  1. EBPC bailed out the school breakfast clubs with a donation of £500 each. The Mathew project is still going strong ( ashamed to say ) They are distributing parcels worth £25 to needy families that are referred to them by social workers etc. We awarded them a grant of £4,500 from the Bernicia community grants fund the other week. Adam, if you want some bumf on them, I think I still have some from their application pitch.
  2. If I did what they do in the Market Place every Thursday, I would be prosecuted for fly tipping.
  3. We, (the scum) might just follow you and scrounge for your dumps and dregs.
  4. Ashington farm is where I started my apprenticeship. Its down green lane above Sheepwash dene. The farm was owned by the Douglas family, Bob lived in the farmhouse, there were two sons Bruce, who lived in the bungalow on the bend near Blackdene and Malcolm who lived in the house next to North Seaton xings (ochterlony I think it was called). Bob has been dead many years now and Bruce is also dead I believe. Malcolm , as far as I know, is still alive and living on their farm at Cornhill which is now run by his son Robert. The Douglas's also owned Grange Farm down Humford lane for a while.

  8. My unwanted nonsense appears to the public eye regularly Bret.
  9. Brian knows now Malcolm, it was explained to him last night.
  10. Speechless, gobsmacked. At least a Makem will be getting to play in Yewroap ......... when John broadcasts on SNRG . If Malcolm is out that way on his jollies (when you see Scotch Corner in you mirror Macolm, you're heading the right way ) he might just have an audience - if Malcolm takes his laptop. that is
  11. I have just had a peanut butter and raw onion sandwich, it was surprisingly very nice.
  12. I had to wear padding under my shirt so that the camera could pick me out
  13. Let's just ask the Mathew Trust what they think. It will be interesting to see how busy they will become over the coming year. I would imagine that they will be rushed off their feet.
  14. Whats worse, Milliband crapping on his constituents, or you toying with the idea of supprting Scumderland AFC.?
  15. They were where Fergusons industrial estate is now , just as Tony says not far from the school, opposite Synpac (formerly Glaxo). It is actually two estates and the one nearest Cambois still has a lot of the old buildings, (although the nissen huts are long gone)
  16. Actually, I forgot it was coming Adam. My daughter took that photo when she was seeing to the ponies, the stables are right next to the line. It would have been good if the old platforms could have been opened for it coming through.
  17. West Sleekburn just after it came off the Wansbeck bridge
  18. It is those in receipt of housing benefit who rent their homes from a local authority or social landlord such as Bernicia or ISOS. Those who rent privately are not affected. This is supposed to free up suitable houses to fit the needs of the of the tenant . Single person = 1 bedroom then variations on size of family, age and gender of the children. It is a complete balls up that, right up till last week, Cameron was still trying to justify and move the goal posts, even at this late stage.
  19. Its good to hear that there was ahappy outcome for you.I've just been on training course regarding the welfare reform with Bernicia. It would be interesting to hear from letting agents such as A.S. Moon how this could benefit their business. As it is, the so called bedroom tax, only affects those people on benefits , under the age of 62 who rent their property from a social landlord such as Bernicia. This paves the way for private landlords and letting agencies to tap into what can be a very lucrative market, luring people away from social housing. A single person currently living in a 3 bedroom house will be under occupying that house, ie 2 spare bedrooms, which will mean they would have their housing benefit cut by 25%. Someone living in a privately rented property will be unaffected, this can only be a good thing for the private rental sector.
  20. They all did songs about California ?
  21. Someone please shoot me, just put me out of my misery, paleeeaaasse
  22. An early memory of mine was the Vicar that caught fire. He used to be a regular visitor to our house when we lived in the Market Place, he married my parents and later christened me at St Cuthberts. It was the afore mentioned Osgathorpe. Cannon Osgathorpe as he was then, was warming his backside in front of our coal fire when he got a bit too close , he was in his work claes and they whent ahaad. My mother chucked the dish water over him to put it out.
