  1. Moderators please note this is my third attempt at this post,so your website update is lacking something, it never happened before

.Is this the same Ian Lavery that was at the launch of Wetherspoons in Bedlington, along with other dignitaries from the town on a Freebie I'm a regular in there and never see them, wonder why?

  2. Now after reading that it all sounds so farcicle because it isn't to be expected. I hope that alot of that is true and that others take a leaf out his book instead of milking everything they can because they are given certain responsibilites.

Like Ian Slavery opening the baby unit at Wansbeck last week. Really?! Could they have not have got someone with some worth in the area?

  3. Keith........

OH BRITAIN, where did we go wrong ?

After all, the average pensioner has paid taxes and contributed to the growth of this country for the last 40 to 60 years.

    Sad isn't it?

Most people won't bother to forward this.

  5. The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured

by an enemy Indian War Party.

    The Indian Chief proclaims,

"So, YOU are the great Lone Ranger" .....

"In honor of the Harvest Festival,

YOU will be executed in three days."

"Before I kill you, I grant you three requests"

"What is your FIRST request ???'

    The Lone Ranger responds,

"I'd like to speak to my horse."

The Chief nods and Silver is brought

before the Lone Ranger who whispers in

Silver's ear, and the horse gallops away.

Later that evening, Silver returns with

a beautiful blonde woman on his back.

    As the Indian Chief watches,

the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's tent

    and spends the night.

The next morning the Indian Chief admits

    he's impressed.

"You have a very fine and loyal horse",

"But I will still kill you in two days."

"What is your SECOND request ???"

The Lone Ranger again asks to speak

    to his horse.

    Silver is brought to

    him,

and he again whispers in the horse's ear.

As before, Silver takes off and disappears

    over the horizon.

Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise,

Silver again returns, this time with a

    voluptuous brunette, more attractive

    than the blonde.

She enters the Lone Rangers tent

    and spends the night.

The following morning the Indian Chief

    is again impressed.

"You are indeed a man of many talents,"

"But I will still kill you tomorrow."

"What is your LAST request ???"

    The Lone Ranger responds,

"I'd like to speak to my horse, ....... alone."

The Chief is curious, but he agrees,

    and Silver is brought to

    the

    Lone Ranger's tent.

    Once they're alone,

the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears,

Looks him square in the eye and says,

    Listen Very Carefully !!!!

FOR.. THE... LAST... TIME.... I SAID .......

  6. Did anybody see Cameron taking the credit for the Olympic stadium being completed before schedule? I didn't realise he was such a good bricklayer, it certainly took the attention away from the phone twiddling activities of his corrupt circle of friends.

And now he's taking the credit for cutting the holiday short and stopping the riots .Apparantly the cops did nowt.

  7. I know its the same old topic but does anyone know where our new Tescos is going to happen as its gone very quiet lately.

Have you heard the wellworn phrase, I'll show my a*se in Fenwicks Window?

  8. Looking at the correspondence re the merits of Bedlington Station against Bedlington some of you need to have a closer look at the 'top end' at the closed down and decaying buildings destroying the landscape - the old school and the garage being a couple of them. Nice flower beds hardly compensate for the filth of litter and fage neds all over the place especially out side some of the pubs. Bedlington is a disgrace and sadly a sign of the times!

Well said tomtom, perhaps Diane Raymond opticians need to stay open late on a Friday night if the town appears to be tidy and well kept to some of the correspondants. The old school and garage you mention are now slipping down the League of Slums, and are soon to be overtaken by Johnsons shoe shop and the former spend "n" save shop that is a disgrace to the market place. I'm not sure who owns this particular slum but I suspect the owners are the same people who are mucking the town about with plans and broken promises about building a Supermarket.I'll bet the people who spent nearly 1 million pounds upgrading the Market Place wish they could have their money back to spend it on a town where the authorities are a bit more assertive. NCC should take control of the town and not let these outsiders move in buying up properties and letting them decay waiting for Building Booms that are not going to happen. I've also got every sympathy with the Station Folk, having lived there myself from 1968 to 1985, things were exactly the same then as is it is now council did nowt.

  9. I just read that FIFA told the Brazilians to build a venue to stage the World cup 2014 draw. This cost the Brazilian tax payers £18,000,000 for the 100 minute event. £180,000 per minute. £3,000 per second. Who can justify extravegance on that scale given the state of the world as it is at the moment.

    Keith,

It seems to me that different governments have different priorities when it comes to wasting taxpayers money. Unfortunately our lot like setting off Bangers that cost a lot more than a penny in countries where there is lots of oil.

  10. I was lucky enough to visit an open day at Ian Bell motorcycles today and was so impressed with the shop that I feel it deserves a mention on the Bedlington Website. It is good to see a local Business do well, but this one is a credit to the town. The whole set up is so professionly run and laid out,the management and staff should be commended. Apart from Isle of Man TT riders and winners being in attendance there was refreshments and free prize draws available with plenty good crack thrown in! Well done Ian and all the staff.

Stupid deal, what is the point of only having half the races, might as well not have any because if you are in to F1 you will have to pay for SKY for their exclusive races so you might as well watch them all on their.

I for one, won't be paying for Sky Sports or Sky for that matter to watch the F1 so my Saturdays and Sundays are going to be alot more productive.

Pity you had'nt let it run,the next track blows your mind after Wetherspoons!

  12. Foxy,

I am the first to complain about council complacency and inactivity but by the same token when we see examples of good practice I think we should applaud them. OK maybe it's just what they should be doing anyway but at a time when budgets are being decimated and moral must be low, seeing any standards improve in Bedders is to be welcomed.

I am working with several NCC officers at the moment and I have to say I find their attitudes refreshing and professional and I believe they are genuine in their attempts to help us finally address the inequalities we all feel Bedlington has suffered from for years.

    OK Malcolm,

I agree with your first comment, and yes we should applaud anyone who does anything that improves standards in the Town, whoever is responsible for the park should be given all the credit he/she deserves. I'm confused wih The second statement, , The front street of our town has developed into an area no better than an African Township. We've got two slums in the heart of the town and the owners of both have stuffed the council in more ways than one, how long does it take to get bus shelter windows replaced in Bedlington compared to other areas in the County. The Community Centre is now closed and there seems to be no rush to do anything about that, they could'nt manage the Golf Club, there's been irregularities with their pension scheme and the list of not done's is endless. I havn't seen the refreshing professional genuine attitudes yet but look forward to it for the sake of the Town.

    Well Malcolm,

I'm certainly impressed with this article, who gets the credit for this? Surely it cannot be anyone from the Council, Lets hope it will bring some visitors into the town and then maybe we can compete with the numbers that visit Rothbury Lighthouse every year.
