Eggy Hinny, ya want ta read what ya postin before ya hit the reply button, all ya doing is repeatin ya sell and talkin fluent wally.

Ya to easy ta wind up man

    Wound up I am not:wave:

Repeating myself =  I extracted one phrase I had used and the rest were yours and one from Webtrekker.

I simply read all of your points, couldn't understand them, and rather than make wild assumptions asked for an explanation from the source ☺️. But rather than explain yourself  you trying and make out that it is me that talks 'fluent wally' and your objective is not to say anything constructive but just an attempt to wind people up:D.

I remain unwound and wait :ball: for you to explain the points I put to you but if that is too much to ask then end of discussion

My view on whinging on social media sites and then not adding anything constructive to try and rectify the cause for whinging is – why bother.

How does whinging on Facebook  or this site resolve anything?

Wee are these folk enjoying these so called features Eggy,  it must be ye and ya marrows cos everyone a naa said they are a waste of dosh, they look like sumic the bairns have cut out at school  and should be clagged on the classroom walls, an all tell ya sumic else if ya asked anyone what tha were supposed ta be they would not have a clue.

If ya like em Eggy hinny teck them owa ta Seghill and clag them up owa there an see what the lads in the comrades think aboot them a can tell ya exacly where they will say ta stick them 😲

Trying to understand your sentence – do you mean that if you, and your marras don’t like something then none of mine should?

Do you mean that if someone comes up with an idea that doesn’t match your ideas then that person is wrong for trying to do something?

Do you believe that everyone in Bedlington hasn’t a clue what the gateway features represent?

These two comments, from Bedlingtonnresidents that I do not know :-

Liz Peart I have seen them all they are lovely the coat of arms needs a change of colour x I would have missed it had I not been looking for it x

Simon Williams - The gift that keeps giving 🙂

If ya like em Eggy hinny teck them owa ta Seghill and clag them up owa there an see what the lads in the comrades think aboot them a can tell ya exacly where they will say ta stick them 😲

What have those four features got to do with Seghill?

Your anotha one who doest not live in Bedlington tellin wa wots good for us and wot wa should be doing

Ya want ta try sorting Segghole oot before ya start on Bedlington

When have I told anyone what’s good for them and what they should be doing? Checked back and the only comment you might have thought I was telling people what to do might be :- ……………………..Anyone that didn't  then surely they should just take a different route to get to where you would like to stop…… and that was in reply to Webtrekker’s comment :-  Yes, Bedlington's a lovely place......... to pass through! 🚗 <<<<<<<<<<<<--------------. So I was not telling anyone what to do just offering a suggestion. Is that against the your rules?

Ya want ta try sorting Segghole oot before ya start on Bedlington

When have you seen anything from me whinging about Seghill or trying to sort out Bedlington?

Rumour has it wa gana get a giant model of King Kong on top of the old council offices   ta put the wind up all them gannin ta sign on 🤯

So there are people enjoying the Gateway features.

What idea have you come up with @moe19 that will please all of the people all of the time?

Yes, Bedlington's a lovely place......... to pass through! 🚗 <<<<<<<<<<<<--------------

I find that most born and bred Bedlington folk, that now live elsewhere (because of work, marriage etc.), like to stop and say hello to Bedlington people and socialise with them. I would expect that anyone interested in Bedlington, for whatever reason,  who spend time and money there . Anyone that didn't  then surely they should just take a different route to get to where you would like to stop :D

What year was the pic?....[1936 was the year the trophy was presented to the club],cos aam sure that the fella on the right wi he's hand on he's hip was my deceased Brother-in-Law or if it wasn't,then he is the spitting image of him.

1953 - July. Peter Arris - Chairman of the BTNE club - has posted the full picture for me  along with this info :-

Here is a picture of William Luker (extreme right). Notice old Ned Metcalf kneeling, he never did dress up for the occasion, I think he went to bed wearing that old 1890’s style bonnet.
None of this, is in my particular period of enquiry, so
I have never looked at it before with any great interest.
However, the name Luker intrigued me, certainly not one that we often encounter in Northumberland.
So, with a little bit of digging, I discovered that his father was a stone mason and surprise, surprise married into the Thomson family of Bedlington terrier fame.
His wife was called Lily Victoria Luker. Died 1957.
He joined the National Bedlington Terrier Club committee about 1953, (no sign of his cup there unfortunately) though it was won by Miss Heron another NBT member in a non-connected show in Morpeth in 1953 and not heard of again, possibly she kept it. They were supposed to be returned to the show secretary each year.
It would appear that during that time. The National Bedlington Terrier Club was again in a state of turmoil and instability. With the old and the new members each having serious differences of opinion on how it should be run, or if it should even remain faithful to its roots in Bedlington, as new Bedlington Terrier clubs started to appear in the southern regions of the U.K.
It would appear that the working class, cloth cap image was not to the liking of the newer members.
It did not take them long, to forget the history of our beloved Terriers.

