The Budget - "I make this pledge..."
Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) replied to threegee's topic in Chat Central
And how many pledges do we here day after day, by all members of all parties. Surly you've stopped believing what politicians are forced to say up front in campaigns or interviews with TV and newspaper reporters. On your journey through life when you found out that almost every plan you made; during the many mistakes you made and experience you gained by making those mistakes, had to be changed to meet your aims did you not come to the simple conclusion - try your best and have no regrets if you get it wrong, how else would you gain experience. Don't give up something as a penalty for getting something wrong! One of the examples Google brings up for Forfeiture :- forfeiture ˈfɔːfɪtʃə/ noun the loss or giving up of something as a penalty for wrongdoing. "magistrates ordered the forfeiture of his computer" As you relax in your declining years just pretend your Jiminy Cricket, and you won't have to sing and dance in the rain, just whistle! I rest my case -

The Budget - "I make this pledge..."

Seems fair to me, situations change therefore promises are updated or changed. How many of the population will it affect? by Sam Brodbeck - The Telegraph 8 MARCH 2017 • 1:18PM Millions of self-employed workers face a hike in their National Insurance rates, bringing them closer in line with conventional employees. The move will cost 60p a week to the average self-employed person and save the Government £145m by 2021/22, the Chancellor Philip Hammond said. The change will particularly hit partners in professional firms, such as accountants, surveyors and lawyers. In another attempt to close the tax gap between different workers, the tax-free dividend allowance, often used by company directors, is to be cut from £5,000 to £2,000. The situation now People who work for themselves pay two types of National Insurance, a tax that funds benefits like the state pension and job seeker's allowance. For the 2017-18 tax year they pay Class 2 NI at £2.85 a week on profits between £6,025 and £8,164. If profits are above £8,164, these are subject to Class 4 NI at 9pc. Profits above £45,000 are taxed at 2pc. This is in contrast to employed workers who pay Class 1 NI at 12pc on earnings between £8,164 and £45,000. As with the self-employed, they pay 2pc on earnings above £45,000. What's changing? But the Chancellor said the current system "undermines the fairness of the tax system". To combat this, from April 2018 Class 2 NI will be abolished as planned, and Class 4 NI will rise from 9pc to 10pc. In April 2019 rates will rise again, to 11pc. All self-employed people earning less than £16,250 will pay less in NI as a result, Mr Hammond said in today's Budget. Why change the system? The number of self-employed workers has exploded in recent years - from just 3.8 million registered self-employed in 2008 to 4.6 million in 2015. When the new "single-tier" state pension took effect in April 2017, the old system of basic and additional pensions were abolished. Payments under the new system are more generous than the old basic state pension and as the self-employed did not have access to the additional pension, they will see increased pensions as a result. But until the Chancellor announced the increased in the self-employed's NI rates, they had not paid for the uplift in the new system. Mr Hammond said it was unfair that an employee earning £32,000 will pay £6,170 in NI, between themselves and their employer, while someone working for themselves will pay just £2,300. He added differences in relation to benefits given to parents will also be addressed via a consultation. Income tax In line with other workers, the self-employed have a "personal allowance" which means they can earn up to £11,500 in 2017-18 without paying income tax. But in contrast to employees, they pay income tax on the previous tax year's profits, revenues after business expenses. They can also deduct certain costs and even losses from previous years in some cases. A self-employed person pays both income tax and National Insurance on the 31 January based on profits from the previous year. So in January 2017 they would pay the balance due from the 2015-16 tax year. However, HMRC will ask for payments "on account" for the following year's expected profits on both 31 January and 31 July each year. The employed and self-employed use our public services in the same way — but they do not pay for them in the same way,” Hammond said. The Chancellor said an employed person earning £32,000 would rack up National Insurance contributions, between them and their employer, of £6,170, while a self-employed person earning the same amount would pay just £2,300. This difference was previously designed to reflect the variation in pension and benefits entitlements, but changed last year with the introduction of the new state pension, which gave self-employed people more entitlements. -

