  1. That's one 'hell ' of a picture of you Symptoms. It could work today. Fashion is only a subjective argument. We have been recently laughing at the old 'Kevin and Perry' moments. One grandchild having become a teenager, the fashions in the clips are great. One individual bet me she would never never wear flares. After laughing at my style of dress circa 1977 . I won ,
  2. Just to get it right they are 'Beef and Vegetable ' pasties. I did get around to making some the old fashioned way.
  3. Sorry Malcolm I tried to listen to the full link but kept getting distracted by paint drying.
  4. Surely this change in politics can open up new thoughts and ideas. No one thought the new Labour leader stood a chance of success. Perhaps we need to listen carefully to his ideas and thoughts. Not just go for the 'sound bite and scaremongering '.
  5. Aye the seasons they are a changing. Global warming and all. Perhaps:- Time and tide wait for no man or woman.
  6. Interesting action and reaction HPW. I can remember similar instructions about standing up to bullies. Trouble came when you picked up that stone that was thrown and returned it to sender. In my case I ended up in trouble. 'Strike spot on' Lesson learnt - no. I would still get myself into trouble .
  7. Needs must HPW. Just do what you can. We all want to read the book but you have already given us so very many insights into mining. Well done just Gan Canny.
  8. Lots could be achieved. I still have not seen any plans presented by the Council or County Council. I know the people of Bedlington are being consulted but this should not be an excuse for our elected representatives to do nowt. Basically they could show us what they think could be achieved on this individual and unique historical site. Recently in Birmingham we were impressed by a new Library.. Multi levels , roof gardens etc and the blue print could easily fit into our market place. It could even achieve sea views. Retail opportunities could include a hotel , leisure facilities , shops even library and a theatre. Come on Councillors and County Councillors apply for funding and impress us all by your commitment to Bedlington . No excuses no barbed comments about the residents show us you care passionately about our town and yours. A historic centre worth celebrating and working for today and tomorrow.
  9. Great picture Foxy
  10. School places are in demand and all to often class sizes are increasing. Support assistants are often awarded to support a child with special needs. With the rise of Academies the rules are made by the school and governors. Sweden is third on the list of the best places to live in retirement. We are only tenth.
  11. Oops nearly forgot. Surely John Tudor was Newcastle Malcolm. You are remembering the opposition . Delighted to say I found a Gregg's with what used to be called The Cornish Pasty. Why do people feel the need to tell lies. Maybe Birmingham is 'off' Gregg's of Gosforth's hit list for old fashioned pasties.
  12. Great adverts threegee. Happy memories of a son with a paper round.
  13. Happy Birthday Malcolm. Maybe it's fair to say 'on your bike'. Perhaps that is why you were not to be seen at the Lion.
  14. Great display in Birmingham.
  15. This is the time for our County Councillors to step up to the mark. If the blinds /shutters are not allowed then they will be working on our behalf. Maybe I am being naive but surely that is exactly why they represent our interests and our town. One small step in the right direction.
  16. I cannot remember the Santana brand. I think there was a shop near the Grainger Market late eighties. Then maybe even in the Metro Centre. In the eighties we also used to stop off at a place in Fulham (in an old cinema ) for Levi's. Dickie Dirts.
  17. Another find in the attic The pictures are the right way up until I click attach this file. Makes things interesting.
  18. Now here I am going to have to agree with your wife HPW. Come on , get that book or three , finished so we can buy it/ them.
  19. Brilliant answer threegee. I love the Einstein quote. Maybe there is no answer to the Bedlington Question. Time will tell. I hope that 'Ragged Trousered Philanthropist is not relevant again. Oh and 'Does power corrupt'.'
  20. Amazing what you think about when clearing the attic. I think a Newcastle footballer advertised them long before Gary Linaker and Walkers crisps. I wonder what this generation will invent or make popular. One questions 'Are Gregg's still selling their version of Cornish Pasties' This week in Birmingham they claimed they had stopped production. I guess I should have put this in a different section but 'Tudor' crisps , I could argue, are history. Hopefully not so for Gregg's Pasties.
  21. I wonder if anyone remembers this brand of Jeans.
  22. All very good but in simple terms if you are negative about a negative surely you have a positive. Basically you are critical of the negative. Interesting argument.
  23. The main point is what have we got to loose. Negative opinions could get us action. Therefore a positive. Bedlington past present and future. The future has to be better. The past can be an inspiration. Then the present forgotten with all negativity Do not think we can get a bigger negative than the state of our town Malcolm. Bedlington needs action. Ok mercuryg its two minus' make a poitive but whatever it takes we need everyone in their own sweet way working for the town. Even the people who tell us not to be negative, all need to help. October let us hope changes everything for the better.
  24. That's the one Eggy. People want change so much they believe it will happen. Unfortunately Nowt happens. The moral is hope but not too much.
  25. That's the one I was shown a picture of what it should look like when finished. Supposedly the plans have been agreed. NCC should give details if it is correct. Looks like lots of flats but maybe not. Who knows what we will get in Bedlington! Plans can be agreed but development does not necessarily go ahead . We need someone in Bedlington to coordinate the exact details. No confusion and no speculation . Who do you believe about what is planned! Maybe we have to trust our leaders. That has not got us too far .