    1953 Old Photo with info.jpg

  7. @Keith Scantlebury & @HIGH PIT WILMA - Whilst searching for info on the Bedlington Terrier breed Google threw up a link to a Google Blog. I had to join the blog to ask to use the photo, and then the owner, Mark, closed his blog down. The info he commented with the photo was :- The show I presume is a National Bedlington terrier Club show? As the statue at the front is "The most sought after trophy is the Bedlington Coal Co. Ltd Challenge Cup, often referred to as the Bedlington Statuette. This beautiful solid silver model of a Bedlington is now presented for Best in Show at the Championship Show in August. Presented to the club in 1936, the first winner was CH Welldon Adorable owned by Miss M Pattison." info from NBTC website.
Alan Smith, another Blog member, said :- Ned Metcalfe is the person in the dark suit and cap, front row right, next to dog who is squatting in an odd manner!

  8. Whilst discussing an Album in the Gallery with a new member, @Alison Waters she commented :- just a message for the administrator of this page - I can only get on if I turn off my firewall for 15 mins. Not sure what causes that but just thought I'd mention it as it may be putting off other users.

I don't know all the 'ins-and-outs' of Alison's system just a few bits and wondered if the following info would spark a solution, for Alison, from @Andy Millne or @threegee.

I asked Alison what security software she was running and she replied :- Google chrome plus Malwarebytes and McAfee.

I know that's not a lot of info but there just might be something recorded within the bedlington.co.uk logs recording the problem that Alison is having that Admin can use to identify the cause of her problem :iiam:

1956 Westridge class photo.  No 7 is Alan Johnstone he lived at East Riggs Bedlington.

I see I had forgotten to add that one to Westridge School - End of term class photos album in the Gallery:o.

I have updated No 7, from Johnson to Johnstone, and I will post it in the Gallery album.

Will it be 1957 @Rigger - 1956 seems too early for Westridge?

  10. Photo from Jeff Slaughter Snr. posted on Facebook group Bedlington remembered.

None of names printed on the image could be made out. Two members of the Facebook group commented :-

Heather Curtis The lady 2nd from left is my late grandma Harriet Lee (1st Lady councillor of Bedlington In this photo, who then became 1st lady Chairwoman of Bedlington in 1956)

Alan Brady My grandad Adam Mair third from the left front row. Wilf Halliday, I think, fifth from the left front row.

@Malcolm Robinson & @Russ Wallace - do they have a rogues galley in the council offices where this group could be identified?

    Labour Council 1946 named.jpg

  11. @Marie Cousens - although we don't have any photos from your husbands family era there are some interesting old photos in albums within the Gallery under Historic Bedlington What you will find is hat 90% of the photos are whats known locally as 'The Top End'. There is very little on the Bedlington Station area. The Bedlington Station area was know as Sleekburn and the name Bedlington Station appears to have been adopted when the Bedlington railway station opened, in Sleekburn, in 1850.

Have a browse of the Gallery and ask away in this topic or the Gallery albums.

Be prepared for some 'pitmatic' answers to any questions you may ask.   :)

Sill nothing here! is it only me?

And me @Vic Patterson - I was blaming my old Windows Vista + Google Chrome PC that I use 98% of the time = big screen - big keyboard - easy for me to use.

Yesterday I tried my Laptop - Windows 10 - Microsoft Edge and I get the same result = a small 'icon' and nothing else (I just added the arrow to point out the icon:))

  14. On April 13th 2014 @Malcolm Robinson posted a topic - Last Miners Picnic 1989 :-

In the Official Programme is a list, starting at 1866 through to 1989, of where the picnic was held.

A photo of the 1937 picnic was posted on the Facebook sixtownships group and the comments eventually got around to -  when was the first picnic?

Was it 1866 at Polly's Folly,  as stated in the 1989 programme?

Extract from the Evening Chronicle story :-

The event at Woodhorn Museum will mark The 150th anniversary of the historic Picnic.

Thousands of people from across the region and beyond are expected to flock to the UK’s former mining capital, Ashington, for a day of music and celebration.

The first Picnic was staged at Blyth Links way back in 1864. It quickly became a traditional yearly political rally and family day out.

Owen Hunter  Commented :- The first picnic was reported by the Morpeth Herald in September 1864. Here's the newspaper cutting: 10th September 1864.
