Lazytown!
For anyone with young children, or with youngsters in their family/friends circle, you will have heard of Lazy Town. Miss Darn's 2 children love the show (and missdarn has a crush on robbie rotten and sportacus!) but for those that dont know, its a childrens program aimed at getting kids to eat "sports candy" (apples etc) and dance about with the help of sportacus, an atheletic hero that helps people in trouble and stephanie, a young girl new to lazytown that loves to dance. Also, among others is Robbie Rotten, who hates anything which involves effort, and loves sweets and cake. Anyways, i digress... earlier this week metro radio had a 'text in' competition to win a chance to meet sportacus at Gateshed's international stadium... no, i didn't win! I do however, feel sorry for those who did! i went down, with the children and missdarn, to see what the fuss was about, and to see if i could catch a glimps of the childrend 'hero in blue'. we got down there a bit late, and with the rain, thought it had been canceld, as loads of familys were walking away from the stadium, some of the children crying! we pulled in, went to the stadium and joined a small group of familys around the metro radio stage. We were just in time for the unveiling of a thousand balloons, by none other than Sportacus himself! eagerly we waited for a glimps of the hero, until a flash of blue, and on comes a man standing on his hands to a huge applause! unfortunatly, this applause died down quickly as our so-called hero stood back up. It Wasnt him. Children cried, parents walked off, but a few stood oblivious to the fact they had traveled to see their hero and were confronted by a man dressed up as him. Miss darns 2 were mortified. even went as far as to ask what had happened to him (they thought maybe robbie rotten had used a disguise!) Anyway, my point: how can a radio station like metro advertise meeting Sportacus from lazytown only to find out he's a fake? i know i wouldnt have entered if i'd known i was gonna meet an actor! what do you lot think?

So i have seen, however, still out of my price range at the moment. I've been relegated to a 8MP without attachable lenses till i can afford it! (thats if she can find it!)
-
Mr Darn
But thats the idea. i want the image to be as big as possible at its normal size, so it looks clear, rather than having to blow up a smaller file and seeing the pixels.
-
Mr Darn
Yes, but would that larger file not contain a purer picture? enabling it to be enlarged by a bigger factor before distorting?
-
Mr Darn
Would you like to poiunt me in the right direction? I was given the advice: a 4MP camera with a lens that gets the shot you want is much better than a 10MP camera picture you need to crop, which i understand. i was assuming the MP rate was basically the number of different individual pixels per square inch the camera can process into a file. Is this wrong?

i said that?

Mr Darn
your saying you can take a picture of a landscape with a 2megapixel camera, and blow it up to a fairly big size without it looking bad? I am going to be using it to take pictures that i am going to sell. These pictures need to be of a quality that can be printed, after being cropped, to fairly big sizes. i did look at those 100MP cameras but thats overkill, i believe 10-15MP is good enough. 10MP camera technology is at a stage now where you can get it reasonably cheap, however you can almost double the price for each 2 MP's over that, so 10MP it is! -unless it takes off and i make a fortune, thats when the 100MP one will come into play Its a shame, as i have had requests for photos i have taken so far, but when i get them enlarged they just look poor! No-where near good enough quality to take money for. And thats annoying!

What Type Of Humour Makes You Laugh?
Says mmongo! I found this funny once: me, my brother and his son were in the work van one day. my nephew next to the passenger window, me in the middle and my brother driving. my nephew was about 4 at the time. Anyway, we pulled up at a junction where visibility was poor due to the angle of the adjoining road. My brother could not see what was coming, so he asked his son "are their any cars coming?" "no dad" he replied. we started to pull out when he added: "But their is a big red bus, dad!" New underpants were required!

i quite agree, it is the person behind the camera that makes the scene, however its the camera that creates the image quality. a picture taken with a 2megapixel camera can look great at thumbnail size, but get it up to 2ft by 3ft and the image looks bad. Sure, a kettle will boil water for a cup of tea, but when you need 30 cups, you need the tools.

Actually, lately your content here has been second to none... Maybe we should talk.... (seriously tho, i like what you did with chat central...well, most of it!)

Not sure, i just had an idea of what i wanted it to do. i know i wanted to spend up to £600, i wanted it to be good pixelrate, as i intended blowing up the pics to portrait size, had to have a flash (attachable is fine) had to be digital, and have a decent sized memory card or 2. A stand was a must, and it had to have the option to take instant pics (not time delayed like most i have seen, i want the image captured as i press the button, not 3 seconds later!) Oh, detachable lenses and a place to attach a stand is a must. A plunger interface slot would also be handy (for those perfect stills!) but not really that important. Any ideas?

Mr Darn
NO! apparently it was too much money, so i got cash instead! What a dissapointment! had i known, i could have saved myself! Gonna buy a cheap and chatty one for now tho, just to get me going.

all of them, its wierd, cos when star trek - the next generation came out, i said NO, i'll never watch it, i'll stick to the origional. then i got hooked and voyager came out, and i said the same. but now, whenever i'm 'flicking' (No, i mean changing chanels! ) and i see any of the above on, it has to be watched! It drives Miss Darn MAD!

Cheers for the advice, unfortunatly you caught me on a 'bad' day, and the post seemed to read a little more serious than i ment it. As for the free site, i'm only hosting it there till i get it the way i want it, then it'll be transferred. Just need some content worth paying money to display...

