Names added to photo My mam (born 1920) had 5 brothers and 4 of them were miners and I think (but could be wrong) they all started off at the Doctor Pit. Martin Henderson - born 1921 - Deputy at Dr Pit and later in his life was the Market Place Club Chairman . John Luke Henderson - born 1925 - always knew him as Luke. Bob Henderson - born 1934 - was at Choppington Pit when he retired. George Henderson - born 1937 - last worked at Bates until it closed. -
I posted the photo on the Bygone Bedlington Facebook group and Ovalteeny has posted this comment and info :- Barrington United FC were a fairly successful local club after WW2 and were in the Northern Combination League for 2 seasons 1947/48 and 1948/49. They then played in the Northern Alliance for the next three seasons. From information extracted from The Morpeth Herald & Blyth News I compiled a list of the players, throughout those years, see image below. This list might just help people put a names to faces in the above photo. -

Photo from @Cympil album - Bedlington & Netherton Old Photos. It is thought to be the 1930's as the land behind the shops, Milne Park, is still waste land - Bedlington Mechanics using the land in the early 1950's. Extract from Cympil's photo identifying the pit rows. -

@Rigger - as you will have seen from the above comments we went for creating an album that all members could add images into and this is the first time I have done that. It would appear with this type of album you only get to see the first photo that was added into the album and all subsequent images that are posted are listed below the original image. You can't see the additional added images until you select/open the album and scroll down the album - but I'm just learning with this type of album. When you first select Gallery - Historic Bedlington - you get the option to 'Add Images' and if you select Add Images at that point you are given the choice a choice of creating a new album or adding to an existing album = uploading an image from your device/PC etc. You can however pass that stage and select the album you want to add an image to from the list and after selecting the album you get the Add Images option again when you select Add Images you get a screen where you can upload, by selecting the plus sign in the black circle, and then when you have uploaded your images select the option 'Submit all images' at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

@James - I have created an album - Doctor Pit and Rows - and started it off with the basic info from the Durham Mining Museum site + a couple of maps to show it's and what I believe was the first colliery row. I have done as @Andy Millne pointed out and selected the 'Anyone can submit to this album' option when I created it so you should be able to add photos into separate entries or group them into one entry if you wish.

As far as I can gather the first colliery houses for the miners was Old Colliery Row that was situated at the East End. Old Colliery row is on earlier maps than the following 1920 map but this is the first map that I can find that has the row named. -

Ernie would you match your list of names for the back row with the numbers I have added? I shared your photo with the much younger brother, James, of an ex BGS lad Joe Stewart. Joe lived in Pioneer Terrace, Bedlington and played football for East Northumberland. Joe would be about 9 years older than me but I remember he was one of the Managers at the Unemployment Office, top floor of the old Co-op building on Station Street. I'm mentioning all this as James says No 1 is his older brother Joe. Do you agree r is it Jim Stewart as you have him named? -
I'll have think about it and I will have to make sure that when I do I remember to create it with the option for all members to add new photos as separate entities. @Andy Millne - I'm sure is possible but can you confirm that when a member creates an album other members, as well as add comments and photos to exiting entries, all other members can be given the option to add additional photos as separate entries?
