No luck but a lot on the news here about the flypast. Max Hastings has a new book out. The Secret War I think. He was on breakfast TV yesterday and some of the stories of double dealing seem very interesting. The secrecy act means lots about what happened in the War is only now coming to light.

I wonder what safeguards are in place about the wall next to the school. This goes onto the main road and path next to Church Lane A barrier is still in place. The crack is significant and alarming . It goes the full height of the wall. If the wall falls it could cause death and injury. Public liability insurance is all very well but stopping any accident occurring should be a priority. It seems the development, that never was, on this site was being 'flagged up recently' as a victory for council planning.

Surely this change in politics can open up new thoughts and ideas. No one thought the new Labour leader stood a chance of success. Perhaps we need to listen carefully to his ideas and thoughts. Not just go for the 'sound bite and scaremongering '.

Interesting action and reaction HPW. I can remember similar instructions about standing up to bullies. Trouble came when you picked up that stone that was thrown and returned it to sender. In my case I ended up in trouble. 'Strike spot on' Lesson learnt - no. I would still get myself into trouble .

Lots could be achieved. I still have not seen any plans presented by the Council or County Council. I know the people of Bedlington are being consulted but this should not be an excuse for our elected representatives to do nowt. Basically they could show us what they think could be achieved on this individual and unique historical site. Recently in Birmingham we were impressed by a new Library.. Multi levels , roof gardens etc and the blue print could easily fit into our market place. It could even achieve sea views. Retail opportunities could include a hotel , leisure facilities , shops even library and a theatre. Come on Councillors and County Councillors apply for funding and impress us all by your commitment to Bedlington . No excuses no barbed comments about the residents show us you care passionately about our town and yours. A historic centre worth celebrating and working for today and tomorrow.

School places are in demand and all to often class sizes are increasing. Support assistants are often awarded to support a child with special needs. With the rise of Academies the rules are made by the school and governors. Sweden is third on the list of the best places to live in retirement. We are only tenth.

Oops nearly forgot. Surely John Tudor was Newcastle Malcolm. You are remembering the opposition . Delighted to say I found a Gregg's with what used to be called The Cornish Pasty. Why do people feel the need to tell lies. Maybe Birmingham is 'off' Gregg's of Gosforth's hit list for old fashioned pasties.

This is the time for our County Councillors to step up to the mark. If the blinds /shutters are not allowed then they will be working on our behalf. Maybe I am being naive but surely that is exactly why they represent our interests and our town. One small step in the right direction.
