I like all of the traditional carols, but only a few of the Christmas songs, I do like the late Rita MacNeil's "Now the Holly bears a berry†from her CD "Now the bells ring†I fondly remember going carol singing with my brothers and sisters, and being "the bairn†pushed to the front wi me hand oot! I make up a CD (remember them!) of very mixed seasonal songs and sing along (but only when driving alone)
  2. How much snow would you like? Got tons to spare here, how cold would you like it? It was -37c a few nights ago

HPW that car with the Union Jack on the roof was brother Charles's (R.I.P.) 1931 Morris Minor! my first car was a BMW (Isetta, yes a bubble car, I went on my honeymoon in it ) Pleased to have AWD right now, 2ft fresh snow –37c two nights ago. Never thought I'd like heated seats! Yes I remember the "Yellow peril"!Speaking of radios I remember my dad and I going to get tape players, I got the Pye Auto-reverse cassette player, dad bought the 8 track!Still prefer my model T's

  13. I bought a copy from Amazon, (CDN$ 0.02 $6.49 postage!) an excellent book, at the back is the Bedlington anthem by Mary Wade, it is written on sheet music, not having any musical inclination I was wondering what the tune would be, any ideas HPW?

Hi Foxy, unfortunately I can't receive channel 4, I bet it was a great program, sounds fascinating, we do get quite a lot of UK documentaries on "public television†but they are not very well publicised in advance, there often on U.S. channels. Did you happen to get the name of the documentary? The BBC website has some great links to the Spitfire etc. (we did get the England football game!)

  22. I received my copy yesterday and have just finished reading it, excellent book. Just waiting for HPW to write his book bringing us up to the present date!
  23. Yes Foxy fond memories, I can almost smell the creosote and seaweed on the staithes, that photo must be from around the high ferry(chain)? we used the low ferry to go pick williks.
  24. Thank you Steve, that brings back lots of fond memories, at school seeing the first chimney going up and then several times working there in construction and definitely a sight saying you are "nearly homeâ€.