Hitler believed that the human gene pool could be improved by using selective breeding similar to how farmers breed superior cattle strains. In the formulation of their racial policies, Hitler’s government relied heavily upon Darwinism, especially the elaborations by Spencer and Haeckel. As a result, a central policy of Hitler’s administration, The House of Lords, was the development and implementation of policies designed to protect the ‘superior race’. This required at the very least preventing the ‘inferior races’ from mixing with those judged superior, in order to reduce contamination of the latter’s gene pool. The ‘superior race’ belief is based on the theory of group inequality within each species, a major presumption and requirement of Darwin’s original ‘survival of the fittest’ theory. This House of Lords philosophy has culminated in the ‘final solution’, the extermination of approximately 17,410,742 Remain voters who belong to, what the old fogies have judged as ‘inferior races’. Expunging of the Judeo-Christian doctrine of the divine right of ‘Exit’ voters (nearly typed humans!) from the EU theology and its schools, and replacing it with ‘House of Lordsism’, openly contributes to the acceptance of Social Darwinism that culminated in the tragedy of the referendum. = YES they should be abolished. Or The 300 House of Lords members (less The Lord Speaker, the Chairman of Committees, and the Principal Deputy Chairman - paid from the House of Lords budget & Government ministers - paid by the relevant government departments) can now debate/obstruct for years to come, at £300, per day, attendance allowance thus ensuring a greater inheritance to their own offspring that will survive and, using whatever entrance fee is in place at the time, take their place in the House of Lords. When all the debating and amendments to all the relevant bills are completed, following the decision to trigger Article 50 in 23 1/2 days time (approx) are made it will then be left to the government of the day - The Official Monster Raving Loony Party .- to implement it's manefesto and Brexit :- The definitive Welsh Assembly Loony Party Manicfesto 2016 28th April 16 We will feed the Welsh dragon as its looking a bit thin due to government cuts We will try to find a breeding pair of dragons as the Welsh Dragon is an endangered species. We will Report the Welsh dragon to the monopolies commission (there is only One) In the Interests of national security we will ban all Leeks from the Welsh Assembly canteen To save money we will reduce the Welsh assembly from 60 seats to 5 and create the Welsh Ensemble . Man versus horse and Bog snorkling to be an Olympic sport. We will create massive factories in South Wales manufacturing Bird nests and noodles and then flood china with them… well they did it to our steel, We will Legalise Broccoli We will give the Letter K a sound We will have different Coloured Dragons on the Welsh Flag. Anyone over 5 years old who can hold a crayon will be eligible to vote. We will Introduce Mermaids to Tiger Bay to increase tourism. We will make Swansea Airport the Hub of the Welsh Space Program. We promise that should we be elected we will not initiate any of our policies. New Proposals In the light of proposals at the Labour Party Conference under its new leadership with Jeremy Corbyn we have come up with 2 new proposals for Defense : We will get rid of Trident and replace it with a new Tuning Fork. We shall keep the Falklands and Give Jeremy Corbyn to the Argentinians. Tuition fees Well once again the main parties are stealing our election proposals. Today Ed Moribund has declared that they would reduce University Tuition fees to much media acclaim. I didn’t notice the same amount of acclaim when we announced in our Manicfesto: E. Education. All University Tuition fees for women would be free as we are strong believers in Female intuition. (Due to gender equality laws we would include males as well) New proposals We propose to cancel stamp duty…….stamps are expensive enough so we shouldn’t have to pay duty on them. Besides leap years, there needs to be hop, skip, and jump years (thanks to Brassdancer) Parliament will be relocated to Wormwood Scrubs, reducing the commuting costs for most Peers and MPs. (thanks to WolfBaginski) Heritage refund We will reduce the national debt by selling the castles back to the French. (Buyer dismantles) Points make prizes Tax payers to receive Nectar Points from HMRC E.U Budget Adjustment and other news We can confirm that the Loony party was not notified of the E.U budget demand of £1.7bn before George Osborne or David Cameron. Also in the news the BBC in keeping with their policy of not important news coverage will be televising the incarceration of Oscar Pistorius 24 hours a day. Yes you can see the riveting instalments of Oscar sitting in a cell for 5 years. You can see Oscar walking around his cell and his special hour of Recreation. .Ping Pong exclusives …..Don’t miss the Slopping Out Special Highlights. Asda’s equality policy The Loony Party being strong advocates of equal pay agree that the women workers of Asda should have equal pay with the men. We have it on good authority that George Osborne also agrees with this, and to save needless court costs, has asked for the men’s wages to be reduced accordingly. Recycled Policies It is proposed that all, leaflets, brochures, circulars, manifestoes, posters etc, used by any Political Party during an election, be collected up recycled and given to the local Food Banks for free distribution as toilet paper. Unicorns and free travel We propose to make unicorns a protected species? It is proposed to introduce free travel on trams and buses for musicians as they bring joy into people’s lives…. Obviously OR ..................................... we could go on and on and on for ever. I rest my case and I will not respond to any other theory. 118,930 signatures

Never been but April, according to the 'On-Line' world does appear to be the best time to visit :- What season is it right now in Peru? Peru Seasons & Climate. The peak season for travel in Peru is between April and October. Although these months are winter south of the equator, it is locally considered summer in the Andes of Peru because it is the dry, sunny season, and the best time of year for travel and trekking. BUT The summer (December – March) is the wettest season, with frequent heavy showers. The temperatures are higher than in summer, but the nights can get very cold. In Apriland October the weather can be unpredictable with varying conditions much like the UK. AND From November to March is the rainy season in Machu Picchu, while between April to November is the dry shiny season. The rain months take approximately the 80% of the annual volume of rains (1.600 – 2.300 mm). ... However, Machu Picchu has part of the Amazon jungle, and the rains are present in all the seasons. (I'm singing, and dancing, in the rain, forest.) EXPERIENCE - then visit :- http://travelingcanucks.com/2010/10/peru-attractions-other-than-machu-picchu-incan-city/ -
Me neither - an old school mate got in touch and said he had our final year class photo, 1965. Unfortunately he couldn't get a decent image (he hasn't a scanner) and you can't make out anyone, it's so blurred . He has had a few attempts at taking a photo of the photo but all blurred .

Can't recall a Mario, it must have been after I moved away, 1969. In the sixties the old man, the owner, was Joe Moscadinii and his son was Bernard. Bernard dividing his time between the cafe and the snooker hall - Annie & Norman (from South Row I think) were in the snooker hall full time.

Baccis used to have a shop at bedlington Station, but well before my time. The cafe at the Station, that we (Bedlington Station people) grew up with in the 60s was Moscardiniis - never heard the name 'Mario's' used for Moscardiniis, or Baccis. Would Mario's just be the 'Top-End' lads name for Mosciis ?