What Type Of Humour Makes You Laugh?
sorry, but i'm a mat groening fan. Also a Treckie! Futurama, The simpsons, Star Trek Lost etc (yes, Star Trek and Lost make me laugh!) But what really makes me laugh is the home clips, ie Jeremy Beadle. Although some of them are obviously staged, alot of them have me in kinks for days!

Have you ever let the police handle something? a while back i had trouble with a girls ex-boyfriend. he would constantly be around the house, he scratched my car, and constantly issued threats, several of which the neighbours heard. i was told unless he actually carried out the threat, there was nothing they could leagally do other than log it. it was up to me to take him to court for an injunction, at my own cost. they did, however, go and have a 'word'. the next night i was driving with my girlfriend and the kids when he jumped out infront of the car. i stopped, reversed, and tried to turn round to get away. He ran over and kicked the wing mirror off my car. i phoned the police, statements were taken, but he got his sister to say i had tried to run HIM over. I was told if i took it further their was a good chance he'd win too! The police try, bless them, but their hands are tied in red tape. As for the 'only a forum' statement, what i mean is this place is a representation of bedlington, not an excuse to threaten people.

Thanks for the support, ***!

the note on the car was left by someone that looks at this forum, of that i have no doubt. The co-incedences are too great to be overlooked, but as i said, i aint worried. As for the content, it basically said if i kept the big head i had on the site, it would cost me my car. The cars insured, i dont worry about that, what i do worry about is the mention of my family. Its a forum for gods sake. Not like i'm a government minister that can change things! Really, i aint worried about the note, but if i do find out who it was, and any of the threats are carried out, they will be sorry. And i promise no police will be involved.

Mr Darns Second Rant
I am certainly not going to go off on one, but i will make this point: i come here to catch up on bedlington and the surrounding areas issues. However, as pointed out many times, i also like the off topic banter, and the creation of chat central in my eyes was a brilliant ploy! Now, today, i come online (as i always do, sometimes 4 or 5 times a day) to see whats changed. today i see a very good point made in TOTT, something i have heared about today at work: wansbeck is on its way out! I post my inquisitive reply for more info and move on. where i see more has appeared about the proposed power station at cambois: Great! more topical info for me to discuss tommorrow! Next i would have went into CC for the usual banter, where i could let my hair down and have a little fun. But, what do i find? Yet another Good topic about the town Way off topic. Not 1 new post about the power station at all! This is what gets to me about this site, you go to look at a topic you are interested in and all you find is a load of drivel about how unappy people are, or another sexual inuendo, or one member slagging another member off, or one of many other comments that has nothing at all to do with the topic. Most of these 'off topic' posts are also full of bad language. A while ago i was going to leave the forum alltogether, i was so sick of it, but i thought wait, maybe i can do something about this: so i took action, asked threegee if i could help out, split the bad stuff out and threw it in the chat area for further discussion. (whereas it would just get deleted before, so the issues never resolved) I cleaned up the posts of swearing, and took a great deal of my time making sure i checked every new post, editing out the bad, but leaving the main point behind for discussion. The thing is, everytime i did something, a wall appeared a little higher. certain members worked as hard as i did undoing my hard work, others changed their names to try to confuse me, and many others were just looking for the line i had drawn, testing the boundaries.(which i can cope with!) a few warnings later, all seemed to be going well, people were well on their way to getting their accounts cleared of warnings, and everyone seamed content. Then it got personal. Whoever it was that left the note on my car, Thankyou. It made me realise how much time i was wasting trying to create a safe environment on this forum. I really couldnt care less about idle threats on notepaper. in the line of work i used to do i was confronted with people on a daily basis that actually carried out their threats, not little children that cannot even look me in the eye. Now, back to my main point. Myself and a few others thought i was doing a really good job on the site, the real extent of actual town topics revealed themselves as hardly any posts remained in TOTT, and the chat area, relieved of the outlet for members to swear and abuse each other, started calming down, with a few nice games appearing to keep people coming back. But it seams that is not what you want. Members of this site seem to be quite content just letting any comment that anyone wants to post stay. Any swearing, howsoever graphic, should be left alone as it is the right of the poster to say what they like, and stuff anyone who visits the site. So what if their offended by whats put here? after all, who's heard of bedlington anyways? And why cant the board members make the moderators lives a misery? I forget who mentioned it before, but it was mentioned that they had not seen that much questionable material. I only wish i had cut and pasted most of it, and posted it somewhere else where you could see it. Perhaps you dont see most of it as the four people who can do anything about it are working so hard removing it every day. I guess i did go off on one after all, but it just annoys me that a site i have made my daily read has an area for topical info that just turns to crap at the turn of a hat, when a place for that has been created for you, and a moderator supplied free of charge to make sure it stays that way, but who has been forced to ask for his name to be removed because of all the static he gets for doing it. Am i a little too strict? maybe, but i think rules need to be made and those rules need to be stuck to. That way everyone knows where they stand. Yes, i did make mistakes. I have bad moods like everyone else. some of you got on the wrong side of those moods, and appologies were made and the action corrected. Do i take this too seriously? maybe, but this is my home towns website, and i dont want anyone thinking i come from a place full of idiots with no opinions other than how to swear and !*!@# people off. Its the likes of Pete, Joe, Tokyo and others that i feel sorry for. They use this as a means to keep in touch with their birthplace, and I am ashamed to be a part of it. Rant Over!
