  1. Got no idea Cympil. I thought the really old members like 3G would know the answer to this  :jump:
  2. SNRG. What's going on here? Where has this Toast errr Koast sprung up from? Didn't even know you had any competition! And if this Toast has just sprung up, where has all the money come from in such a short time? As I know that you have been working hard on this project for quite a while now. Something just doesn't sit right here. Try your hardest to get up an running before them, don't give up and good luck.
  3. Hillbilly, This could also be something to do with our good friend (who resides on the Isle of Man) taking on the constrictive planning rules in Bedlington and winning! Once he got permission to build his flats on the old school site, well, this opened the flood gates to do just about anything you want on the Front Street. I look forward, with trepidation, to the high rise flats or whatever on the Elliots garage site.I also look forward to the court house being converted to an asylum seekers refuge I know! I know! One last one, how about Asda selling netto's to McDonalds or KFC now there's a thing!
  4. Malcolm, I was aware of the proposal of yellow lines, but what is the point! Nobody polices the one way system so who is going to bother policing the yellow lines? Residents only park on one side of the entrance, not causing any problems, the only thing concerning the cooncil was the access for the school buses. I proposed yellow lines on the right hand side as you go in, to stop parents double parking, also signs to the back streets for resident parking only. But as you say the yellow lines will appear regardless, just another ill conceived idea by somebody trying to justify their job! Mr Darn countless letters by residents have been sent to the schools concerned, they do not honour any of them with a reply. The main culprits abusing the one way system are the teachers, even a personal visit by yours truly resulted in achieving absolutely nothing they were just not bothered! An accident waiting to happen!
  5. Although I agree that the traffic in and out of Meadowdale is atrocious, it is nothing compared to further along the street at the entrance to 'Bennies'! The inconsiderate parking of parents and some TEACHERS, not only from Bennies but St Bedes and West End schools make Ridge Terrace a no go area for residents. These parents and teachers think nothing of blocking access to both back streets in Ridge Terrace, you can't get in or out, they also double park in the entrance to St Bedes and Bennies. These people also exit the school from this entrance, which I may point out is a 'NO EXIT' and a one way system! As it is sign posted properly these people are breaking the law at least once a day every school day! Is anything done? NO! Are the police handing tickets out left, right and centre? NO! You can bet your bottom dollar that if I went the wrong way up a one way street I'd be crawling with coppers!
  6. Mobius whatever replaces Bedlington Community High School would be a good thing: a driving school maybe or even a dole office Or it could even be a secret spy school to train dole snoops, though most of the dole snoops will be on the 'other' side once the ConDem policies kick in HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What GOES around COMES around an' I'll love it absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!
  7.
  8. according to the Chronicle two people went missing while rafting at 10-15pm. They were found on the bankside down from Hartford bridge about an hour later, and transfered to hospital with minor injuries. Hope this helps.
  9. The statutory notices posted in the market place tell us that Tesco's building is to be demolished, even though it is supposed to be a conservation area! Is this a knock on effect to the flats to be built on the old school site opposite, I mean he threw money at that project and won, so is it the same case for Tesco and their big wig lawyers? Is this the start of the end of Bedlington Front Street as we know it? Will this be a good or bad thing? I personally am in two minds, development of the front street would bring jobs and tidy the place up, but, I would be sad if we lost the old buildings and the character of the place even if it does look a mess, and I include the new market place in my description of mess!!!!!!! It will also be interesting to see if the 'mess' is made more of a mess when they demolish Tesco's
  10. Hi everyone, I've recently been doing some voluntary work at Woodhorn Colliery Museum, as an ex miner I thought it would be good to get involved and help out. Well as thing's went invariably the talk came round to mining and my experiences underground, about the use of canaries, ponies and what the pit lamp (Glennie) was used for down the mine. Some of my experiences were funny some were sad and some downright bluddy dangerous! I don't care what anybody else says working down the pit was damn hard work and damn dangerous! The point is they were impressed with my knowledge and experiences down t' pit, they have asked me to do some audio tapes for educational purposes. Tapes about, like what canaries were actually used for, they knew about their use for detecting gas but not actually how it worked! Being a mining community they want to preserve stories and experiences so that they are not taken to the grave and lost forever. They want to remind younger generations of what it was actually like in the mines. So people are you an ex miner were your parents or grandparents involved in the mines? More importantly do you remember any of the stories they used to tell you, or do you have your own to tell about anything and everything about the mines and their community. Funny or sad. Factual and slightly enhanced versions. Thanks people.
