  1. School places are in demand and all to often class sizes are increasing. Support assistants are often awarded to support a child with special needs. With the rise of Academies the rules are made by the school and governors. Sweden is third on the list of the best places to live in retirement. We are only tenth.
  2. Oops nearly forgot. Surely John Tudor was Newcastle Malcolm. You are remembering the opposition . Delighted to say I found a Gregg's with what used to be called The Cornish Pasty. Why do people feel the need to tell lies. Maybe Birmingham is 'off' Gregg's of Gosforth's hit list for old fashioned pasties.
  3. Great adverts threegee. Happy memories of a son with a paper round.
  4. Happy Birthday Malcolm. Maybe it's fair to say 'on your bike'. Perhaps that is why you were not to be seen at the Lion.
  5. This is the time for our County Councillors to step up to the mark. If the blinds /shutters are not allowed then they will be working on our behalf. Maybe I am being naive but surely that is exactly why they represent our interests and our town. One small step in the right direction.
  6. I cannot remember the Santana brand. I think there was a shop near the Grainger Market late eighties. Then maybe even in the Metro Centre. In the eighties we also used to stop off at a place in Fulham (in an old cinema ) for Levi's. Dickie Dirts.
  7. Another find in the attic The pictures are the right way up until I click attach this file. Makes things interesting.
  8. Now here I am going to have to agree with your wife HPW. Come on , get that book or three , finished so we can buy it/ them.
  9. Brilliant answer threegee. I love the Einstein quote. Maybe there is no answer to the Bedlington Question. Time will tell. I hope that 'Ragged Trousered Philanthropist is not relevant again. Oh and 'Does power corrupt'.'
  10. Amazing what you think about when clearing the attic. I think a Newcastle footballer advertised them long before Gary Linaker and Walkers crisps. I wonder what this generation will invent or make popular. One questions 'Are Gregg's still selling their version of Cornish Pasties' This week in Birmingham they claimed they had stopped production. I guess I should have put this in a different section but 'Tudor' crisps , I could argue, are history. Hopefully not so for Gregg's Pasties.
  11. I wonder if anyone remembers this brand of Jeans.
  12. All very good but in simple terms if you are negative about a negative surely you have a positive. Basically you are critical of the negative. Interesting argument.
  13. The main point is what have we got to loose. Negative opinions could get us action. Therefore a positive. Bedlington past present and future. The future has to be better. The past can be an inspiration. Then the present forgotten with all negativity Do not think we can get a bigger negative than the state of our town Malcolm. Bedlington needs action. Ok mercuryg its two minus' make a poitive but whatever it takes we need everyone in their own sweet way working for the town. Even the people who tell us not to be negative, all need to help. October let us hope changes everything for the better.
  14. That's the one Eggy. People want change so much they believe it will happen. Unfortunately Nowt happens. The moral is hope but not too much.
  15. That's the one I was shown a picture of what it should look like when finished. Supposedly the plans have been agreed. NCC should give details if it is correct. Looks like lots of flats but maybe not. Who knows what we will get in Bedlington! Plans can be agreed but development does not necessarily go ahead . We need someone in Bedlington to coordinate the exact details. No confusion and no speculation . Who do you believe about what is planned! Maybe we have to trust our leaders. That has not got us too far .
  16. On the plans it says Old School! Whose counting birthdays? Just 'rage against the dying of the light'
  17. Whitley Memorial and plans for flats. I have no idea where they will all park but the computer generated picture makes it look good. More housing for Bedlington but will it be affordable!
  18. On the new plans where are people going to park? I have not seen the full plans.
  19. In the style of Bedlington for nailers Hartley Pans for sailors. We could have Bedlington for houses Any town for more! Can anyone think of a better rhyme. We have several noteworthy individuals on site.
  20. I had forgotten about that expression Paul. Maybe I have been a 'clot'. Never could stand 'tripe'. A delicacy in Lancashire I am led to believe.
  21. We may need to remember that two negatives make a positive.
  22. My fear is that people are being bullied into keeping quiet. Do as I say not as I do. While complaining about misinformation and negativity the real issues are forgotten . Basically a smokescreen to hide behind. The letter is alarming while seeming to be positive .No money tree at the bottom of the High Street seems to suggest there will not be much delivered by our leaders at the NCC. October when we are to receive 'Good News' may be too late. Bedlington for houses and extra council tax. A high street of houses when the Council Offices are knocked down. I wonder how many houses they could deliver for us on the Tesco site. Shopping out of town next to Morrisons with no transport for the elderly. No pull off for the buses so none can stop. Library converted to retail unit Pharmacy! Surely they will listen to reason and not bully everyone. We all learn from history but that history can and is often negative and horrible . Horrible History in Bedlington a lesson to learn. Leaders can become delusional and need our help!
