@AvrilG there used to be a Red Row on the Stakeford road just as you left Bedlington station to go to Stakeford. That red Row nolonger exists but there was a small estate build there, and part of it has a street called Red Row.
The old Red Row houses were demolished in the 1970's I think. We had a schol mate, in the late 1950's, who used to live in the old Red Row but I ca't remember what postal district etc it came under - Barrington- Sleekburn etc.
Have you any other info on this family member?
This old map shows the old Red Row but there is no church on the map for red Row.

@Richard Norton a couple of different photos to what @Canny lass has posted for you plus an entry in the 1905 Bennett's Business Directory that was posted on the Facebook local group 'Past Time History Group' by @johndawsonjune1955 showing the the same name and profession that CannyLass found in the Kelly's Directory 0f 1914.
In a book on Bedlington 'Then and Now' published by Evan Martin in 2005 there is an image showing the shop @Canny lass identified above on the back page but iunfortunately can't make out the name of the shop :-
Inside Evan's book is the Then photo with some info but 'Hub' doesn't get a mention
just that it's an early 20thc photo :-
The latest Google street view image is 2023 and it looks like the original building, with the roof restructured was still there :-
There is another photo of the area and it was originally posted with the comment 'early 20th centuary' but again the name on the shop can't be read :-
This photo shows the shop more clearly but it's a 1930's or 40's photo and the name on the shop is STOKER :-

Welcome to the group @Richard Norton. Just noticed your posting - don't know how I missed.
Can't say I've seen the name Hub Butchers mentioned in the Market Place and I did a search of the Discussion pages using "Hub Butchers" but nothing came up. If you enter a phrase into the Search section add quotes around it otherwise the system searches for every seperate word in the phrase rather than just the whole phrase
.
I'll have a look through the old photos from that era, probably only a couple, and see if I can find anything but can't recall seeing that name.

I lived in the neuk from 62-69, born in 62, an upper flat above the yard you mentioned . Was Johnson’s yard , we moved next door after that, had outdoor toilets .
Welcome to the group @Jayson Lowery. The other two places that normally get a mention on this group and the Bygone Bedlington group (Facebook group) are Muggers Neuk or Salmon place but they were before your time amd may never have been mentioned by your family.

I've not been allowed to look at a screen since Friday. However, I did get a pair of temporary specs. They are far from the most elegant pair of specs I've ever had but at least I can read now and I'm actually writing this myself so not reliant on family and friends anymore!

Good Christmas and a merry new year to all. I have abstained from the group for some time to accommodate the glacial progress of work on Bedlington. Now that things are moving at such pace I thought I would drop in and say Hi!
Cheers @_pauls - good to hear from someone living in (or close to) Bedlington. Most comments lately have been from ex Bedlingtonian's, like myself, who haven't visited the town (apart from the latest Google Street View
) we grew up in for years.

Is that Wilf i can see loitering by the traffic lights? Hopefully it is, cos that means it's officially Christmas! Whoopee!!! A very merry Christmas to everybody. I hope to be a bit more active next year as two eye operations have meant I've had to rely on someone else to read and write for me for a couple of months. Reading has been a little bit easier but only if I lift the laptop to within an inch of my face. However, I'm on the mend now but can't get new specs until the beginning of February when everything is healed. Have a great Christmas and knock hell out of what's left of the year!
That is Wilf - your eyes are better than my OH's

The awrd initiated by @Bedlingtonian in 2020.
Last year, 2023, the members voted for https://www.facebook.com/Thefriendsofwestleacemetery
The first three years we had a poll, created by @Andy Millne, and last years was a suggestion that the members agreed with with so no poll.
As it has been another quiet year, even for the regulars @Canny lass - @threegee - @Vic Patterson & me, I would suggest the same method as last year but naturally if anyone wants a pool then please ask Andy to set it up.
Even Piper has had a quiet year and hasn't even had his coat trimmed for the trophy and is lying down on the job
My vote this year would be for Malcolm Robinson. Regardless of his politics he has fought tirlessly for Bedlington and kept us and Facebook members aware of what is going on, or not going to happen, in Bedlington.

Cambels church yard
in History Hollow
Posted · Edited by Alan Edgar (Eggy1948)
@Canny lass & @AvrilG I have been checking out how many churches there was in Cambois and there were two - St Andrews and the Methodist (seaside) Chapel.
St Andrews still exists and your first image is St Andrews. I went around the building via Google street view and there is no grave stones etc to be seen.
The Methodist chapel, according to the members on the Camboios Facebook group burn't down at the start of the 1970's and there does not appear to be a graveyard in existance.
The second photo above i recognised as it is the old Methodist Church in West Sleekburn that is now a private 'house'.
It used to be St Peters
The following images show Red Row, Cambois Methodist Church and a 1921 map showing Red Row and Cambois.
