  1. You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day. Will try again Foxy. I still do not know the rules.
  2. Don't work too hard Brett. Life starts to go past quicker and quicker and you suddenly realise that ' life is what happens when your making other plans'. Gan Canny as we say.. One incredibly old git with attitude ( Bedlington inspired )
  3. Elvis Costello wrote a song just for you Eggy. 'Watching the Detectives' Your doing an amazing job. The secret is in the detail even if people do not want to be reminded of their past.. Basically we all look cute.
  4. Looking back I have got a sore finger from pressing too many buttons .!!!! Some folk have been there before me. Happiness is understanding the system. On yellow or at first blue stars I have not been thrown out yet. The question is 'am I working my ticket ' or just a ' radgie gadgie'
  5. About 13/14 presses before I was thrown out for to many green buttons.
  6. Right before the system changes and maybe before we have to subscribe here goes with the Green and Yellow buttons. Power to the people as they say. You have to know what to do first.
  7. I am not too keen on clicking onto links. If someone has a point to make then they could make the case with reference to the information they believe is available. However never say never and never belief all you read. Bluff and double bluff. Statistics and dammed lies. I like a hard copy to read and I prefer to read with a degree of 'Well he / she would say that wouldn't he/ she' To quote a certain lady in a certain court case.
  8. That's a YES from me too mercuryg The propaganda war is at work on both sides.
  9. We like the Seeger Sessions but our older kids do not. The Grandkids love to sing along. 'Old Man Tucker' particularly.
  10. It is only in the last few days that I have become aware of the Green Button and the Star Rating on each and every thread. It would be good to have these functions explained. Ie 'how many can we press each day ?' Perhaps somewhere on the Forum it is explained. HELP mods and admin please .
  11. A dangerous job James but there is nothing to replace this industry and jobs. We are buying in coal that is produced with possibly 'NO ' regard to safety. Markets can be rigged and who gains from the closure of a whole industry is debatable. In the sixties I always wondered who took into account the unemployment benefit and other figures when the mines closed . Neighbours who were thrown on the scrap heap for a lifetime of benefits. Even then the 'we do not need the coal' argument was flawed.
  12. I have missed your posts Brett.
  13. It is good to see this particular thread loose it's impetus with humour. Bedlington and the NE have always dealt with serious subjects but then introduced a humorous approach. Ie ''Wor Geordies lost his Penka' Or 'Keep your feet still Geordie Hinny' Come back Keith Lockey , we need you and your humour.
  14. I think a boxed set of the Simpsons is needed Canny Lass. DOH ! Living outside the country can mean we miss cultural references. However I look forward to 3g's explanation..
  15. Interesting interview on Radio 4 tonight. Was Elvis irritated by the interviewer. Who could dislike ' The Angels want to wear my Red Shoes' Or lyrics like 'They called her Natasha but she looked like Elsie' We saw him at the City Hall in the 70's brilliant. Very happy memories of singing 'Oliver's Army ' loudly in the car with all our kids.
  16. Thank Goodness for that Canny Lass, can't have people pressing their own buttons. Whatever next. Intriguing to look at the figures. I find new purpose in the Forum. It is like being in a race but you have no idea of where you are running. Blind Faith. I have so few points and that's fine by me. It looks like Malcolm and 3g are top of the charts.
  17. Still trying the green button. In the mean time why have some posts no 'greens button' while others have. My posts on this thread early on have no green button whilst the post at 4:17 today has the green button to press. Not that I would press my own post 'honest'. Well not intentionally. It is fascinating to see who has the most green points. Sadly not me. Well done Canny Lass sixty last time I looked.
  18. By pressing the green button I am still not allowed. Strange but what defines a day and how do you qualify. What number is too much.? How many green buttons can you press in one day? I did not even know they existed till yesterday. Note to anyone if you like a post press green in the bottom right and you give that person a point.
  19. Very good to read but I am not allowed to press any more green buttons. Seems I pressed too many yesterday and have to wait until today but that must mean 24 hours! I will keep trying.
  20. The golden years. Sadly unfulfilled expectations. I am not sure exactly where this bag came from but it says a lot and so very simply.

  21. I was not going to reply or just say 'whatever' to 3g. Any reply just gives way to another huge amount of information that could be disputed. The use of moral outrage and a fear clause just serve to negate debate. ( in my opinion) 3G maybe has a point but as we all know life is not simple. To keep this thread going highlights the title and in its own way is propaganda . Whichever paper you read or whichever party you decide to vote for should not cause a problem. At times this argument had amounted to 'What part of your wrong do you not understand?' Sadly mercuryg that is the reply I fear you will get to your posting.
  22. Whilst these are your sincerely held viewpoints 3g, there are other ways and other viewpoints just as valid. There are good people who do not fall into the World domination category.. Be careful you are not being fooled by the articles and papers you read. One could equally say that you are hiding your head in the sand. The right wing extremists are always going to be around, the ones you support could be said to be in disguise. A lot could be said about the petition you ask people to sign.
  23. Great that we all can agree. ( maybe only on a sideways view )
  24. Brilliant Canny Lass. My belief ,supplied by my Godmother, was in the Christmas Anna Angel. It seems in Greece an Anna Angel came on Christmas night and baked a cake. If there was a good sunset then it was obviously the Angels were having a party. It all made perfect sense. Possibly better than a scary old man with a white beard. No need to get into dept. Simple.
  25. Who came to the rescue Paul? My bike I still have from those days. No one would have taken it then but now it seems to be worth stealing. Un cool to cool or vintage. It was a Black Coop bike it has survived but is a little rusty.
