  1. Dig deep, you will remember Jennings market garden , loads of long greenhouses, ran by a rather butch woman , cant remember name at the moment .
  2. Everything that you could possibly need - and more- right here in Bedlington Stn, ,,,,,,,,, but where are the take aways ? I think I can spot a potential money maker there, would anyone like a take away food shop? ..... Good reading a few memories stirred up there especially Jennings, Can anyone remember Jennings market garden behind the Bank Top, where the playing field is now ? Some of us still refer to it as Jennings field
  3. Terry Johnson was at the Whitley Memorial School , I think in the year below me. Keith Lockey ? Did he not live at Vulcan Place ? I do know that he is no longer with us .
  4. Coming home from work yesterday afternoon I saw the traffic warden ticketing cars parked on the path at Plessey woods. Seems to be easy pickings for them. After all it is a really busy street and illegally parked cars really cause an obstruction to property, pedestrians, cyclists and they impede the flow of traffic.
  5. ..... wonder if she could do anything with my driving licence, it's got more points than a hedgehog
  6. Totally agree, I don't mind dogs being walked around the field as long as the owners clean up after them. Dog crap and kids don't mix
  7. Aye and he would slap a dollop of brylcream on your head, my mother used to do her nut ha ha
  8. I am planning something for next year down here I've already had a funny look from someone I mentioned it to ( well a funnier look than I normally get anyway) How would you's look dressed in the Northumbrian tartan, kits and all ?
  9. I would say 2 for the field ( 1 at each entrance) an a couple more possibly placed at the estate entrances. The field ones are the most important I would say Malcolm. But the more the better.
  10. going to have to press someone about it, no point in asking people to bag their dog crap if all they are going to do is launch it into the nearest tree for it to hang like baubles on a xmas tree.
  11. I also was an unwilling victim of Joe Alsop. As with Symptoms it was a short back and sides, we had no choice in the matter. He would place a plank across the arms of the barbers chair for us to sit on until we were tall enough to sit in the seat properly.
  12. we want some in Burnside at the entrances to the field but we keep getting they are too expensive
  13. There was an excellent turnout for our first cage football event on the field on Friday 26th July. 60 kids turned up and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Parents, other adults and teenagers came along as well as parish councillors and our county councillor. More cage football evenings are planned on the 9th and 23rd August at 6pm.
  14. He was living at Bothal Barns the last I heard.
  15. I can remember Newton Foggan, he was a friend of my Dads. Dad used to keep his dormobile van in Newtons garage (bit ramshakled but it was secure). I cant remember the name of his wife, but she was always baking and always had a treat for me when I was there. Newton was a cracking fella, always laughing but I also remember that he would not suffer fools easily. I may be wrong, but I seem to think that he was a policeman at one time. Some of you will remember PC Walter Balance, he used to look in on the Foggans regularly.
  16. Now I think it could be a type of Fallopia, (Russian Vine) it grows at a rate of knots every year and takes over shed roofs etc.
  17. You'll get arrested for moontin the cuddy now
  18. both...... and dropping slabs off for me cos I never refuse them.
  19. Alan Keech. Is he still with us ? not heard of him for years . Also Jai (Gordon Bowron) last I saw of him must have been in 1976 when I was at Kirkley Hall. He appeared one day on a short horticultural course, he was a council gardener.
  20. Grace Darling, now she's truly a Northumbrian heroine.
  21. There was no Glastonbury festival last year because of the Olympics. It was decided not hold it because of security difficulties.
  22. I was down there for the opening then afterwards at EBCC. Was pretty interesting. It was glorious down there, really must go more often.
