  1. Right mercuryg head the other way to Sheepwash Then walk along the river to Stakeford. Next catch the bus to the Lion. Under the bridge is a great sculptured mural.
  2. They could be on the road to hell. Addiction!
  3. Plessey woods Dr Pit Park we are the lucky ones. What is that Latin inscription about our little town?
  4. Tell us more! Never heard anything about it !
  5. Not to mention Civic Pride Eggy. We know the town is amazing ! The flowers and the town look amazing as always. The people maybe the greatest asset.
  6. Gallagher Park is a great asset to the town. So much space . I had not realised it linked the town to Bedlington Station. So many pathways in or out. Pity the rats have ways to escape when damaging items. CCTV that's the answer .
  7. Sorry I missed the meeting on Thursday ! Anything interesting
  8. Right slight change in thought pattern ! How many pathways can you use to get to the Red Lion table 25. Ie via Gallager Park, Humford, Netherton Lonnen then Choppington all ending at what is now called Spoons
  9. As we have two rivers in our Shire maybe we need to encourage everyone this summer of sunshine and Bedlington in Bloom to rediscover the whole town. We started today at Sheepwash and thought we could get to Bothal on the Bedlington Side. Lovely walk but there is no path right along now. Must look for other walks that have been discussed. Netherton Lonnen, happenny woods Etc
  10. The town looks very colourful. Well done , a brilliant job.
  11. Surely History is not required to participate . It is either of interest or not! We would not exclude say Lindisfarne or Durham. Within the History of Durham Carhedral we are surely important. Part of Durham in Northumberland has to be a story .
  12. The booklet /leaflet was printed in 2013. Credit to Inspired North East North East Churches Tourism Task Group With help from Alison Stancliffe Rosie Stancliffe Jan Williams Peter Barham Nd Andrew Duff (editor ) Address Inspired North East Church House Saint John's Terrace Percy Main North Shields NE 29 6HS
  13. There is a website Malcolm. I tried searching on it for Bedlington and we get the a mention but no details about how important our town and church were in the past. Do you want the leaflet? It seems such a huge omission to me. Maybe I am a little biased.
  14. Inspired North East with the support of The Church of England dioceses of Durham and Newcastle has produced a website and booklet of more than 120 churches in the North East of England. Great except no mention in the booklet of our very own unique and amazing church of Saint Cuthbert. The pilgrimage route from Jarrow to Lindisfarne was evidently through our town. Do we accept being forgotten and off the beaten track. Ashington does not get a mention!
  15. Well almost a sell out already at Cramlington on Sunday for the last show relayed from the O2. At the Tyneside Cinema you get a free box of Spam Popcorn with a ticket. Who d have thought it 40years ago.
  16. Adam there are some fine flower displays at a house more or less opposite Malcolm. The cemetery entrance looks very colourful. Top marks to all concerned .
  17. Thinking of you and your family Vic and hoping you stay safe.
  18. Forget the Tour de France. Let's have the Tour de Bedlington.
  19. Scoring points! How about agreeing to differ with no one / upmanship. Maybe impossible.
  20. I still like that combination rhubarb and sugar. Ay We were poor but we were happy
  21. Paul that is now the most requested song at funerals. While John Cooper Clarke is becoming a favourite at weddings.
  22. Good idea but may take some time to find a photo. 'You were lucky'
  23. Welcome back Symptoms. Some things I did not find funny but so much is now part of our every day speech. Hells Granny's was my mother because she had a motor scooter and could use a handbag to great effect. The Spanish Inquisition, the argument 5 minute or half an hour not to mention so many many others. My Grandkids love the Swimming with Llamas on the live at Drury Lane show. Most of it is politically incorrect now. 'And you tell the kids these days and they don't believe you' Actually mine do, because they enjoy the whole silly thing.
  24. This may interest some people. I will put it on the thread for the City Hall too.
