS ALL THESE - OTHER THAN THEM BEING ACTORS!!!
  9. BEDLINGTON'S ANTHEM
  10. The girlfriend reckons my tackle reminds her of a car....a little red mini with flat tyres.
  11. Anyway lads, if it had been me she would have thought I was a pole vaulter in training.
  12. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! You see what I mean! You type into Google images - archaeology in Bedlington - and what is the first image you get - a book on ruddy Bedlington Terrier dogs.
  13. HPW - do you mean Puddler's Lane? I remember my granny saying Terrier Close, where I live, was called Puddler's Lane.
  14. I forgot about Miss Payne, Keith, but Peggy Ashdown is stll knocking about. One of the things I remember from the Whitley is sports day on the middle green betweem Mister Halls classroom and the main building. Me an Phil Temple were up against each other in the final high jump. Unfortunately I was wearing a pair of baggy shorts (probably my bro's hand-me-downs) and they caught the bar, knocking it off. But my memory of the Whitley is limited - even worse is the Oval School, I remember very little there.
  15. For the first time in my life I can honestly say I am TOTALLY disillusioned with our political choices. I seriously cannot see the point in voting anymore, it just seems futile, especially with what we've got to choose from. The above is what I said sometime ago and, alas, I think a lot of people feel the same way. In the last few years I have seen a lot of people voting BNP and now UKIP. Gordo effectively destroyed the Labour Party and left them leaderless and the Tories are like a same old record with the needle stuck. It's totally disheartening. Pericles must be turning in his tumulus.
  16. Everybody's got to have a hobby. Anyway, do you seriously think I'd be seen wearing a parka in public!!! Sooo naff.
  17. Mr Hossler lived just down the road from us - if that who 'Nicky' is. The other teacher I remember was Butler. But Matty Hall had us practice kicking a football into his desk. Here's some photos. I can name some of the kids but not all. (I'll post named ones later.) But if anyone can put monikers to faces I'd be obliged. Neil watson is holding the football and there is Stu Dobson, Lol Cummings, Phil temple, Rob Lee, Derek Wilkinson, one of the Olivers(?) - the rest unknown. And of course Matty 'don't I look like George Clooney' Hall.
  18. What year was the train crash?
  19. They don't write songs like that anymore. I'll never wash my face again.
  20. Forget Planet X / Nibiru, Gordo's back. The Mayan Prophecy has come true. We're doomed. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
  21. Symptoms I found some photos from Westridge about your time. Are these any good?
  22. You'd be surprised at what I like, Merc'. Linkin Park, some of Muse (not all!). I basically like what I like and unfortunately radiohead isn't one that inspires me. But for the record, my all time favourite songs are Is your love strong enough - Bryan Ferry & Goodnight travel well - The Killers. (It is the only Killers song I like - the rest of their stuff is rubbish.) But I do tend to listen to a lot of 70's & 80s stuff.
  23. Somebody actually paid money to listen to Radiohead!!!! They should pay the public money for the displeasure.
