  2. Did not know that Uncle Arthur ever went to Bedlington Miners Picnic, Learn something new everyday.
  3. What needs to be remembered is the people who lost their lives thanks to Thatcher, my dad knew a few blokes who after the pits shut could not live with themselves because the pit was all they knew and they ended up killing themselves, I am sure many others will also know people who have done that from many other walks of life.
  4. All I have to say is she will not be missed in my household, as thanks to her and her cronies (Michael Heseltine and Ian Macgregor) my family lost their jobs and i could not get a job in the field I wanted to. Also well said: http://news.uk.msn.c...ath-a-great-day
  5. Well if anything does happen, the developer (no sure if it is Barry Elliot anymore) will be in very hot water with the owners of the buildings surrounding the site.
  6. Thank you Keith, as Malcolm said we are in for a fight.
  7. I'm not 100% sure but the one in the top middle looks like Alec Turner The lodge chairman of Bates Colliery in 1985.
  8. As some of you may have seen my name is also on the Parish/Town Election form, may as well tell everyone now as the cat is now out the bag.
  9. Those are the two problems councils and landlords they both only see £ signs not people and jobs.
  10. Are you not thinking about Kojak Keith?
  11. If I remember correctly the Coffin Chapel was doing a food bank and the BBC reported from there, don't know if they are still doing it or if i am wrong. Can someone confirm if i am right or wrong?
  12. The problem is the Rates council's charge if the council's cut the rates more business will come to the area but they only see the £ signs not the other benefits.
  13. We can hope Foxy, but it is up to the people, I would ask people to vote independent for parish and town council elections.

  18. All done voices of Cartoon Characters?
  19. Good Photo Keith makes it look like something out of the 1950's/60's, did you get one of it coming though Bedlington Station?
  20. It's ok starting a new topic when one already exists Keith as long as you don't go mad with power and create five new topics about the same thing. Also it was loud could hear it miles away I was over on the Bebside end of the Black Bridge on the road heading to the iron works site or for those who know beside the old engine works site and heard the train coming down the line from north of Bedlington Station.
  21. The station is in a bit of a state with some of the platform missing but station buildings are still there and in use by Network Rail staff as a bait room i think.
  22. The train did not go to Ashington due to the Signal Box being closed by Network Rail in 2009 and all signals being removed Malcolm, also there is nothing wrong with the position of the current station, it worked for years before hand and it would still work now, why fix something that is not broke?
  23. Yes it was a steam train Keith and it was a rail tour as i said to everyone in the thread i started called Bedlington Rail Tour here is a photo of it.
