  5. I am not sure when the Doctor pit closed Esme as I left Bedlington in 1966 and it was still working then, so was the Old pit. The boomer was near its end then. I remember a lot of people I knew applied for transfers to the Nottingham coalfield, they were mainly electricians and fitters.

  21. It does bring back memories Esme, the days of the dodgem cars and waltzer, it was a rough old field in them days and the Doctor pit was still working. The coconuts never seemed to fall off when you hit them, it was as if they were glued on. If you won on the bingo you got a cheap chalk ornament. Good days.
