  1. There is The History Press HPW but I am not too sure how safe any of these are for your personal and valuable memories of mining. Your ability to relate the details of life underground are unique in their insight and detail. First hand accounts are always the best.
  2. No tomtom stay and make a noise. Nothing to loose.
  3. Aye HPW That will be all they need to work the computer. Mind I use the one finger approach. I should have stuck at those typing lessons. When they started to play music 'tea for two cha cha' they lost me completely.
  4. Heritage initiative threegee. Gan Canny The Shoreham news was terrible.
  5. There is also news about Blyth Foxy. Huge investment at Poundstretchers I think that may be the old Coop building. That's in Ronnie Campbell's Window on Westminster column page 14 NPL last week. The figures of investment and pay back in rent are interesting to calculate. Some people claim there is a wealth of mis information without explaining where error lies. This article claims the progress is labour lead and Arch will invest £1.476m Then The Heritage Initiative is mentioned , surely that means funding from that group. Not exactly clear. My fear for Bedlington is that the powers that be leave a note saying 'No Money Left' Then our kids and grandchildren end up paying forever.
  6. Could this be seen as moaning or being negative.
  7. It really needs action before it is too late. If the wall falls it could make the national news and highlight the problems in Bedlington. I hope no one dies if / when the wall and school fall into the main road.
  8. Snap Foxy I have posted on the wrong thread. A little late but shocked the paper did not cover the event.
  9. I cannot find any coverage of the Bedlington Fair in the News Post Leader this week. Last week the 20th August there was ,on page 40, a small article along side the advert for the fair. Surely someone from the paper came along after all there were so many people that attended. No photo opportunity for leading politicians who enjoy the limelight .
  10. Ronnie Campbell is supporting Jeremy Corbyn. Letters page News Post Leader. He says 'the Tory media is slagging him off ' ' If you want straight- talking, honest politics, then Jeremy Corbyn is the person to go with.' Enough said !
  11. This maybe seen as moaning tomtom. My opinion is we need to moan because otherwise no one may notice how bad things have become in the heart of our much loved town. Moan, make a noise, what's the worst that can happen 'Nowt' That is what we have now 'Nowt to lose'
  12. Do we accept you have excess income threegee . Question is beauty shop or tattoo?
  13. We have a new highly paid chief executive who is paid more than the prime minister. He comes from an internal NCC financial background. I hope he can be impartial and draw all parties together Arch and NCC seem to be spending like there is no tomorrow. I hope this is not on a live now pay later basis and going to leave the generations to come with huge dept. It has been suggested that Bedlington may have to accept compromise . Hopefully this is not ,because all money has been spent. Whatever the case we can expect people to form their own opinions on the Why's and Wherefore's We all have interests and family that are outside The Shire boundaries. There are lots of people watching, listening and reading. Please let us hope Bedlington becomes a centre for everyone. Action may ,in some eyes , be unnecessary and seem to have not helped our community. There may be no money tree at the bottom of the high street ! The noisiest voices may not include the whole of Bedlington but as the Beatles sang We have to believe it's getting better or it couldn't get much worse. Coun Alyson Wallace says in this weeks News Post Leader 'It's a new beginning' 'let's start the consultation as we mean to go on in October - with open minds, new ideas and a realisation that we all want the best for our town' This letter is worth reading .
  14. Politics is by its very nature adversarial ! The Bedlington Question is sadly being played out to great effect ( if you like strategy games ) My wish would be for all parties to work ( and play) together in the interests of Bedlington Sadly we have claims of negativity by certain individuals while they are negative about all the other parties. We have claims of people/individuals moaning while they moan about the people who are moaning. Basically Negativity may be necessary in order to then be positive. Like history we need to learn from the past so we do not repeat the mistakes.
  15. The West Bedlngton Town Council Newsletter is interesting. It informs us that this site has not passed the contaminated land conditions A case officer with NCC planning department claims that for the building work to commence several conditions had to be met. In 2007 planning permission was granted on condition a contaminated land survey was submitted and appropriate remediation measures agreed and implemented before any development started. They state to date this important condition has not been discharged by the developer. If this is not dangerous to future occupants then the wall of the Whitley Memorial may finish the job. A crack has appeared onto the Main Street and the wall could fall. Check out the camera. Barricades have appeared but may not check or hold the movement.
  16. The News Post Leader for the 20 th August carries a front page photo of Grant Davey , Alyson Wallace and Val Tyler in front of the day centre. The basis of the headline is 'Jobs Boost for county as store lines up new sites. It seems 'Up to 50 posts will be created at two shops with proposals for more to come'. The problem is the plans are yet to be submitted. They are said to be submitted in the coming weeks.
  17. Good Luck Paul. Hope the web site draws lots of local people to read about your writing career.
  18. Not heard anything Bedlingtonian. So many of these new builds are Private Finance Initiatives. Local and national tax payers finance the schemes on buy now pay later.
  19. You could be right Symptoms. There seems to be a 'self destruct ' button.
  20. Fixing this swimming pool would be 'small change' to Arch. I like the idea of a new leisure centre instead of houses on the site next to Hazlemere. Then these people could be employed in the new centre. In the mean time 'Arch please please fix the pool'
  21. Thing is do I let the Grandkids play with it and others maybe priceless toys. Decisions decisions! Life can be difficult.
  22. I prefer the meaning of life . Maybe along the lines of The meaning of life lies with each other grandparents parents sisters and brothers. Obviously friends add to that mix particularly if you are an only one. Sorry to lower/raise the tone but there have been three deaths to cope with this week.
